the ordinary is not perfect, but we owe them so much. when i tried to get into skin care i had the choice between the drugstore and expensive brands youtubers recommended like kiehls or fresh. the ordinary bridged that price gap and for a lot of us shifted the focus from packaging and claims to ingredients and concentrations. brands like the inkey list would probably not be here if it wasnt for the ordinary and their success. They have great customer service and ethics, i will probably always have 2 or 3 ordinary products in my routine and will always support and recommend them ❤️

I agree, we do owe TO. Not only is it creating demand for ingredient based, less gimmicky skincare but their competitors have to compete with their prices too. I love seeing products boast about their ingredients rather than overpromising with catchy taglines "anti-ageing, fortifying, hydrating etc" and underdelivering.

Hi Hyram, I bought the Ordinary Niacinamide serum, and it really helped reduce my acne. Most acne treatments i use (for some reason) make my skin look darker and dull, but this product has reduced my acne AND lightened my skin (with a non-oily glow)! I use two drops and pat it into my face. My skincare morning/night routine: Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser (good for basic cleansing), Niacinamide the Ordinary serum, and the CeraVe moisturizing lotion for dry to normal skin (sunscreen in the mornings). Thank you for everything you taught me~

My skin is dry, prone to sebhorroic dermatitis and extremely sensitive and after trying literally *anything* I stumbled into NFM and my life changed forever. It’s literally the gentlest, yet most effective moisturizer I ever tried. It’s thick though, so def not for oily skin. I’ve been using it for over a year, every day and it’s still working flawlessly. I'd love to see a comparison between the ordinary and some of their sister brands like NIOD and Hylamide. Also, I love the squalane cleanser! Definitely for dry and/or sensitive skin, but it was a saviour for my skin this winter. I had upped my retinol usage and was not prepared for how dry my skin would get when winter started, so having a cleanser that wouldn't strip my skin was a godsend. Personally, you need to take your time with it: get it melted, massage into the skin for a good 3-5mins, then emulsify it thoroughly before rinsing off.

I've used Hylamide before - I love the eye serum but I felt that the serum I tried was very similar to TO's Buffet serum and Buffet is loads more inexpensive. I second having an indepth look at NIOD and Hylamide to look at it from an ingredients comparison perspective

Niod (by Deciem) actually focuses on products that are more well-rounded while The Ordinary was just supposed to be a brand like you said, for those who are experienced with skincare but would like to add in solutions to their routine, without paying a huge price for simple ingredients. Deciem actually didn't expect the ordinary to blow up because they had created 10 brands other brands and none of them made it big. Deciem likes to make these helpful ingredients easily accessible to a wide audience where everyone can afford it as well, but I think what would help is if they put instructions on the box or a little paper inside explaining what the product does, how and when to use it, and how much to use. If they don't already. Because even friends have asked me how to use the products. Niod focuses more on the ever changing technology of the skincare industry and formulates with that as the focus. Very interesting. 🤔

Personally, for me, i absolutely adore Rosehip seed oil. I’ve gone through about 4 bottles so far and I want to talk about what I know about it (from a bit of research I did on oils affecting skin) Rosehip seed oil is high in linoleic acid, it also contains a small amount of oleic acid (and according to google has a bit of tretinoin which is a retinoid) linoleic acid is great for oily, acne prone and sensitive skin or skin with eczema while oleic is great for dehydrated (oily but feels dry) dry and combination skin. They work on the oils in your skin itself (which I won’t get into but a quick google search can help you out) so depending on if you have dry skin or if you have oily skin linoleic and oleic acid helps your skin in different ways ^-^ They’re present in oils (i would recommend liah yoo’s video on them myself but google would work just as well) so even if you have super greasy and super oily skin, an oil can do wonders if you pick it correctly. Rosehip seed oil has high levels of linoleic acid, along with its own benefits of retinol and anti oxidants and all that good stuff- basically, you can mix it with your moisturiser or put it on after moisturiser because it has a really good hydrating effect. It helps to repair your skin and helps with your ✨oiliness✨, your acne scars, eczema, and it has anti inflammatory properties :) On to concentration!~ you yourself have linoleic acid in your body and it’s main effect is on the oils coming out of your pores, people with oily skin and a lot of acne have a lower amount of linoleic acid in their skin which makes the oil (coming out of their pores- sorry i forgot its name lmao) thick and sludgy which blocks pores and makes acne :) more linoleic acid = fixes that issue = helps with acne oleic acid is a thicker and richer acid, ✨however✨ while it is great for dry skin you can’t really use 100% of it. Concentration-wise, you should have both acids in your oil / skincare routine to help it balance out (unless 100% only works for you like he said ^-^) use a balance of both, just have MORE linoleic than oleic if you have acne ridden faces and if you have dry skin use a balance of both but more toward the oleic side ~ also, they may be great moisturisers but put them on either before moisturiser or after moisturiser (or you can mix it with moisturiser too!) No hate to hyram, i want to give out information on the topic since I really love oils 🥰

