Honestly my main problem with Snyder’s New 52 Batman run was what you touched on: it was always mega event after mega event, always earth shattering all the time. He went right from Court of Owls to Death of the Family to Zero Year to Endgame. It never felt like he knew how to take a breather, so nothing felt grand after a while because nothing felt small. It was just too much all the time. I loved his earlier work on Batman with Black Mirror and his short series Severed, but after that it feels like he lost the sense of writing character moments in lieu of EPIC ACTION ALL THE TIME

And as much as people shit on Morrison, and there's a lot to shit on, at least his JLA run stayed to one or two big concepts per arc and they would go to space or other dimensions every so often so the earth wasn't constantly at threat

Bendis is an old man who loves his job, and I can't be mad at him for aging up Jon. I can however be mad at Scott Snyder for making this edgy train wrek of a story that has dragged on since 2017! It's been 3 fucking years and Scott has been writing the same damn story over and over! Brian Micheal Bendis' run will be mostly Rectoned, like Tom King's will be. That's unavoidable. Scott Snyder rewrote the entire Multiverse to be the exact opposite of what it was originally and now other writers are gonna have to figure out what to do the GIGANTIC FUCKING RETCONS as well as their long term effects! I swear to God, Year of the Villain was just him trolling rather than finishing his damn story!

( I tuned out after aquaman left) I don't care how much Bendis loves his job, his writing is dreadful. he ruined superman's family in a matter almost as nonsensical as spiderman one more day, he ruined Young Justice and connir Kent's return and reintroduction and De story Johnathan Kent future, character development, better stories and Super Sons Stardom. Only in comic books to that all those failures a quite to a promotion to writing for Justice League.

Yea, Snyder seems really eager to do stuff. Impatient, even. It would have been interesting to have Luthor on board as a member of the Justice League for a few adventures. Then have a plotline where he has to go to the future in order for them to win and he sees the Luthor worship future. Then it kinda eats at him in the back of his mind while he tries to resist. Eventually, he betrays the League in pursuit of his future in like a fully dedicated story.

My favorite arc in Scott snyder justice league was the sixth Dimension arc with superman going All might on the Forager with that one punch moment from superman remembering his boy Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy being his little 10 year old self and him remembering his adopted father was really adorable and awesome :).

Don't forget having his villains be ridiculously overpowered to the point that it makes the story draaaaaaaaaaag. The Batman Who Laughs is practically a God, because his level of foresight is fucking impossible! If this had been ANY other person besides Bruce Wayne, this laughing Gary Stu would be up there with Superboy-Prime on "villains we wish would die and STAY DEAD". I mean killing him made him stronger for fuck sake!

Its such a critical run for me because it got me into other fantastic similar runs like Grant Morrison's run on JLA and Grant Morrison's run on Batman...I would have gotten to them eventually, but Dark Knights Metal followed by this series REALLY got me hooked on these characters, particularly Hawkman and Martian Manhunter. It's a crime that those two characters aren't more popular. The art on this Justice League series has been consistently fantastic. Also, bonus points for tiff being on episode 😀

Snyder’s run on JL has been fun, but for the most part, it’s nothing mind blowing. Except for the Sixth Dimension Arc. That was the most impactful JL story I’ve read in a very long time. There’s one panel in it that perfectly encapsulates the character of Superman and it gives me chills every time I see it.

That multi-episode story where they go into the comic book world where it's like a golden age world was my absolute favorite as a kid, and it still holds up to this day imo.

Clark said no so Luthor said "Well, maybe I'll become a villain again since you don't wanna hang out with me!"

That's not exactly what happened. Lex said that he lost faith in Superman and didn't trust him anymore. He never indicated that he was gonna turn back to villainy, just that he wasn't okay with Superman at that point since he took too long to save him from Apokolips. If anything that could have led to him trying to be an even better hero than Superman.

Lex being good was beaten down by No Justice. He reluctantly accepted pessimism as the decay of humanity’s touch on the galaxy-as seen by the one Omega Titan preference of the planet. I felt like this entire run on Justice League was watching Luthor’s own decaying of the soul. The guy even gives away his humanity and he is a KNOWN braggart of being the MOST human, a self made king. From reformed villain/stand-in Superman to the inhuman right hand for the goddess of destruction.
