its refreshing to see you get angry and try again. it means you're not bottling it up. Whoever suggested to censor it is just sensitive.

I appreciate and agree with your first sentence, but the second sentence you stated as if a fact, but I think you're just assuming/guessing about the person who suggested to censor the negativity. I'm not that person or agreeing with them btw. It just seems like you're trying to win the argument by putting them down. You can disagree and make a good point without ad hominem attacks. (PS I'm on a mission to spread logic and reason)

insanity54 It's ironic how I also spread these comments but get told the same thing. Lol I could've said it in many ways but sensitive is rather neutral. Could've said what Vinyl said, you know? at the end of the day, Sensitive is quite vague.

In my personal experience, when I first started, skater trainers really helped with my confidence. If I could land lets say a varial kickflip on skate trainers, then I could commit without them. If you are a beginner, then they are ok. But now that I can actually skate, they don't work anymore.

I think you state the solution... Weed is extremely bad for motivation. I'm not trying to trash talk weed and spread conservative values, I'm talking from experience. I have had huge problems with motivation when I smoked weed. At first it seemed like weed got me to try new things, but the thing is that weed in itself being a reward for the brain, it needs progressively more and more to get that feeling, and it isn't reached as easily by completing simple tasks like it should, which directly impacts motivation. It's easy to hate on this comment and say it's BS, but try it, weed may not have such a positive impact on your life as you think it does.

Smoking isn't a productive activity which is why it causes motivation issues. It's easier to sit around watching videos or listening to music whilst smoking then doing something productive, so that's what you'll end up doing. Once you see smoking as you're actually doing >nothing< is when your mindset will change. have a smoke whilst exploring, fixing something, ect. And try move away from indicas in the day, alot of them can couch lock which really doesn't help.

John Hill they are from Tulsa (I live there) and they've been around for awhile. I think they help if you wanna get the feeling of switch tricks and getting the flick right but they are awkward if you're used to rolling. I won a pair in a comp back in March when they helped put on a comp at a local park and they feel weird doing regular tricks but do help with switch then you take them off after getting the feel and try it rolling.

Would be sweet. But the more different products he releases the lower the revenue. Even some 1 million + channels only sell 1 design t-shirt in 5 sizes and that's it, because just adding a second design wouldn't be the best business decision. So it might take some time before hoodies and other clothing items are added. But when he does... I wouldn't mind seeing a Hoodie in the shop either :)

I appreciate that you show yourself getting mad and smashing your board and stuff like that. To me it makes you a lot more relatable and I like that because I struggle with anger in skateboarding myself. I've studied social psychology and there I learned that having and showing small "flaws" and "imperfections" makes a person a lot more likeable. KEEP UP THE AMAZING CONTENT JOHN!!! ***** Yes! It's arguable that they are $20 but I learned my heelflips today thanks to them. Definitely good for tricks that have lots of movement because if you are practicing rotating and flip tricks the board tends to fly away from you and putting it back into a crack everytime makes your progression waaay slower. Also, being off balance when first learning tricks is definitely gonna interfere with your success. I would recommend them, but you should probably get used ones because new ones don't stretch over wheels right and it's overpriced for some rubber cages.

I skipped this video at first cause I didn't care much about skater trainers, but I'm glad I came back because what you said at 2:10 was really important to me. Most other KZbinrs do seem to censor pretty much anything negative, especially anything involving themselves acting angry/etc., and it does have that same sort of effect as the "perfect model" on the cover of a magazine like you said. Hearing the honesty from you, that even when your life is going well and you're doing your best to progress daily there can still be moments where you can be stressed out or whatever, was really helpful to put things back in perspective for me. Lately I've been feel really guilty any time I get stressed out at all, but knowing that even somebody with as positive of a trajectory as you can get stressed out makes me feel relieved. I've been watching your videos almost every day for 3+ months now but I've never been a subscriber. Today you won me over; now you have 0.0000028% more subscribers :)

Dear john, ive watched a fair few of your blogs and have to say... im not really into the bloggy bit of the vids. I look for the titles, and if it seems like something I want to see, I click on the vid and skip through until it gets to the skate related part. I think you could create a wider audience if you had two channels and just kept what you do now on here, and have a pure skate channel where you just post you skating? Just one mans opinion.

John you amazing human being you keep up this good work, ok? I personally love how you intertwine the skating and the vloggy bits because the skating is what immediately attracts viewers, but the other parts of the vlog really show how you got to that point by revealing your values and way of life. You're the best youtuber, we all love you.

Skater trainer are stupid after you learn a trick standing still you'll have to relearn it while riding then you have to build confidence all over again smh...suck it up and just learn it while riding

landing the trick with the skater trainers consistently gives you more than enough confidence to do it riding, so it does help.

I skated from 13yrs old to 35yrs old. I am 50lbs heavier because I used to only weigh 115lbs and never went over 130bs until I had my first seizure. The drugs they put me on shot my weight way up. It also messed up my coordination and balance. After all the drama and a couple seizures later I tried to skate and I couldn't even Ollie. I went from a 360 flip down a five step to an old man who couldn't Ollie. I'm 40 now and got the skater trainers. I learned how to ollie again then kickflip and slowly but surely a lot of different tricks that I didn't need to be moving to do. Once I took off the skater trainers I felt like I was Reborn and I truly do owe it to skater trainers giving me my confidence back along with my coordination and balance. I definitely had to relearn 360 shuvit backside 180s front side 180s and 360 flips... Basically anything you need momentum to do but I had the confidence and coordination to relearn all of that because of the skater trainers so I think they are an awesome product in certain situations. I think they're okay for a beginner to learn how to ollie maybe kickflip but after that they gotta come off the wheels because you'll never learn anything with them on because every trick after that you're moving. I don't think this is a midlife crisis since I think I passed midlife at 30 or 25. I hope any old heads out there that got too fat and lost all their balance and coordination but still want to skate can use these things to first lose weight then skate again. There is nothing like that feeling...

Also I would have never used these as a kid to learn tricks personally. I learned like everyone else...feeling how bad it hurts to fall doing a trick and trying anyway to land nice and smooth. Pain is an awesome motivator.

It does help with muscle memory though. That way when riding, it takes a lot less time to relearn

I agree with the not editing of your angry/frustrated footage; that video was intense but at the same time it made you even more relatable. While I've always liked your videos, seeing that definitely makes greater things even more within reach, so I greatly appreciate seeing the entirety of your person like that.
