if i may say so, i believe a fish and a bird live in perfect harmony in their particular relationship. and thus, you don't see a bird go looking for a fish when the mating season approaches nor the fish jumps out of the water to get near the bird. they both are aware of their circumstances and of whom they are. the way i see it, only in the human realm, "fishes" and "birds" mingle in the most odd ways until the time they mature enough as to realize who they really are and go on living "fish lives" and "bird lives". sorry for my english. Unconditional love is not the same as unconditional relationships. I can love someone unconditionally yet set clear boundaries and conditions for our relationship. My unconditional love is what allows me to still act from love when those boundaries have been crossed and conditions have been broken. It has to do with the way I approach and act towards others, not that I let them run over me.

I think we can love unconditionally. We can't have a good relationship without conditions. As miss Swan says, to love unconditionally means to be detached of that human being. You can care for them from afar, without letting them too close, knowing that their behavior can disrupt your life or can make you suffer. That's why I ended up believing "love" and "relationship" are 2 different things. Love is a feeling, relationship is a choice. Even loving someone insanely you might choose not to have a relationship with them, because you can see they aren't compatible to you.

I agree with 99.9% of what you’ve said here although I think I personally draw a distinction between unconditional love and an unconditional relationship. I love my ex unconditionally and always will however there were conditions for me being able to continue the relationship with him which he chose not to meet - hence he is now my ex. This doesn’t mean I love him any less I just have made the choice not to sacrifice myself in order to continue the relationship with him.
@m1galler4 жыл бұрын
Ya i agree. This is somewhat distorted teaching. You love someone unconditionally by letting them be whoever they want to be and do what makes them happy. Not getting what you want and hving them do what they want to you. In order to love them unconditionally you have to at the same time treat yourself the same way. So when you disagree you disagree. When something isnt how you like it you change it. That has nothing to do with how much you love them though. I think this teaching is conflicted in idea and connects things that arent really connected.

I absolutely agree with this. After having a few relationships and being long married to the one I thought he was the love of my life, I felt very often uncomfortable with his unmet needs and ideas about what the ideal wife should be. Later, of course, escalation of situations ( phisical violence) led to divorce. But then I searched first to find/define my own Self, needs and values, and moved across the continent, to finally meet the real Love of my life, One who's mostly compatible and loving, as a manifestation to my prayers/clear desires. It's absolutely mandatory to be authentic and honest with yourself and with the possible partners, wherever it's about life partner or anybody else who are playing a role in your everyday life. KAL Well, a lot of people these days are simply "indoctrinated'' by the media, the educational system and the government (without knowing it most of the time), it is almost impossible for them to hear another point of view weither the subject is political, historical or philosophical etc. So these persons realize their own hostility towards different opinions only when they are confronted to them, but wherever they go the majority of people around them has and share the same ideas. Though I did`t like it. I truly felt and saw everything with love and loved and understood him naturally and also lovingly accepted my powerlessness in changing his mind about not wanting to see me at this time in his life. Love is, by its very nature, unconditional. Relationships are not unconditional. You can love someone and want the absolute best for them and never want to see them again because they are utterly toxic for you. Humanity is capable of this love. Relationships need Communication to be able to understand what the other person needs in that relationship. As we grow as individuals, those needs will grow and mature with time. OMG!!! I just realized something while watching this video. TS said true love is taking the other as yourself. This is why LOVE .... true love ... is SO POWERFUL!!! We take the other as our self. Which means we expand. We grow. And the other person expands and grows, too. It's a resonate or symbiotic thing that moves between the two of you and grows and expands life. And we can do this for ALL OF LIFE, too. We can take ALL of life as a part of ourselves. As we grow and expand our love .... it goes far beyond personal love .... it's more like PURE LOVE .... I don't what else to call it .... we have this pure love or pure joy for ALL OF LIFE. ALL of it!!! Everyone and everything. It's not like I have to LIKE everything or everyone. BUT I can still LOVE everyone and everything, regardless. Even the crappy parts, because it's a part of the WHOLE. NOTHING is separate. Nothing stands alone. I feel like this is the end result of shadow work or parts therapy or coming into full awareness of our fractured selves. Again, I don't have to LIKE everything - I certainly DO NOT like some things that have occurred in my life. BUT I do know that I could not have grown without the pain and trauma. And it's that's growth that I can love and therefore love even the shadow parts of life. All of it. Every bit. The good, the bad, the ugly. How do I know my boundaries unless I've had these type of experiences? How do I know growth otherwise? How do I expand? All things become a part of me and I become a part of all things. I feel that this is so very, very, very powerful.

Omg.... I so rarely comment, but your perspective has unlocked such a treasure in perception and yet I've sometimes in the past I felt honest about my conditions. Honesty does save everyone's time (in my view). I value your work and your team's very much!

