highly intriguing debate post-episode about 'that scene.' there was a lot of discussion online back when this episode first came out, as one can prolly imagine... was daphne in the wrong for doing that? i think the consensus is yea...that was wrong. was simon in the wrong for not being totally honest n up front about his issue with children instead of allowing daphne to think the option was hopeless? ...yeah, that was wrong too. what webs we weave....

Speaking as a man, being tricked into raising a kid that isn't yours is definitely one of the scariest things that can happen. Not only is it demoralizing, but you feel as though you were used and taken advantage of, while the woman you're with went and had her fun with another man, and had you take responsibility for it. For some men, it can even lead to fatal consequences.

I am a woman and I agree. This is textbook being used and taken advantage of. It is also worse for Colin who has his whole life ahead of him as opposed to an old man who will probably die before the kid is born

As a woman, I agree with you too. Why should a man be tricked into raising someone else's kid unwittingly. What Marina is doing is 100% crap.

Pen defender through and through. I think Marina was manipulative. Fantasy or not Colin and Pen are friends and she's right to look out for him.

I couldn't agree more! Pen was Marina's ONLY friend, the only person who cared about her in that house. And the one thing she asked of her was not to trap Colin. And Marina basically told her F**k your feelings. So, in my opinion, she got what she deserved. 🤷🏾‍♀

Same. Marina's situation was tough, no question. But that doesn't give her the right to drag someone else down with her- to basically steal the rest of his life away from him just to save her own ass

That Daphne and Simon scene was wild. Ultimately they were both in the wrong. Simon took advantage of Daphne's naiveté of how being physically intimate works, because Why in the world would he assume she knew how intercourse worked when he had to teach her about pleasuring oneself. I was like Sir, you are not that dumb. However, Daphne should have stopped. And we can't say consent wasn't a thing back then because they practiced it during their first time. I understand your gripe with Penelope's involvement, but even with her crush on Colin, He is still her friend first, and that's long before Penelope knew Marina as a cousin. Penelope saw Colin show interest in courting Marina before she knew about the pregnancy and she never interjected herself to stop him. It was only when she heard of the baby that she got involved and asked Marina not to choose him. Put yourself in her shoes, would you let your friend be maid a fool like that. I know I wouldn't. Penelope and Colin are long time friends. They literally live across the street from each other. I feel bad for Marina though. Society was not fair to women then.

I wasnt in the fandom in s1 but it was definitely a hot topic for sure. Imo they were both wrong regardless what Daphne knew or did not know Also i'm team Pen, sorry Marina! Pen is friends with eloise and Colin it would not allow her morals to accept that colin would be fooled like that. As for Marina i get it, she was in a very dangerous situation but still very very wrong of her to entrap Colin

i don’t know that i completely agree that daphne was wrong bc there is no guarantee that simon would’ve told her the truth if she had asked him about it point blank. i still think he would’ve lied to her in some other way. i think daphne did the only thing she could think to do in order to find out the (utterly absurd) truth of simon’s can’t/won’t decision.

You mentioned the dialogue is fast, Shonda Rhimes shows, Scandal, How to get away with Murder, maybe Grey’s Anatomy, I never watched it, the scenes can be very fast paced. It may be a Shonda thing.

Girlll yall are in it now. This whole scene was a hot topic after it aired. Simon was dead ass wrong. Daphne was dead ass wrong too. Penelope is that girl who wants the guy bur the guy doesn't see her like that. Penelope was Hella wrong for spilling that tea, it wasn't her place. Thank yall for the reaction update
