I think with the new team he has built in the last months, he will rise. Wishing him the best for 2024. People need to start looking past his actions in the past and look more at his journey. Rune is a very talented player. The problem is that Sinner and Alcaraz are really tough. Mentally he has to be solid. everyone who wants to get inside the intensity & instability of being a tennis prodigy like HR should read Agassi’s memoir. basically, none of us can imagine the pressure, exhaustion, & confusion of a gifted adolescent in any field rising so fast. that said, thank god HR got rid of that conman Patrick & sought help from a real tennis player/coach. he now has to work on his court positioning and tactics, as we saw in the Dimitrov match. a seasoned player can still pull him up & back & get him out of court position, which is when he loses balance & shanks. he still slaps the ball more than strokes it (the way Carlos does & Sinner has learned to do). my basic point, his path to success is technical & tactical as much as emotional. i predict he’ll never win a GS but will hover in the top 10 for several years. he’ll win 5 m1000’s. he’ll be rich & happy. also, he’s gonna have bad injury problems. i like him.

I don’t think Rune will be strong on the outdoor hard court season in the beginning of the year. He will not win tournaments here, but do better from the clay season onwards. He is a great player (I’m Danish), but I think he does too much slow top spinning under pressure, which is a no go on hard court- you get punished by flatter/hard hitting players like Rublev, Alcaraz, Sinner. He needs to play flatter instead of all this transportation/defensive play that has been inserted in his game. I understand that everything has to be dosed for the circumstances(his physicallity still does not allow him full gas), but he lost to Dimitrov because he gave away the initiative (and was tired after dropping sets in the opening two matches). Becker will hopefully build stability so he can play a more dictating game based on improved volleying and his retuning skills, then he’ll be deadly at the end of the season. Let’s see if he makes it - also with a matured attitude mentally…

I just watched him in Brisbane and he absolutely was great to watch and he’s probably my favourite player right now after watching him live. I’d be interested to know if he’s been diagnosed and medicated for ADHD, he 100% presents as having it and if he’s not diagnosed or medicated I think it would change his life being on Ritalin or Dex…he’s hyper all the time and figits like no other (Nadal is similar) but it would settle him down for sure and calm the outbursts to

@Calisto123123 Жыл бұрын
I think childish is an accurate description of what some people perceive in him as arrogance. I find arrogant players are able to conceal their emotions much better than Rune - his emotions read like an open book. Not a huge fan of his personality but he's still young & you can't like everyone all the time. I'm glad to see the good start he's had to the year, even though he lost that great final today to Dimitrov (love to see Dimi back to winning ways). I find it hard to take to Sinner's ball bashing playing style personally (even though he does seem to be trying to add drop shots & a net game in lately) & so I'm keen to see Rune do well, win multiple slams & have a super entertaining rivalry with Alcaraz for many years if all goes well.