Unconditional love , loving regardless of the conditions , And yet , you are a creator and get to create the conditions you want , And you are loving the whole time , And the true place to find love , is within .

Thank you for this relationship education. I strongly believe many people lack some fundamental understandings on interactions with all other sentient beings. Keep doing what you are doing! You have an innate understanding and ability to communicate this information. You are humble. You are kind. You are wise. You thrive on helping others. You are a very good person. I am so glad I came across you during an internet search. You are the real deal. Stay just who you are. You are touching so many lives for all to be their greatest potential! Lots of unconditional Love!

Teal I cried all day long and prayed to the infinite cosmos to protect all innocent beings. I saw some abhorrent cruelty cases. When I see those cases I become suicidal because I do not know how to deal with this at all.

There is truth in what your saying if you define unconditional love that way but for me it just means supporting your partner to be who they want to be and not who you want them to be. My personal example is a mother that has an agenda and will only show love if I’m doing something that helps her with that agenda “conditional love”. Vs my dad that actually loves me and doesn’t not need my decisions to serve him in order for him to be supportive. “Unconditional love”

Unconditional love exists in almost all relationships. It occurs when we open up our hearts and truly give without expectation of receiving. It may just be a moment when we turn to someone and smile, but it's there. However, what often follows is conditional love in all the ways you mentioned, including the standards we have every right to hold our partners to as they pertain to meeting our needs in a compatible relationship. Is it possible to place these standards (our needs) within the larger context of unconditional love----holding a higher love for the other regardless of what they do? Yes, it is. It's not easy, but this is what the great spiritual masters have taught and what our Higher Selves are calling us to do. It's the mountain we are climbing one step at a time.

Very interesting video, and a lot of good points! Discussing love is always complicated because 'love' is vague and exists in many forms. The Ancient Greeks held several terms for love. The most known ones are: eros, for romantic love, philia, for friendly or familial love, and agape, for unconditional and universal love. Teal Swan seems to be describing romantic love when she talks of identifying the other as part of oneself, in some sense. Agape loves the other (more precisely, all others) unconditionally without identifying the other as self. It is an acceptance and recognition of the other as their own independent self, and then an active concern for the well-being of that other, for their own sake.

For the sake of being supportive, I want to share something I wrote in Dec. 2019. I was getting to what Teal understands very well. -- In a world where humans would be well adapted to their environment, there would be love everywhere between everybody. Everybody would identify strongly to being part of their group, and they would take care of each other just like love makes us do. So "being with someone" wouldn't be about love, it would be about taste and preferences and practicality. The biggest problem with us today is that love is hard to find, and we are scared of loosing it when we find it.-- I would write it differently now, but all I want to do is share this video. :)

I was thinking that "I just want to find someone compatible, I don't need to love them or be loved by them", now I realized that if I found that person who is compatible with me, I would had found the perfect relationship... so, I am striving for the best, thinking that I am asking for something simple or being humble... what a strange paradox.

It's been a while since I shared your videos. I feel now like in the past your energy pulls me in and no matter what your videos are about they apply to me at that moment. It came across to me this morning after watching a few shooting stars"more to follow tomorrow" That we all have to share something.I think for you "Teal" there will be a place for your spiritual and earthboundknowledge that will be a required study for those that are being rescued. Your biography and method of advancements is a perfect way for the little ones, to study, that have no clue about how to adapt to this life. I thank you again for being here and being the person you are in pure form. It's odd that our Birth dates are 1 day apart. It makes me wonder about where we come from in the universe. cheers!

I love your humor haha...so moral of the story is find someone as compatible as you and those conditions won't seem as bad cause they're most aligned with who I really am... makes sense. I hate when ppl being up unconditional love... cause it's a very falsified thing to do... puppies & babies might be the only "things" that are loved unconditional

There is an old song by the Isley Brothers and part of the song goes something like this: At your best, you are loved, your a positive motivating source within my life , if you ever feel the need to wonder why, let me know. I believe the closest you can get unconditional love is from and towards ones child. Everyone else has to do something to get something. It is what it is 💛💛💛

Incredible video Teal! And I love how the text appears as you're saying it. Makes it much easier to follow somehow. The angry scenes, though, I found distracting. I actually had to look away to hear your words. Anyway this has inspired a ton of action on my part already. Thank you so much again! Let's keep changing life on this planet for the better!

I think what communities that use this terminology and on a base level understand what it means are trying to say that you should have unconditional love for your own self, all sides of the self...which leads into knowing what your own conditions for a friendship or relationship are, because you know and accept yourself. This thought is merely a postulation thru observation tho, and am open to discussion on it. As far this video content is concerned, I've definitely felt confirmed on the beliefs I've had about relationship compatibility, and have learned more in depth of the nature of unconditionality. I greatly appreciate you.
