Awesome tutorials. Luv the fact that you go slowly and are so thorough. Easy to follow along. Thank you so much for these. I've done many afghans using the basic tunisian stitch (looks kind of like aida cloth when a large piece is made) and then cross stitch simple motif patterns over it using yarn instead of floss. They are beautiful and completely original. You are correct, doing two or three rows of single crochet around the edges does help with the curling, but for myself I found doing two rows of half double crochet works better. Like you say, dealers choice. Again, thank you for all these wonderful tutorials.

This was a great tutorial. I’ve watched several others but this made the process so easy. And i hate fiddly or complicated things so i love how you explain where they will be and how to make it less fiddly or how to bypass the fiddliness altogether. Thanks!!!

I also like the clean edges, you are the only one who seems to do it this way. I am going to try this with a bigger hook because it is such a dense fabric when you use a smaller hook and also I think I will use the knit stitch. I will let you know how it turns out. Great tutorial, you are great at showing how easy it is to learn something new. Thank you for your many great tutorials.

Thanks. I'm doing a texture afghan and was trying to find the right way to add something of interest in an area and I did the stitch all the way along the whole row in one color (A) then I switched between blocks with 2 other colors (B and C). Then I did the whole row of color A again to make it very different but using the same techniques. It worked perfectly to follow along with you to get it started.

Thanks for a great tutorial! Love how this C2C method keeps the edges straight instead of jagged like working entrelac in rows or in the round. Must try this approach to an entrelac baby blanket I'm trying to make. One thing I tried does help reduce the number of yarn ends to weave in later. When adding a new yarn, leave a long enough tail to work at least 1 full row. Use the working yarn to ch6 & work foundation row, then switch to tail yarn and work row 2, then switch back to working yarn to continue remaining rows/blocks. The tail will be securely worked into the pattern without needing to be woven in. If desired, you can work over the remaining tail when adding the next Row's starter block before trimming the excess. :-)

Hi Fiber Spider! I was so happy to come across your channel recently. With the cold weather we've been having, I have been crochetting a lot more, but I found myself a bit uninspired. After watching several of your videos, I gained a renewed love of this wonderful craft. I finished off a simple hat I was working on, and then I made the pixie hat you shared in just one afternoon, and loved it! Additionally, I have tried entrelac several times in the past, but ran out of patience before I could get very far. After watching your video, it suddenly made sense and I'm very proud of what I have been able to learn with your help. My next project will be the amazing kimono-inspired shawl you shared recently. I am so excited! I'm just waiting on my yarn to arrive. :D I just wanted to send a big thank you for sharing your skills, insight and love with the world. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful creations! Thanks for your time.

Hi Fiber Spider! Can you do a video on the rectangle alternating (turning at the end like C2C and not changing yarn) Tunisian square blanket? It’s so pretty to be the same on both sides. And it lays so much flatter with less edge curl. It also makes for a “checker board” look. 😃

How many rows and stitches.
@rubypickles18367 жыл бұрын
I made each block 12 sts long and 10 row high. The st at the beginning and end don't really look like part of the pattern so the blocks look 10x10. I also built the pattern starting with the very center block then around and around it with each "row". You can look for "entralac in the round" on youtube if you want an example. Mikey from Crochet Crowd has a good tutorial.

Thank you for the fantastic tutorial! I had been planning a scrap buster entrelac blanket, but I have many different brands (and vintages!) that I am hoping to include. To avoid changes in gauge, I was thinking I could maybe play with hook size if it is super noticeable on a color that just HAS to be worked in. Have you ever done this? Am I perhaps (*snort* NEVER!) overthinking it?

Well, that's settled: I've got a couple odd jumbo skeins of ice cream yarn and now I know what I will be doing with them. The ice cream is so yummy in this entrelac. Best part of entrelac: I can use my regular ergonomic hooks instead of the straight Tunisian hooks (which aren't as comfy for me). Entrelac has been on my mental to do list for ages. This is further motivation. I really appreciate that these are situated as squares instead of diamonds. Good to have variety, right?
@abbynormal47404 жыл бұрын
vegangelist Funny, while watching this I was thinking the very same thing about my stash of ice cream... Great minds, huh? ;-D The original plan had been to do C2C baby blankets, but I was uneasy about how suitable C2C fabric gaps are for tiny hands and feet. Tunisian entrelac has the look of C2C, is more solid and works up quickly - win-win-win!
