How often should maca consumption be interrupted to avoid habituation? For example, every eight weeks of intake, take a 4-week break and restart the cycle.

All I hear from the studies is physical evidence is zero but ambiguous things like libido and mood and depression and anxiety are improved with anything from placebo to maca. I would find it hard to worry about cycling with most supplements as they usually have no specific effects of any kind and therefore don't see how they would gain specific side effects to take cycling. That is, a lot of hysteria and small benefit. It is one of the 4 supplements so touted to boost testosterone or power and performance in weight training. These usually have studies showing 5% to 15% gains, and I will take that, as it is a safety factor in working out to handle the weights better. Over the past 10 months I continue to work out on bench press and moved up from 45 lbs (the bar, no wts) to 205 lbs, 30 lbs gain in the past 2 months. There is some chance these helped with that, but there are many things going on and strength gains are not linear, they are periodic, making attribution to supplements tricky. Periodic meaning 4 months of no wt lifting gains at all then a fast launch phase. For me, those promoting this group of supplement should be periodically taken due to imaginary side effects, loss of effectiveness, blah, blah, is a lot of hysteria and gaming youblooper vids for attention. I would have dropped them but today I slammed bench of 205 lbs (45 and 35 lbs wts on each end of 45 lb bar) on the way to 225 (double 45 lb wts on each end of the 45 lb bar). I did one lift of 205 for the first time a few weeks ago with spotter, and today did not need one.

Im peruvian and I just started to enjoy Maca Powder from different brands, I feel a bit of energy boost 😊! Maybe my gens are adapted to enjoy this yummy root!

I use maca (red + black combo) to regain my tastebuds after a C infection. I suspect red does the heavy lifiting, but i have both anyways... so... also the effect of the tastebuds regaining is directly linked to the amount of maca i take

​@Dr.SeanSong once again we find a doctor that only goes by studies which has been falsely info. Also there are different kinds for different things as well as the amount each day 2 or 3 grams really?, once again failed. Always increase until the desire effects occur. It won't hurt. Education from school hurts people more than help. Why don't you take it then give a testimony, that is far better that studies from the government

I get very strange side effects from maca even at a very minute amount 1/8 of a teaspoon per week for 2 or 3 weeks. Puffy eyelids, numbness in the face, dizziness, thicking of the skin, wrinkles and extra skin blemishes i did not have before. Obviously I am highly allergic to this supplement. Good thing I am very cautious about taking or trying new supplements or I could get very serious condition that could end me being in the hospital. As it is some of these side effects may not go away.

Maca is generally considered safe for most people, including those with diabetes. However, I recommend monitoring your blood sugar levels closely when introducing any new supplement, including maca. Some research suggests that maca may have a beneficial effect on blood sugar control, but more studies are needed to confirm this. Hope this helps!

Yes at least in my case no changes in fasting glucose one hour after taking 1200mg of concentrated black maca in 2 600mg 💊💊 x2 a day ( 2400 mg ). Also after two months of the above dose no changes in my A1c levels after my most recent blood test.

LOL just the expression on her face when I shot a thicker and substantial load was worth it, I used what I mentioned last month and after the first 3 weeks or so my volume visibly doubled, I just go'ogled Jan Venstaker's Shooting Ropes and the intensity has been insane!

The color of maca doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to its effectiveness. However, since we are using it as a supplement, it might take some time to work. Give it about three months 😀

I’m disappointed. I’ve been taking macca root for two months now, following directions on the bottle. I have felt no difference at all. Disappointed.

I'm sorry to hear that. If you've given it three months of trying, it might be better to move on and try something else. You could consider horny goat weed as an alternative, but if you're seeking natural remedies, please consult with an Eastern medicine practitioner.

​@@Dr.SeanSongMyself as well 2400mg dose twice a day 4 600mg pills of Black Maca for 2 months and absolutely no difference or changes and blood work came back worse ( higher triglycerides and LDL ). No change in blood pressure, T-levels, or anxiety.

Thanks for asking. There's no official recommended dosage for Maca, but studies have used 1500mg to 4000mg daily without reported side effects.

5 to 10 g Black Maca DAILY does what should do, more energy, libido, connection. Under 3 g does not do Almost anything, even after weeks. Amount taken daily is the key. 3 time x 3 g daily.

@@chris-jy4im Since 3000 mg does not work for you, means that your problem is not about Maca but something else. 3000 mg is a good start to notice some improvements, even smaller. Maybe you should consult with your doctor, and do research on your blood samples before taking any medications.

Except that, maybe you should shift from that manufacturer, maybe it is not from good quality. A 3000 mg capsule should be very big. That is 3 grams of powder into 1 capsule. I dont think that even a 3 gram capsule exists. Simply i think that those capsules are low quality or something else.
