No doubt. Not just great, but GORGEOUS. Interesting trivia: Ida later directed the season five TZ episode "The Masks."

The Masks.......... They seem to be what so many people wear, nowadays. So full of pretense, saying that they care, when they don't. Even many "Preachers", purporting "Righteousness" from their high and lofty Pulpits, while, all the time, their hearts are more black than midnight in Hell! They call out for you to support their particular causes...by giving them your hard-earned money, that you worked and sweated for. People make "Preachers" like that rich...but if any of their Parishioners needed help, suddenly, that "Preacher" is too busy to help them...and sometimes...they "Can't be reached"! Look at the Politicos, that claim to help us, but that have other things on their agenda to accomplish, and they care little, about what happens to us! There are so many other facets that I could touch on...but time forbids. Only a scant few go through this life, without ever having to wear a Mask, because they're honest. The rest wear the Masks of Greed, Falsehood, and deceptions, that are of and on a massive scale. Those.....are the ones who wear masks!

To the wishes that come true, to the strange, mystic strength of the human animal, who can take a wishful dream and give it a dimension of its own. To Barbara Jean Trenton, movie queen of another era, who has changed the blank tomb of an empty projection screen into a private world. It can happen in the Twilight Zone.

Ida Lupino was a renowned director as well as a consummate actor. She directed one of the series most memorable episodes, " The Masks. " Her husband, Howard Duff, starred in " A world of Difference, " another TZ episode.

"ACTRESS" is the correct advective.

Ida Lupino, a wonderful actress, and one of the first female directors. She was in a lot of notable movies. My favorite though was a noir film, "On Dangerous Ground," with Robert Ryan. I believe when the director took ill, Ida took over. Great character actors, and it jibbed with my sojourns in the West after growing up Industrial.

Martin Balsam's portrayal of Danny is much more emotional than his performance as the ill-fated detective in "Psycho".

Ted DeCorsia was best known for playing ruthless gangsters and "hoods" in various movies and TV roles- Rod Serling used him in two "TWILIGHT ZONE" episodes: here, as a ruthless, insensitive movie executive, and Dickerson, the foreman replaced by a machine in season five's "The Brain Center At Whipple's".

Actually he's mellowed and sensitive here. When his offer of a role is dismissed he becomes angry and caustic. They've clashed before of course but he seems to have changed whereas she is still the prima donna she was in her prime.

A lot of actresses would not have taken the role of the aging actress. Good for Ida Lupino. She still looked great.

But men have no problem playing an aging actor.

I do that, watch my play on DVD, and wish I was doing them again.

No, the real "loss" is when short sighted directors think an actress is "washed up" after she turns 40! That's the whole point of the scene.

Why did she worry about aging? I've just seen her in They Drive by Night (1940), and she wasn't as beautiful as she is in the Twilight episode.
