Life gets busy… fast. Have you ever found yourself with so many browser tabs open you can’t see the titles anymore? Or felt anxious about your jammed schedule for tomorrow because you have no time to focus on what matters? That was a freeze frame capture of me every day for the past few years. So, based on positive psychology research, I developed a simple little system for myself called “Two Minute Mornings” to start my day off right.

Less of a rule, more of a ritual. I write (digitally) a single daily thought per day, enhanced with some simple automation. I record these in a Google sheet. At the end of each week, I give three thoughts a single star. After each month, I upgrade three of those stars to a double star. At the end of the year, I have a really careful think about dishing out three triple star ratings from all the two stars from the year. The magic (for me) comes from a simple automation which sends me a telegram message every morning, containing a random thought of each rating (including a non-star thought). The idea being, the thoughts I hold dearest are shared with me most frequently. I also use telegram to record my thoughts, for a super frictionless input. Even if I don't read the message first thing in the morning, it offers a welcome moment of reflection at some point in the day when I do read it. It has become a really simple and rewarding habit, which I've actually kept up to! I'm currently on my 756th consecutive thought 😊

Love this practice. Thanks for sharing it. I write daily in my journal and complete my journal with 3 things I am grateful for. I will add now the specific of the things I am grateful for. What to focus on, and what I am letting go off. Recently I've been sending a video to one of my friends with what I let go off and the possibility I create for the day. It's all in the practice.

I'm learning to journal with a coach nudging me to turn it into a habit. I've been remarkably resistant to journalling for a long time, though my GP and counsellor both recommended it. Now I'm finally taking action and doing it. I'm not sure I'm totally getting the benefits of it yet, but I'll keep trying. :)

I got journals for each of us for Christmas!! Hubby, my three sons (sound familiar) and me. I copied your "Two Minute Morings, Why It Works" list and glued it into each cover. My hope is that we begin this practice...together...this Christmas and come back at Christmas 2020 to talk about it. And of course, receive our new journals for the next year. Thank you for this!! Simple, to the point, and research-backed. Well done!

Thank you for the reminder ;) Lately I have been starting my day worried about how little sleep I am getting and spending way to many minutes on that...will write that one down in my 2 minute morning journal.
