I had never hear of this apparition, and was very happy to find this, in the book Our Lady mentions that priests should love Fr. Jean Marie Vianney (patron saint of priests) he had not been born yet. I recently read a book about his life also. So happy to find these wonderful stories that strengthen my faith.

I always take very seriously any message from a Marian apparition approved by the Church. Most of them, certainly the ones I know about, seem to come true regularly; something which is both unnerving and quite hopeful. Right now they seem unnerving because it seems we are in the middle of widespread disdain for the Church, and disrespect for good and holy priests. I can defend myself in my faith, but I feel sorrow for those who cannot.

Thanks Anthony and Happy New Year. I did not know that Our Lady of Good Success is properly translated as Our Lady of Purification. I understand purification in this sense the purification of the Church which Our Lady prophesied as needed in our time. That time is now. The Church, particularly since Vatican II, has lost its way and become in many ways the tool of the devil. How long before the before the purification, i.e., chastisement, takes place is unknown. My guess it will be relatively soon, say in the next 5-10 years. I would like to hear what Archbishop Vigano has to say about this.

On my statues it is writren' Santisimo Virgen del Buen Suceso" Which means Our Lady of Good Success. Dr Horvet is an expert on this Devotion.!!!! And my statues come from 2005. If it were “good success” it would translate as buen éxito or éxito bueno. In Spanish “Suceso” is more like an event that has transpired.

One correction antony: Our Lady of Aparecida is brazillian the full name in english should traslate like "Our Lady of the [immaculate] Conception Appeared" Was not in itself an aparition but a event of an fishing of a micaculous image of The immaculate conception in a river fished by 2 fisherman that were praying to our lady to catch fish to offer to a count that was visiting the town. The fisherman then later catch much fish and then that was the first miracle of the devotion to the image. By the way it was on 1717 (the same year of the stone cutters official public fundation). In 1978 in the same year of the divorce law approval in brazil a crazy iconoclast young dude attacked the image in the middle of a 'mass' (novus ordo) and shattered the image. The image was somewhat restored but never was the same again.

Not out of skepticism of Our Lady but just prudent testing of the spirits, do to say, but when was this message first published/ written and when was it approved? Are there contemporary sources on this? Knowing this is probably the biggest piece to setting Catholics’ doubts at ease because otherwise it could be dismissed as a modern account attempting to back-write prophesies.

The Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Quito wrote a letter saying that Buen Suceso cannot be adequately translated into English and so English speakers should use the Spanish words in her title, such that she would be called Our Lady of Buen Suceso of the Purification. But is a Spanish word, "Suceso," more understandable than an English one to English speaking people? Some words cannot be adequately translated into English and we merely need to live with that fact. "Success" in English has an archaic meaning which corresponds to the Spanish, namely, “the good or bad outcome of an undertaking.” Hence, just as we use Thee and Thou, and Holy Ghost, it seems similar to use old English for Our Lady, which can be understood with a little explanation for those who like to split hairs on her title. She also has the title of Our Lady of Good Fortune (which could be understood to mean, Good Luck!). And so even if the meaning changes in English, the title is still an orthodox one. Hence, this namely long recognized in English ought to be kept, in my opinion, to avoid making her title less understandable and less recognizable to the English speaking world.