I’ve actually moved away from The Ordinary since I started using their products a year ago, because the brands products helped me figure out what to look for in other, more well-rounded ones. I think they can be good for people trying to isolate the ingredients that work best for their skin or to make sure that it doesn’t create irritation or a reaction. Like, when I started getting good results from the niacinamide 10%, I looked for other serums that built around that ingredient, but included a lot of other complimentary ingredients. While I know The Ordinary can be confusing, I do actually think it’s a good gateway into knowing what exactly works for you, because their formulations are so simple.

usually pea size so fingertip for serums and moisturizers; not too much cleanser just that everything is coated; spf just a lot lot theres no correct amount u could do one layer then one layer again , oh and important; moisturize on damp skin so theres no water evaporation loss (moisturizer with humectans like hyaluronic acid glycerin and emollients like capric glycerides) humectans seek in lots of water/moisture in the skin and the emollients cover the skin to trap in the moisture because of the damp skin u will have to use very less product than u would have to on dry skin !! on damp skin the products will penetrate deeper, so be careful with actives if u have sensitive skin so with serum with an active in it i usually use it after i moisturised and my skin become dry, or after i cleansed and dried my skin (this also with an exfoliant) pls correct me if im wrong im a skincare guru lol look at dr dray her youtube

I do whatever my face can absorb. I'll start with one drop on each cheek and my forehead and massage it in, then add more if it doesn't reach all areas. I do more for serums so like 6 drops total probably of the buffet serum and 4 for niaciminide. For the rose hip oil I do only 3 drops or its way to oily on my face and doesn't absorb. I'll do this one on my fingers and pat it into my face.
@paigeteraji74734 жыл бұрын
it depends on what products you're referring to? do you have any specific ones in mind? for the serums (niacinamide and hyaluronic acid) i only use two drops, for creams (like the azelaic acid) i just use a pea sized drop, for the aha/bha face mask (you have to be very careful about ones like these) you only need to put on a thin layer so one full "syringe" or "squeeze" of the dropper thing is sufficient i believe. im not sure it that helps but its what i do and i have been fine

@@laylasmulders8082 there is definetly a recommended amount of sunscreen to use. Its about 1/2 teaspoon for face and neck. You can use more but you should never use less.

I have psoriasis and I have extremely dry patches on my face, especially around mouth and back towards my ears. I use both the squalene cleanser and the rosehip oil because it's the only few products that don't turn my skin bright red from reactions. Like you said, may not be for everyone but if you have extremely dry skin its worth a try btw- I can't believe I'm this early 😳😳

@@heidiheidi6775 i also use the CereVe Hydrating Cleanser along with Niacinamide serum. I've lately switched to the Inkey List Peptide Moisturizer and I love it! To be honest its never been 100%, but for ME these have worked the best lately. I've also switched to an anti-inflammatory diet and that has helped with my health in general!

Hyram: Everyone knows The Ordinary is super cheap me who comes from Malaysia : 👁👄👁 (edit) Wow, can't believe many people can relate to me 😂😭😭😭😭 I assume all of you are from Asia? the same as me? or not- anyway if we convert the price to MYR (Malaysia money), it cost around 43 MYR - 70 MYR. not to mention for CeraVe, it cost around 40 MYR - 200+ MYR 😭 I know this because I'm a reseller for these and it's rather pricey... my boss had to buy the ones at the UK or Korean website for the authentic and cheaper ones.

I know rightttt! I kinda shifted to another local brand for Niacinamide and Panthenol. But nevertheless, I still use their glycolic acid toner. I just like how wide of a range of products they provide.

wow! Absolutely love this! I was watching you on my TV, but logged into KZbin on my laptop JUST to leave this comment! HAHA thank you so much. I was wondering about The Ordinary products and came across your channel. watched part one and loved it! went to The Ordinary website and almost bought whole regimen. So, I slept on it hahaha , and now I found this Part 2 video where you say its not meant to replace my routine, it meant to add to it! am so grateful for that info. I look at the website and you're right . I don't get the names and percentages and actually got scared out of buying anything. You also said , just cause the percentage is high doesn't mean its a good product for you! Will defo keep that in mind.

I loved the ordinary, I placed my first order exactly a year ago, however... it’s been so sold out.... I haven’t been able to repurchase. I also have pretty sensitive skin so I was pretty sparing with their products so they lasted me a long time. I’m shocked to learn these teenagers are using this as their full routine. I was using their toner (before I ran out), the red exfoliator (before it ran out), and the vitamin c serum and that’s all I needed

I feel like when products start getting popular they don’t put the same effort into the products when they first started it’s more rushed and careless jus to push it to the shelves that’s why newer products don’t work as well and older products don’t work the same anymore I have the same issue with hair products 😑🤦🏽♀️
