It is so touching to me, as a romanian, to see a foreigner talk so beautifully about my country, that he literally gets teary-eyed. Especially considering the negative stereotypes we face throughout Europe. Thank you.

We have our treachearous politicians of the past three decades to thank for that. But if you really think of it, it's not all bad because I personally don't want the westerners to move in en-masse.

Yes, I totally agree. I'm from Germany and I love going to Romania. I'm really sad every time I have to leave. Unfortunately sarmale aren't so easy to find in "normal" restaurants nowadays. Will hopefully go to Timișoara in the summer again. Also want to visit Chișinău.

THE BREAD!! omg. I lived in the USA for 7 years before deciding to return to Romania. I remember when I got to the states and I ate bread for the first time it was sooooooo sweet. I didn't like the bread at all there. I could only eat it a few times. When I came back I went and bought some bread and I ate the whole loaf I was missing it so much

The "curent" part in the buss I think its mostly because it stiffens your neck and other parts that are sweaty. It's a thing I believe called overcooling a muscle that causes it to contract and eventually you feel pain and stiffness. I hope people see this an research a bit :))

The whole time I listened to you I was thinking to myself, I want to live in the city he is talking about (I am Romanian), and than I heard you mentioning Cluj, Oradea, I live in Cluj-Napoca right now. And I realised that probably some of you memories that you cherish so much happened here in Cluj, but I don't see it like that, and that is probably my fault, not anybody else's fault. You can be happy or unhappy in any part of the world I guess, depending on your perception of the surroundings. I will try my best to learn to appreciate it better.

About romanian food and music. Romania is splitted within other regions: oltenia, dobrogea, bucovina and so on.... every region has some it’s unique dishes, music, and human temper. So some people diferentiate trough different thing, altough these cultural thing diferentiate us, it’s also something that binds us. From a romanian's point of view, we took all those things from our grandparents and in a way we try at our best to refine them.

You are genuinely an angel. I'm a Romanian living in the UK for uni and I can relate the most to missing the family. When I came to the UK I was surprised that other nationalities don't do really this and I was like "whyyy?" cause I feel I am really close with my family and would do anything for them and they for me and is odd to see not all countries have this "home" culture. Also, yesterday just got a package of food from home that I can't find here and it genuinely cured all my homesickness and I feel so happy now. You seem like an amazing person, and you will always be welcome among us, I am really glad that you had a good time in Romania and thank you for the kind words. :)

The main reason why Romanian food is so good, is because most of the people that lived outside big cities used to work for the communists and their fields while also working their own and having animals at home. Also these people used to be a big portion of Romania population even before communism. Since they are making their own food , they shared ways to make it with neighbour villages and what happened is that you will see diferent ways of making the same dish and dishes in the 3 main regions of Romania. Transilvania, Moldova, Muntenia(Walachia). So you cant say you know Romanians food unless you know all 3, this also applies to drinks, and whatever you may think of. And if you want even more diversity there are areas where you find specific communities that have their own dishes. Sadly for this country is that we didnt had leaders to keep the powerfull economy that communists build and by 2000 we were already leaching on EU for money, also add the Americans that build "defensive structures" here which made the situation with Russia even worse. So yea, great landscape, bad position on the map...

As I romanian I can tell you that we are a meat loving people. Piftie could be scary :). Cow belly soup, even in Romania, not everybody loves it. Have you ever tried sorici? I've heard from forigners that was the scariest one. "Curent" I guess that for you it's the draft. It sounds silly but the elders really take it seriously. What do you think about "deochi" similar to the "evil eye" in mediterranean culture. After a few years in France I couldn't stop eating tomatoes and cheese. There even the bio tomatoes had bland taste. Sarmale, I've never been a fan of them but after years abroad I really missed them.

I will try to explain properly the "Curent" thing .. and why it is a medical fact, not a superstition. The human body natural temperature it's 37 Celsius degrees, and that temperature it is maintained and regularized by blood circulation. Does not matter if you live in the North Pole or the Saharan desert, the human body temperature it's the same. If is not 37, then you are sick or about to be sick. So the problem it's not the cold or the hot, the problem it's if the body it's not at the same temperature. I do not think that an eskimo living at the north pole, did ever catch a cold .. that's because the temperature it is always the same (freezing cold all the time outside but 37 degrees inside those worm furry coats. The health problem appears when are sudden changes of temperature and the body fails to adapt in such short time. Like when you go from a warm room, outside in the cold and back to worm, and again in the cold .. the blood just can't keep up to regulate this changes, and, of course, you will catch a cold and get sick. Now that we know how the body temperature works, let's go to the "curent" thing. What is "current"? "Current" it's an air draft, stream, of different temperature that the one in the room, usually colder. It is not "current" if you open just one window, but if you open more than one window, between them it forms a stream of cold air, with a few degrees lower than the rest of the room temperature. That stream it is called "curent", the name it's a derivate from the "electrical current" that also goes trough small long wires kinda looks the same if we imagine it as a graphical representation. If you do not stay directly into that cold air stream, you will be fine .. but if a part of your body it is in it (usually the head), the heat sensors of your body will get mixed readings and the blood will get cold and worm and cold and worm, and the whole body temperature system will be like "what it's going on?" And, of course, you will get sick. Now, depending on which part was exposed to the "curent" (cold air stream) ... if head, you'll get a tooth pain or ear pain .. if the back, you'll get a kidney pain .. and so on. Besides that, you will develop a real nasty cold, cough, running nose, etc. So, I will close this with a quote .. someone once said: "Science that ppl don't understand, can be easy confused with magic" .. it is nothing magical or superstitious about "Curent", it is a medical FACT. p.s. same temperature difference thing applies for sitting down directly on the ground, not for 5 minutes but for longer than that, especially for ladies .. because the ground it is always a few degrees colder than the air, they will develop an ovarian cold.... it is medical, not superstition.
