You're telling me that no one else could've come up with the idea that maybe the purge might not do anything to benefit society and reduce the anger of humanity in the long run? How is that some mind-blowing discovery that no one else had thought of in that universe?

it isn't...but it's another example to show to an addled public. Sort of like how in europe they had a lot of minor student rebellions that were put down..but eventually led to REAL rebellion and overthrow. Ie the Masses are morons, and always have been. to quote Tommy Lee jones form Men in Black... "a PERSON is smart. PEOPLE are dumb, panicky dangerous animals." Usually the most you can do is try to get them to panic in the right direction and hope there's enough left to rebuild once they've calmed down. IF they calm down. The French Revolution led right into The Terror, after all. there are plenty of other historical examples.
