Here's why the OG Rogue Trader book had a Rainbow Warrior getting shot by a Sister: Back in 1985, the French DGSE (their version of our CIA) sank the Greenpeace flagship the Rainbow Warrior in the port of Auckland before it could sail out to protest/harass an upcoming French nuclear bomb test. Limpet mines set by the French agents blew holes in the ship while it was docked, killing one man. The Sororitas, with her Fleur-de-Lis iconography, represents the French.

The reason the planet was deleted by GW was because of an Allan Dean Foster novel called Sentenced To Prism about a planet called Prism that bore a striking resemblance to the planet the Rainbow Warriors came from. ADF was going to sue GW if it wasnt changed. SO GW made a lot of deletions of the planet.

I like to think that the lore of Rouge Trader is the lore one random Rouge Trader knows, which is a lot but as a rouge trader, not exactly accurate or consistent. A lot of it is hearsay from a guy who mostly explores the outer rim of the galaxy and has a few stories passed down by his lineage. And then it was turned into a game book lol.

Glad to see my boys getting some love. Some extra lore from an old 6th ed. codex. The Rainbow Warriors served in the "Blood Star campaign" where they lost their chapter master. 2 other chapters where present. Relictors and Fire lords, and also suffered great losses against chaos daemons. I play them with pride when I do play space marines :)

"x" in Aztec-related languages (esp. Nahuatl) is pronounced like a "sh" -- so "Mexico" is named for the "Mexica" (Meh-SHEE-kuh) people.

It makes me wonder if the artists has ever seen any gun, with a lower receiver. It honestly breaks all the immersion… ::EDIT:: Wait!?!? "Axariacemanahuac" is not hard to pronounce, it's just a long word. Just cut it in two or three separate words and suddenly it is super easy "Rural" or "sixth" are actual hard-to-pronounce words. And if "hard to pronounce" was supposed to mean "hard to figure out", just remember you have no problem seeing the word "neighbour" and going "naber" lol (Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh, I'm just a bit tired of english speakers going "hahaha so weird" as soon as something doesnt look english, while the rest of the world struggles constantly with the fact that your language is litterally one of the worst ever in terms of spelling-to-sound inconsistency) I do love your work tho!

The virgin raven guard North american indigenous representation or implied crimson fist latin representation vs the gigachad rainbow warriors fan works. Wish we had more asian influences that got send ups like this that weren't mongols (though im really happy for the mongols, atillans is dope and white scars are dope, stay winning genghis chads). Like, I get the Mantis Warriors are japanese samurai, but they got no style, no grace. No feather plumage. Its drip or drown and brother, the fan RW's are aquatic.

This is interesting stuff. The idea of a space marine being seen as a lost spirit or something, I wonder if that plays on the Aztec tradition of human sacrifice. Like the people being taken as potential space marines being sacrifices made by the community to pay for the ongoing protection of the chapter or something. But I don't know anything about either the chapter or Aztec culture, so maybe I'm just pulling it out of my butt.
