Are the Celtics hurting themselves with how many 3s they are taking per game?
@theflesh9005

Absolutely. Last year they had such a good offense not because of the 3 point shooting, but because they had a versatile offense that could take advantage of whatever the defense gave them. None of that is happening this year because they’re living and dying by the 3.

Not really, it purely depends on if they have a good day or a bad day with 3s, since they are so good at it,i dont see why not to keep shooting 3s but must know how to manage without them threes.As you said taking these contested shots is quite ridiculous,as they could find almost 10-15 points in paint for free if they reduce their contested shots.

Agreed. I'm low-key shocked Mazzulla, one of the brightest coaches known for good adjustments, really went 14 straight games without adjusting his strategy. I'm not a conspiracy guy, but I'm convinced Joe got abducted and swapped with a double.

He’s been very stuck in his ways with revolving the offense around 3s since he’s been head coach. I’ve never seen him adjust the offense away from 3s.

Joe isn’t overreacting. He understands the team is still second in the east. Now is not the time to change things up. They just need to focus on what they’re doing wrong.

I agree that they need a more versatile offense. Their increasing reliance on the 3 point shot has made their offense predictable and easier to defend. To bring back a healthy versatile offense, consideration should be given to acquiring a point guard with outstanding ball handling skills, that can create shots for himself and others. Someone who can make that tough angle pass, play a two man game with a teammate to create a down low shot, drive through and /or break down defenses to make that timely hand off, lob or hook pass to the corner, and much more. Again the Celts have fallen in love with the 3 ball and having the Js go one on one. We do have players that garner assists, but there are many more opportunities to get teammates the ball that are overlooked due to degree of difficulty of a pass. Currently on a good number of occasions the pass is late or not quite accurate making the shot that much more difficult for the intended receiver or it results in a turn over. We are fortunate to have really good offensive talent in the starting line up but not all 5 are utilized enough to keep them engaged on the court. An energized team oriented versatile offense will spill over to the defensive end. Speaking for myself, I have been watching more Denver games since allegedly "washed up" 35 yr old Westbrook joined the Denver Nuggets at Jokic's urging. The art of unselfish ball passing is now in full display, and their two man game is beyond compare. They recently had triple doubles in the same game...Amazing!

I agree man, Boston need to implement more cutting and man movement that doesn't always end up with someone chucking up a bad 3. The Celtics are beatable right now because of both their excessive 3 point shooting and as you said too many isolations with Brown and Tatum making the offense too stagnant. I think we can all agree that the Celtics are the most dangerous when the ball is moving and they put the defense in rotation but right now they just aren't doing that nearly enough

50 threes per game might just be higher than the limit to how effective of a shot it is.

Tatum is my fav player but I hope he starts shooting more mid range shots. And tone down on the 3 attempts a bit

Diehard Celtics fan for my entire life. I enjoyed the 2018 Celtics way more than this team, which is crazy to say but makes sense to a Celtics fan

If you watch the last few games you can tell they are trying to get into the paint a lot more, it’s just also not working well. I don’t think it’s the 3’s as much as they’ve gone a bit cold overall mid season

After loosing by 13 to the Raptors, they definitely gotta work on opening plays and attack the basket more instead of jacking up 3’s which on a bad shooting night can cause them the game! As Mazzulla says” attention to details!” So get on it guys!! 😵😵‍💫😤💚💯

Have they learnt nothing from the Rockets of old? Still anbrilliant team, but I don’t think they could last in a 7 game series against the Cavs or Thunder.

Most of the issues are just bad culture (too much 3 oriented) and low IQ (players rely on habits instead of instincts and the habit is to take 3 pointers and not think)
