@jjtopp993 жыл бұрын
@@Romanlove11 You are confusing Vitamin K2 with Vitamin K1. Vitamin K1 IS the "clotting vitamin". Whoever told you to stop taking K2 is spouting absolute nonsense. Likely an ignorant family practice medical doctor or cardiologist. Even very large amounts of K2 from food or supplements do not markedly affect blood clotting. Vitamin K1 is plentiful in a diet rich in foods such as spinach and other vegetables so there are very few Western world inhabitants that develop a K1 deficiency. However, due to dietary changes over the last 100 years most Westerners have an acute deficiency in Vitamin K2. Unfortunately, vegetables only contain little, if any, Vitamin K2. Foods rich in K2 include organ meats from grass-fed animals, Brie and Gouda cheeses, Natto (made from fermented soybeans), and Grass-fed Butter. Eggs as well. You can do an internet search for lists of foods rich in Vitamin K2. Adequate K2 is absolutely ESSENTIAL to your cardiovascular health as it keeps calcium in your bones and out of your arteries (as Veni VidiVici stated immediately above). Having said all that, it is difficult for the typical Westerner to get enough K2 via diet alone. I personally have been supplementing daily with K2 (in gel cap form, avoid the less effective dry capsule forms) for almost 10 years now. I am 70 years old and in excellent cardiovascular health.

This video started well but went downhill fast at point #4. "Megadoses" are used for treating specific conditions, not for daily consumption. 2000mg isn't a megadose. 80,000mg is a megadose. Although that does raise the question, which wasn't addressed in this video, of how much is enough. The RDAs are absurdly low for things like vitamin C and especially vitamin D. And yes, I am cynical enough to ask why? These don't have side effects and are dirt cheap. Our foods today are grown in depleted soils that are severely lacking in nutrients. If they're even grown in soils at all. What's the point of eating a tasteless hydroponic tomato? I haven't had a decent tomato in at least 20 years. Maybe someone reading this will say they have, and maybe that's true. Or, maybe they aren't old enough to even know what a good tomato tasted like. The point is vitamin C is critical and most people are seriously deficient, like they're seriously deficient in almost every vitamin and mineral from eating processed foods. Discouraging people from taking vitamin C is doing them a HUGE, irresponsible disservice. Finally, deliberately conflating vitamin E and vitamin C mortality is actually disgusting. I have unsubscribed. No one needs this sort of garbage advice.

What he is saying is 2,000mg of ascorbic acid on its own is a mega dose, which is true. If people are wanting to take vitamin C, they should be looking at getting it from their diet so that it includes everything in the complex, not just ascorbic acid. Alternatively, there are natural vitamin C supplements which are based on food and not a synthetic isolated version of ascorbic acid which are better to take.

Vitamin C is one of the most delicate vitamins and any heating will destroy it as well as any probiotics in the natural fermentation process. The only way to get the benefit of vitamin C from sauerkraut is to make your own and eat it raw or somehow be able to purchase non-pasteurized (which I think in the USA is impossible to obtain). I am German and do sometimes make my own (very easy) because I'm living in Spain for many years. In Germany, it was not difficult to get non-pasteurized, here it is impossible as it comes in jars. The sauerkraut Dr. Ekberg refers to that was historically used to avoid scurvy, was barrel fermented and eaten raw.

@@misottovoce A local health food store sells non-pasteurized (natural, real) sauerkraut. Also, kimchi - consisting mostly of fermented cabbage, but also having carrots. Ginger is added, which I also appreciate. I have a question: When it comes to Vitamin C content of sauerkraut, does it have to be either "red" cabbage or "purple" cabbage (compared to the usual light-green colored cabbage) in order to have the Very High Doses of natural vitamin C? Would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who knows this! Here's side note: the local health food store product I buy sauerkraut & kimchi from -- they keep the product refrigerated and the plastic bag that contains it has special "one-way" holes that allow fermented gases to escape the package if too much pressure builds up within it. That way, the product is still "alive" (hasn't been pasteurized, and probiotics are still alive and well, purportedly.) Hopefully also the Vitamin C -- whatever amount might naturally be in there.

Most probably, bacteria produced Ascorbic acid. Where else could he get that much from? 1000mgs for first, than 4-5000mgs and 8000mgs when he got old. (Again, every day!) We are being fed when we teach, so I won't be bringing kale with me -it's not ridiculous, they sell them as chips. Acerola is the best but it's 50% more expensive than anything else. But still. I need them. I found some on Amazon time released and non time released. Which one would be better? I take all my 4 iron pills in one shot, usually after my meal (~3pm); if I take it after my 2nd meal (~6-7pm), I have acid reflux during the night. Thanks for explaining, I had somewhat asked this in the last video. Nicole

Sauerkraut organic not pasteurised all natural has the highest amount of Vitamine C. I buy it in an organic grocery here in Lisbon taste delicious and you combine it with so many other foods great explanation Dr Ekberg !

Sauerkraut is one of those projects I don't seem to get to. I did get the crock to do it though. The other question is how to eat it. Unpasteurized? When I was a kid, I got cooked kraut with some sort of sausage.
@SuperSaltydog773 жыл бұрын
@@nameremoved4010 I've been making my own kraut for almost a year now, also add in some fresh garlic, mustard seed and caraway seed. So good and so easy to do. I just got an old crock pot from a neighbor, my next batch will be in that.

On the randomized trials and meta analysis, how were things calculated. There isn’t a conclusive evidence one way or another n the high dose vitamin c. Also, you are looking at different modalities. High dose vitamin c IV is drastically different than oral. Additionally, high dosing vitamin c is showing to improve autophagy and is currently being studied with chemo and barometric pressure with fasting and fasting. As a person who has two autoimmune diseases and a blood platelet issue, one of the solutions over the last 50 plus years has been to high dose vitamin c. It is what keeps my body functioning. I enjoy your videos, but this one, I would recommend a do over with a little more homework. I appreciate your effort here, but I think this one may have not been researched as well as your other great work.

I developed restless legs during lockdown due to inactivity. No amount of wiggling my feet & toes in bed would alleviate the aching until I found a simple exercise method. You need to stretch the muscles at the back of your legs. Lay on your back and lift your leg with knee bent. Then use your hands to try and straighten your leg in towards your head, so you start feeling pain in the muscle behind your knee. Hold that uncomfortable position for 10sec or more and repeat several times for each leg until the aching alleviates.

Not swallowing this one... mega doses of Vit C as ascorbic acid has worked for hitting infections and gum bleeding, or mouth sores at the get-go for me for many years! You neglect citing Linus Pauling and many others. Research? Need to look at it more closely..... there are differing opinions on the subject.

@Dr.Sten Ekberg, What are your thoughts on all the mammals that produce ascorbic acid in their liver (especially when sick) and not whole food fruit vitamin C?
