I'm from North America and only got Benny Hill and Monty Python growing up in the 70s. However, more recently in my life, I discovered the Brits' panel shows and got hooked. It was Rob Brydon that turned me on to the Two Ronnies and everything went from there. I haven't returned back to American comedy TV since.

I was a bookseller for 20 years and the reverse of this is how people would ask us for books. "Do you have that book that was on that table, 6 months ago? About this big (holds up hands) and had a green cover." I used to joke that, for April Fools, we should arrange the books and put up signs that said, "That Book by That Author on Oprah" and "That Book by That Actor on That TV Show," and "The Book My Grandson Likes, You Know, The One That All The Kids Read." And have a display of books with a sign showing two hands indicating a size and have them all with the same color cover. That was still better than the people who mixed up titles of more than one book and then claim they gave you the correct title when you show them they two or more book s that they combined into one, because they are never wrong and you weren't listening, even though you repeated the title back to them, and proceeded to indicate the two books you did have that matched half, each, of the title the customer gave, then showed them when they kept insisting that what you were saying was incorrect. The wounds are still fresh.

The books are only meant for decorative purposes, though. They aren't meant to actually be read. This is a library, where the books are meant to be read, so finding the one you want should be easy, not hard.
@not_a_frog2 жыл бұрын
Never heard of that, but to be fair they're not doing that in public libraries and that would be fine at home if you had a decent memory and weren't dealing with a huge quantity of books. The whole issue arises in a public library setting where the organization style needs to make sense to people who've never been there before. That said, organizing books by color, while admittedly silly, is no more cringe or less functional than those decorative gold leaf books with unprinted pages that were absolutely in existence well before this sketch was ever written.

I'm glad this video was in the 3 minute video section of KZbin, otherwise I would never have been able to find it. I was, at the time, looking for an exactly 3 minute video. And this fit the bill precisely. Also it was in the 4 inches wide and 2 inches tall subsection, just perfect for my phone screen. I'm glad I watched it again today, because I'm thinking of looking for a phone with a different size screen and I wouldn't have been able to watch it anymore. Also I'm more into 3 minute and 17 second videos these days, and so I am not watching these exactly 3 minute videos so much anymore. I found there were too many of the 3 minute kind, subsection 4 inches wide and 2 inches tall, and I was having trouble watching them all. But there are fewer 3 minute videos with the odd 17 seconds tacked on. So I think I can possibly keep up with them.
