Actually they're very close to the same age... In the episode where Sinclair becomes Valen & welcomes the Minbari Warrior Caste to Babylon 4 behind him are 2 Vorlon encounter suits opened & above them is a Vorlon in their natural form (looking at Sinclair/Valen) Kosh is on the left & Ulkesh is on the right. What Kosh meant by "being recognized by everyone" for the reason they need the encounter suits is the Vorlons inserted into every races DNA that when they saw a Vorlon they would see essentially a God or an Angel & they would hear their language. That's why when Kosh saved Sheridan when he had to jump from the bombing of the transport tube all the delegates saw a winged being with the head of their own race. That's what a Vorlon truly looks like. Well except the head is all blinding energy too. Make sense?

Kosh and Ulkesh knew exactly what was going to happen thanks to Valen, so they really didn't have to say anything. In fact, saying something could potentially alter things, so the right decision was to stay silent and just let it happen. But, I think, Kosh took a little pity in Delenn's desperation. So, instead of staying silent, he gave her a word to hold on to. Essentially saying, don't worry, things are gonna fall right into place so easily that there's no need to fear. However, he couldn't say that either, so in classic Vorlon fashion, he said something vague, cryptic, and also factual. I suspect Ulkesh probably would have rolled his eyes at Kosh....if he had any.

I don't think it's just what Valen told them. And the Shadows think if the Vorlons or Vorlon technology goes to Za'ha'dum they will die or something. Now, it's likely that Kosh didn't know exactly how things would play out; that Sheridan would even meet Lorien, and eventually bring an end to the Shadow War. The Warrior leadership kills themselves out of frustration and shame. The idea Kosh is Merlin brings a lot of nuance here. If the Vorlons "age backwards" or already know the future and perhaps how mutable it could be, would their cryptic speech be a product of them being as cautious as they can in changing the course of future events? Then again, at least Kosh personally knew Valen/Sinclair and recognized this as being a pivotal event.
@Kalebfenoir Жыл бұрын
I don't think they age backwards; that was a joke about Merlin aging backwards. But they're at a point in their evolution where they must be able to predict fairly accurately how people will behave ahead of time. The only time their predictions run short would be in the case of interference -- like Shadow interference. It's hard to predict an enemy who can do the exact same to you. But in the case of the Minbari and Humanity, they had thousands of years of data on both species already sifted through. Kosh KNEW. The Vorlons knew about the transmigration of souls from Minbari to Humans, and said nothing. Because they needed both races. Minbari for their stoicness, their strong warrior culture, and their willingness to accept any order if it came from the Vorlons...and the Humans for their intuitiveness, their stubbornness, and potentially for the willingness to fight and die if they felt the cause was just. Simply telling the Minbari might have caused a worse negative reaction than what happened. If you found out your races's souls were being moved to another species, and your species was on the decline because of it...wouldn't you want to change that? So they didn't tell them; they let them discover the transmigration, and that put an INSTANT halt to the war.

Makes it so much less climatic, if shadows were involved to be honest :/ they're practically the satan of B5 and in most expanded media before their departure, they were the reason for all the bad shit happening apparently EVER. It got really tiring. The shadows desired chaos, desired for the strong to overcome the weak and become stronger themselves, this doesnt Mean wholesale slaughter nor the finer points of putting a trigger happy jar head in charge of a fleet. Next, its gunna be suggested that the shadows made the grey council take that particular ship at that particular crossing at that particular time. The vorlons have had at least a modest pressence on minbar since the end of the previous shadow war, they would have detected such intrusion, especially at their weakest and when the Vorlon were most alert knowing that the shadows were moving about.

Not it does not but it does not exclude it: look at what they did with Londo. They found a person receptive to their goals, and helped him get in to a position to start a war, and when he started pulling back they switched to Refa and used him to more wars. And even among the other races they tempted or threatened many to go to war. Their Philosophy can be summed up as Survival of the Fittest, and the main means is conflict. So it actually fits their MO to manipulate things in such a way that at least on one side you have people likely to start a conflict. And also do things to prevent knowledge of their resurgence getting out, before they want to. As the Dukat wanted to visit Zahadum ...

What throws me off is, if this is the Earth-Minbardi War we're looking at, Delenn should not look like she does. This is pre-chrystalis.

They had to ditch Delenn's androgynous look, because she had allergic reactions to the huge amount of makeup and glue-on bits required.

Did STAR TREK have any aliens like the Vorlons? I can't think of any. It seems the humans are the smartest in both universes.
