I have gluten intolerance and my doctor has had me stay away from gluten entirely. Going gluten free for several years has made a big difference for me.

This was SO HELPFUL. I have always thought I just don’t do well with gluten but was confused because not every gluten product caused me troubles. Now that I know it’s likely because of other ingredients that come along with refined gluten I can test out the theory with a little more insight into what’s actually going on. Thanks 😊

I had changed over to sourdough bread because I felt better. After listening to this KZbin information I’m going to include sprouted grain bread as well. Thanks.

Can you clarify your advice here with the video you created with Amylee Amos MS RDN about the Bredesen Protocol which explicitly identifies gluten as something to be avoided for individual with dementia or with increased risk of dementia due to genetics?

Have you looked into the hybridization of wheat that changes the gluten structure of the modern wheat that is widely used today?

My struggle is that when I eat a bunch of wheat products, I get more frequent headaches and my hands get way more stiff and painful…. So if you are saying it’s not an issue with gluten… how do I figure out what to do and what to eat.

I have Autism and ADHD, Gluten containing foods make me feel like I'm dying, even the organic, sprouted, fermented etc. It's the worst.

Grains aren’t great for me but I do have organic and gluten free sprouted steel cut oatmeal about once a week and I seem to be ok with that.. I agree with you on the refined grains! I have hypothyroidism and they always said not to eat grains..🤷♀️ I have noticed that my nails are much better when I don’t eat grains...

Fructans! Maybe that's why I get gassy when I eat a lot of wheat a few days in a row but do fine in moderation?? What about seitan? Does that have fructans? I was buying hunks of "gluten" at the Asian market and using it for stir fry. No problem that I noticed.probably high in sodium though.
@WhitneyERDN4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, seitan is just the isolated wheat protein so it shouldn't have fructans.

If research doesn’t support gluten free diet for any other disease then why do arthritis specialists recommend a gluten free diet for those with arthritis? I’d rather trust a doctor who has 12+ years of training ...

You forgot to mention the importance of organic ....

Definitely important! But less pertinent to the specific issue on whether or not wheat is inherently harmful.

My question about the blind study of gluten sensitivity is whether these studies are observed long term. Personally, if I eat gluten once a week, it won't bother me but if I eat it regularly, it will. And actually there are some studies done on the efficacy of gluten-free diets on psoriasis and other auto immune disorders. www.dermatologytimes.com/view/does-gluten-intake-influence-psoriasis-psoriatic-arthritis The fact of the matter is that the science on whether gluten has an effect on health is actually unclear. It is not a definitive yes nor a definitive no. Just because the research is not entirely conclusive about gluten does not mean that it should be dismissed either. It needs to be further explored. True science is about delving deeper to find out these things. To say that gluten absolutely doesn't have any negative effects on the body dismisses the research that says it MIGHT. By dismissing these "maybes," you are dismissing the scientific integrity of the search. Maybe there are other factors like fructan that play a role but these ideas need to actively be studied with an open mind to either prove or disprove hypotheses to find out. I have a love-hate relationship with your channel, because it feels like you cherry pick evidence to go against the mainstream ideas of health. I don't agree with all the mainstream ideas either but everything needs to be looked at with an objective and open lens. That's how we progress in science
@WhitneyERDN4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sabrina, thanks for your respectful discourse. I understand that we can't completely dismiss suggestive evidence but I haven't found any research that would change my dietary recommendations. I looked at the link and study you referenced and the author's conclusion was: "Based on the NHS2 there was NO association between amount of gluten consumed and incidence of psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis. This study did NOT support the restriction of gluten in patients with psoriasis psoriatic arthritis." I will change my viewpoint about gluten when science supports it but at this point I don't believe it does.

Actually the reason people feel better when they cut out gluten is their gut is able to absorb more nutrients from other foods because gluten can stop nutrient absorption.
@hda3003 жыл бұрын
Sorry but a lot of you information is incorrect. The fact is most of our health problems started when we start eating wholegrain. That information came from one of the world's leading heart surgeons.
@debraroberts67352 жыл бұрын
I am going out on a limb here but I feel it's pretty sturdy... Stephen Gundry is the doctor you're referring to.. True? Do your own research, Whitney did not misspeak. I am quite sure on this subject that Dr gundry is wrong, about both gluten and lectins. Dr. Gundry was an awesome cardiac surgeon, his inventions are quite incredible, and I believe he has confidence that what he says is accurate and can be "taken it to the bank." So I am not saying he's knowingly misinformed anyone with his bestselling books ... just that he is misinforming folks. He should have stuck with the heart surgery and his incredible surgical device patents. As an aside,, I've tried three of his supplements...as Whitney characterized it in her supplements video, he's a bit of a "pixie duster." I wish Whitney would double the length of these, I would love more info. Conversely, Dr. Gundry goes on and on and on. AND he makes quite a few claims that are not only not proven, some are actually flat wrong. And if you try his supplements, don't expect a quick OR easy return as advertised. His service reps have quite a script waiting for anyone wanting a refund. Unless the placebo effect kicks in, his supplements aren't going to do any of the things he promises...Not to mention how ridiculously overpriced they are, especially for a brand cutting corners on the production line with excipients like mag stearate. Got carried away and a little fired up here. Gundry has a BIG dog in the gluten fight, Whitney does not have so much as a teacup poodle.

@@debraroberts6735 I sorry but you need to do a lot more research. Nutrition is something I've been studying for over 12 year when I got diagnosed with Coeliac disease and had to get of gluten. There is research out there that says nobody can digest gluten and it can not only cause gut problems it can cause brain problems also in the back of the brain actually. Also when wholegrain goodness was introduced diabetes went up 800% wholegrain are also link to joint pain and arthritis and is definitely link to heart disease. Dr Steven Gundry found that out after doing 10000 heart surgeries. Steven Gundry is not the only doctor thats believes wholegrain are bad Dr Ken Berry has done a lot of research also and linked wholegrain and wheat to a lot of health problems and there are other doctors I follow on KZbin that have the same opinion. As for Steven Gundry he has 1000 of patients now that he is improving their health problems by changing their diet and getting them off grains and lectins. The waiting list to see him is 12 months and some of the people using him are well known people and they go to him because he gets results and gets them of drugs.
