Okay so, I did a rescue on a snail in my garden 😅 his shell was cracked so I repaired it with eggshell (it's a thing! lol) and it was super stressed and as a stress response they buzz and foam out slime like crazy! So I am inclined to believe they do intentionally stress them to collect more mucin.

Can u give me some tips? I took a snail home with me yesterday and did mix some Eggshells and Soil together. Up till now nothing looks changed. I took her home since the shell was really thin, dry and faling appart in some areas.😅 ( Also i did add some green from the nearby park as well). Its my first time doing this and I am actually really nervouse and dont know if it will help.😶🧿 At the moment she is vibing on one bigger eggshell pice.

@@lisal.1114 few days late so I hope everything's going well, but her on the eggshell piece is good! I believe the eggshells work because the snails eat it, and the calcium is what helps them with their shells, so as long as you leave the eggshells out in the open she'll slowly eat them and get better

I use the Cosrx Snail Mucin Power Essence and they do say on their website that the snails are placed over a mesh in a quiet, dark room and left to roam freely, leaving their mucin behind. I don’t know anything about how snails live or how one might care for or feed a snail but I do like that Cosrx seems to care for the well-being of the snails they use for their product. The website also says that no external pressure is applied to force mucin production.

@@user-mi8xf8tq1z it’s really not that bad for me personally. It’s just more of like a thick serum texture. It’s less sticky on the skin than the hyaluronic acid cream I use from cosrx. It gives a lot of moisture to the skin. All I do is use one pump for the bottom of my face and a half pump for my forehead. I just rub it into the skin and pat. It dries down well and I’ve heard of people with really oily skin using it as their only moisturizer before makeup. I don’t notice it at all after I apply my morning moisturizer on top. @johnmichaelarnaud
@johnmichaelarnaud 8 ай бұрын
@@brandi1294 Yes, they do. COLLAGEN doesn't get into the skin because it's too big. Peptides, which are mere fragments of proteins, are small enough to penetrate. Now the jury is still out on whether they do what manufacturers say they do once they're in there. Science is ongoing. At the very least, they are good hydrators, so there's no harm in using them, and many peptide products are inexpensive enough that you aren't wasting much money if it turns out they aren't as effective as advertised. Some brands, like Stratia, are even using "carrier" peptides, which help active peptides operate in a focused manner and get where they're going once they enter the skin.
@brandi1294
@brandi1294 8 ай бұрын
@@johnmichaelarnaud they don’t get past the top layers of the skin which is where they are needed to do what they claim they do. Sitting at the top just acts like a barrier to keep moisture in.
@johnmichaelarnaud
@johnmichaelarnaud 8 ай бұрын
@@brandi1294Not all peptides are the same, so you can't paint them with a broad brush. They are different sizes. Some DO penetrate the skin. And those that might not can be formulated with penetration-enhancers or encapsulated to accompany carrier peptides to get down in there. I can't speak to every formulation on the market, and there are some that undoubtedly act only as humectants, but there is a lot of good research out there to support their use and efficacy. I'll just leave it at that.

If they just never invite any influencers into their facilities to make videos about it - no issues with image and status either. So no, they can't get into trouble by just lying on their website. As a vegan, to me it’s about not viewing animals as a resource and respecting them in their place. I know it gets iffy with bees, personally I stay away from most bee products but if I buy something on accident I don’t return it as it likely will just get thrown out.
@Andy-xx3tt
@Andy-xx3tt 11 ай бұрын
@@butterflygirl7254That’s taking it a little far though because it seems needlessly restrictive and where do you even draw the line? I understand not wanting to eat animals but using what’s already there or using animals for something they do instinctively (such as farm cats used for rodent control) doesn’t harm you or them. On farms, lactating cows need to be milked because their udders can become engorged and very painful. Since they need to be milked, why not consume that milk instead of wasting it or letting them suffer? Same with chickens, they’ll produce eggs with or without males, so why not eat their eggs instead of just letting them go bad? For eggs, milk, and even honey, you can make the argument that consumption is unnecessary because there are vegan alternatives *but* it completely dismisses the fact that those “better” alternatives may very well be produced through unethical means or be harmful to the environment in a different way. Coconut oil is popular among vegans yet it became highly controversial when it was discovered that many manufacturers were using trained monkeys to pick coconuts. Agave sweetener, a popular alternative to white sugar and honey, has also come under scrutiny because of sustainability concerns as well as exploitative labor practices.

