the biggest counter to the 2025 project is not Biden but more voter turnout in smaller elections. People do that and even if Trump got in he would be stuck on the important bits. After all regardless of whether Biden gets in or not the supreme court isn't changing and as long as the Dems hold either the house or the senate those laws would be slowed or stopped. I think the difference is now these goals are much more out there and in the open relative to the general public. What was once buried in obscure policy white papers, party planks (that few read), and internal documents is now out in the open and part of the public conversation. But those more policy minded seem to be freaking out because the Heritage Foundation playing this so openly indicates they think they will get one final push and ram a lot of this through in a way that we won't recover from.

If we changed nothing and let the trust fund run out we would still have full social security benefits until 2035 and only after that they would still be able to pay 75% indefinitely because of payroll taxes. The only way for social security to actually go bankrupt is if it stopped using payroll taxes, which is never going to happen! This is simple stuff and I know he knows it too, it just scares people who don't understand taxes. People need to call out Shapiro when he's so obviously lying through his teeth like this!
