This is great! I had no idea FCP was doing this. Right now, I'm swapping an S60R engine and an M56 into an 850 Turbo sedan, so this is a lot of fun to watch.
@Jaeintebitter4 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah! I'm really looking forward to this series. I love how the old btcc 850 sounds with its screaming NA engine. I once owned a black 1997, 850R Estate (without sunroof). Which unfortunately someone stole and crashed. Now I'm really inspired to buy an 850 again and build something similar to you guys.

Your videos in general are fantastic. To keep bolts organized I've done the ziploc bag thing when heads or the block has to go to the machine shop, but generally I put the bolt back in whatever hole it came out of

Thanks B Gee, putting things back where they came out is also a great way to stay organized!

Awesome build!🤩 my “first” car was a Volvo 855 t5r sadly they are not worth so much in Sweden and it needed allot of work so I sold it but I recommend individual throttle bodies on the 850. It will sound awesome:) and pack allot of power to! Keep up the good work guys

I've got an 07 S80 V8 and also a 10 V70 R-Design. Do you think the V8 engine and subframe would be a straightforward swap into the V70? Would be a killer combination.

I'm sorry but my experience tells me that you are going to have problems with coilpacks and missfire if you dont use oem spark plugs. I know it sounds silly but here in sweden we use oem spark plugs up to 700 hp in the white block as we call it. When a customer came in to the volvo dealership i worked on with a missfire we allways tried a plugchange first and it fixed the problem 99% of the time. Often it was bosch, ngk, mahri and all the big brands sparkplugs but it doesn't matter.
@astroboyracer2474 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct. Fun fact - those BERU spark plugs are the exact same as Genuine Volvo, in fact, BERU supplies the spark plugs to Volvo ;)
@ZedrateEX4 жыл бұрын
Also are you converting the 850 to run coil on plug
@yilmaztosun48583 жыл бұрын
U forgot the more important camshaft seals! Everyone forgets them witch causes unnecessary extra costs later on.
@fcpeuro3 жыл бұрын
You are correct, cam seals are very important and should not be overlooked! Thankfully, the cylinder head on this engine was compltetly rebuilt and those had been done and showed no sign of leaking.

Should’ve just ditched the dual stage intake manifold. Unless it’s going to be driven on the street often, it’s going to be pointless on the track since it’ll be WOT most of the time
@fcpeuro3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right. Watch the rest of the season and you'll find out we do end up ditching it 😉. Our dyno video compares the dual-stage manifold to the standard manifold. It was more of an experiment than anything since we had the manifold. ITBs are in the future though!