@@Andy-xx3ttWoah…I never looked at veganism from that standpoint! Personally, I’m all in support for being vegan and living without the use of animal products but from what you’re saying, if done ethically, we’re not actually contributing to the suffering of another animal(Wish animal cruelty wasn’t a concept known to man) and can actually be looked at as a natural way of living. Kind of like how certain species of fish feed on what’s left in a whale’s mouth. It comes at no negative cost to the whale and is actually beneficial for them. I agree with your assessment 100%. The company that makes "not milk" is using an AI algorithm to help them take plant ingredients to make dupes for animal products. What we may not realize is that a lot of the compounds animals produce are also produced by plants, albeit in different quantities. The AI will come up with a "recipe" that details the quantities of specific ingredients that will replicate the chemical signatures of the desired animal products. I would love to see that technology put to work for skin care!

My dad is in the snail mucin industry and told me how they get it. The snails basically crawl on a mesh sheet in the dark and the mucin drips down. It doesn’t hurt the snail they just do their snail things. 🐌 BUT, the company my dad is in bought these machines to make the process go quicker. I’m guessing it spins like a washing machine and the snails crawl on it faster?

For the texture? Kind of. But they don't do exactly the same. Either way, there is glycerin in almost every serum and moisturizer and even in some toners, so you don't need to buy a separate product just for the glycerin

I think there has to be a line drawn somewhere with the whole vegan thing. For example, driving. When driving, you are killing hundreds and hundreds of bugs. We see them splattered all over the front of the vehicle. Same for walking. We will be standing on ants and all sorts of other similar things. Now I understand that snails are not actually insects, but my point still stands. The line needs to be drawn somewhere. Of course, the most sensible thing would be for everyone to make their own line, but I get the impression that being part of the vegan community, you are almost being watched and judged by other vegans. “I’m a better vegan than you” kinda thing. It leads to things like this, where you actually feel that it is ethically acceptable, but the peer pressure and fear of judgment make you choose against using it; rather than actually deciding based on your own assessment of the ethics around that particular product.

@essaly7969
@essaly7969 11 ай бұрын
Of course, everyone kills insects just by walking etc, that's why there is "as far as is possible and practicable" in the most commonly accepted description of veganism. Medical treatments are also tested on animals, and it would be wild for someone to refuse life-saving medication just for this. But tbh, vegan or not, everyone draws their own line at a different point. Some people would refuse to eat cats or dogs. Some people would refuse to eat horses. Some people would refuse to eat cows. Vegans try to refuse anything that is linked to animal exploitation, but I'm sure most of them don't think eating oysters or using snail mucin products is as bad as eating pigs. I agree that some of them should take a step back and realize that there is no need to be 'perfect' in their consumption choices. But snail mucin is not a necessity so it's still commendable to avoid it if it goes against your morals.

I heard that with the Cosrx snail mucin they put snails on mesh sheets in a dark room and let them slide around on the mesh and then they collected the mucin that’s left on the mesh from the snails without harming them,(I heard it from James welsh,but correct me if I’m wrong) I hope all the companies that makes products that have snail mucin in it have a way of getting the mucin without harming the snails,cause they’re so many more ways to get them without harming or stressing them
@engine_erin

I am not sure about cosrx, but a lot of these companies kill the snails after they are done with them (as opposed to releasing them), so they can sell them to restaurants. This might be fine for some people, but it might not align with the values of people who are looking for the "cruelty free" label.
