As someone who works at a used game / vintage media store. We are also having to debate keeping new games in stock. Our profit margins are not quite as disastrous as this store. But often we're paying $42-$55 from a vendor for a $60 or $70 game. It's also pretty bad for other new media, but video games are crazy... Used games really are the money maker. Very cool store that I would love to visit when I'm back in the area!

NCAA14 is crazy. I started collecting about a year ago for the 360. Ive come across 3 copies in the wild, and flipped 2 for around the $90/ea ($80/ea profit) and I held on to 1 for the nostalgia. Then when I decided to grab the new one I sold the last copy I had, complete, for $30. I honestly hate that game prices are so high, because I rarely flip anything....just like collecting for the nostalgia. Why I sold my Gensis. I got a great deal on the system and the games, but all the ones I wanted were well over $100/ea for a loose copy. Crazy :(

I think that what's driving the prices of some game higher than they should are either false bidding in eBay or foreigners with money to burn (like some Brazilian collectors). In Brazil we had a collector assuming that when he had the money there wasn't a hard limit on the price he would pay to get some items, specially SEGA ones, so he would always outbid North Americans on said items.

As the business owner, you dictate what you’ll pay- not Pricecharting. Also, just because it comes through the door doesn’t mean you’re required to buy it. Complaining about 360 games being too high and they don’t sell? Pay less or don’t buy them. Not sorry, but I have 3 friends that own 3 successful video game stores and that’s how it’s done and that’s how it’s always done. YOU are the reason Pricecharting thinks a game is worth more than it is. Look at the Spec Ops The Line debacle: piece shot to to $85 CIB, nobody in their right mind bought it- now the price is back to about $30. That CIB room was cool. Also cool of him to give you that 360. Most series won’t sell them. Some know exactly how to repair those. I’ve been told the red ring repair is actually quite easy, but can take a slight bit of time to fix.
