Well I'll tell you 2 bucks, before the draft I hadn't watched the NBA since the Bird, McHale, Parrish, Ainge, Johnson days. I never even heard of the Grizzlies. Memphis has an NBA team? Huh. Waddayaknowbouddat. But now, I'm a Grizzlies fan. You don't expect him to be in the All Star game? If you listen to yourselves at the end of that interview you'll see why I DO expect him to be there. He'll help put the Grizzlies in a much bigger spotlight and he'll deliver. I mean, look at the youtube vids after the draft. They're all about Edey. He won't do for the NBA what Clark has done for the WNBA but he's going to put a spotlight on Memphis. Memphis? Oh yeah, that's the Presley/Edey town. He's not going to be a flop in the NBA. He'll help the Grizzlies, Memphis, and really, the NBA as a whole. You guys should be throwing parties, not straining to find good points. Elvis's motto was "takin' care of business." And that's Zach Edey. Perfect place for the guy.

Welcome to the fam! Edey’s style is old school and will help us in the half court. We have struggled on that end and he will feast on the smaller centers! The more I watch him, the more I’m all in! Thanks for the comment and Go Grizz!

Edey dropped 37pts and 11rebs on Clingan in the National Championship game. He's supposedly slower than Clingan yet somehow bested him in EVERY drill at the combine... speed, agility, shooting. He's a much better athlete than so called experts think. He gets up and down the floor very quickly for his size. He can get a bucket whenever he wants. Edey and Morant are going to destroy people in the pick and roll. He draws a ton of fouls, makes free throws and is a rebounding machine. I have no idea where you're getting that Clingan is a better passer. As for injuries, he's far more durable than Clingan. He missed what... 1 game in 4 years? That was due to illness, not injury. There's nothing that Clingan does better than Edey. Edey couldn't be super aggressive going after blocks until later in the game because Purdue couldn't afford for him to get fouls. Did you not see how quickly he moved step for step with Knecht down the lane to block him in the last minute of the Elite 8 game? I also have no idea where the narrative is that he can't finish pick and rolls. You can watch highlights of any game. You also said, he'd be cooked by Lively. He DESTROYED Lively and Filipowski when Purdue played Duke. You guys will soon be fans of Zach Edey and realize how wrong you were to not be. You also said he can't stretch the floor which also isn't true. He can shoot! Edey made 14 of 25 3pt shots in the drill at the combine. Just because Purdue didn't ask him to shoot, doesn't mean he can't shoot. You guys are going to have to eat a LOT of crow very shortly. I will say that it seems like as you all talked through this, towards the end of the video... you're understanding a lot more of the positives. He's not going to have to play 32 minutes a game or 40 minutes like in the tournament. He's not going to have to be conservative or worry about fouls. He can be a lot more aggressive defensively now. He's going to be awesome!

Agreed! The more tape I have watched on Edey, the more I like it and have talked myself in to him. Plus he is one of us now so I’m all in. The offense won’t have to flow through him like at Purdue and he will be a match up nightmare for Lively. Like Kleiman said, people will have to scheme for Edey specifically and he will beat up smaller centers. Our starting center has only averaged 25 minutes per game over the last 4 years. If he can give us 20-25 minutes and be a 15 point - 10 rebound guy, then we have found the starting center for multiple championship teams! Thanks for the listen!

@@RustyWhitten Thanks for the reply. I was commenting as I was watching the video. It did seem like the more you guys talked through different on court scenarios, combine numbers, etc. that you were coming around towards the end. I'm a Purdue grad and probably saw 98% of Edey's games. This pick will go down in history as one of the best draft steals ever. He's only played basketball for 7 years. His improvement year on year is amazing. He's a tireless worker so people are vastly under estimating his upside. By the way, the Grizzlies just gained hundreds of thousands of new fans overnight. Purdue has a strong culture and family atmosphere. We love and support our players and coaches wherever they go. Go Grizzlies!!

@@RustyWhitten Thanks Rusty! My name is Alonzo. I see Edey just opted out of playing for Canada in the Olympics to play for the Grizzlies in Summer League. That should be your first indication that this guy is about handling his business. I look forward to checking out more of your content throughout the summer and upcoming season!
