Lived in that area twice...now housing prices are more than double from eight years ago. Finding a house under $200,000 is likely to be a 'vacation home'...poorly built, no insulation, and other BIG problems and difficult to access on roads poorly maintained and/or on 'the mountain' below Charles Town or Harpers Ferry. Older houses, built close to the river, are known to flood from the two rivers in the area. Just over the line from WV are Virginia and Maryland, even pricier than the WV area. All areas are bedroom communities for Washington D.C. and surrounding area. A very beautiful and historic area, if you can find something in your price range and built well. However, the area has good hospitals, sheriff service, and a few good grocery stores...check out the cheap grocery store in Winchester on the east side. Harpers Ferry, Bakerton and Charles Town sort of run together. One Winter we had a five foot plus snow! No electric, roads impassable...they had to use tanks from the Martinsburg area to bring people in to the hospital. Some fire conpanies are completely volunteeer...with no one on duty during the day. If you are lucky, the neighbors pitch in when they can.

After following both of you for quite some time now, it's awesome to see you all get together. And thank you for sharing the experience with all of us. Just food for thought, we moved to Kentucky almost 9 years ago from western Colorado. I have family and was raised all over Utah and western Colorado. Kentucky is a lot like Virginia with the rolling hills, not much snow, but lots of humidity. It's nice, but eventually you will greatly miss those Rocky Mountains. It's just not the same out here. Thanks again, and all of you keep making and sharing the great content with us. We all love it!

Love this. Welcome to WV my home state. I watch Wild Wonderful Off Grid a lot. So neat seeing them build on the house and then on the AirBNB. Another family you might watch if you haven't on KZbin is Good Simple Living. They have spent 3 years building. First a tiny home in the barn and then their dream home on a homestead. They just moved into the dream home a month or so ago. Their next big build is planned of a garage with full 2 bedroom living space above for the 2 oldest kids. Along with a 3 stall barn with hay storage. All are wonderful families.

I missed this episode, I started watching you for the snow storms that you are getting last year and we weren't, no misunderstanding I don't want that much snow as you guys get. I didn't know you guys knew Kaylee and Jordan, I've actually been watching all three of your shows including Josh and Erin I'm amazed of all of you with the stamina you have building stuff. It amazed me watching you working so high up like it was pretty much nothing. My wife ribs me slightly because it took me 7 years to finish her kitchen. Basically it was the grout on the backsplash that I did not want to handle by myself and took us that long to find somebody to help me. LOL It's really nice finding couples that really get along with each other while working, even under stress like garage doors. 😂😂 Really happy for you getting everything dried in before the snow. I've been watching more of the KZbin channels than regular TV anymore because it's just not as interesting as your builds. Looking forward for more videos. Stay safe Kurt Erie pa

Loved Allie's voiceover at the end about spending time with Josh and Erin: "...it reminded us of how small the world really is. That we're all just trying our best to raise our kids, sustain our families, help our neighbors and build something beautiful." So nice, Allie! I love your voiceovers, especially because they always seem to sum up the experience and are so heartfelt. And another thing you guys have in common with Josh and Erin that you don't with other VanLifers, even those building or remodeling a home, is that you guys are parents. I think that brings a maturity to the four of you that I don't see in the other KZbinrs I watch.

Most adorable image ever: Leo behind the orange blanket in his carseat. OMG as sweet as a dozen puppies with big eyes. Also, spending time alone with your partner away from kids is so important to your relationship. Marriages are hard work and you need this time to reconnect and remember who you are together. Leo won't remember the day spent with his grandparents when he was 1, but he will remember the incredible marriage and partnership his parents have on a daily basis while he was growing up. Nurturing your marriage is good for Leo and will help him to grow up healthy and strong emotionally and physically.
