Clearly Ghandi looked at everything through the lens of how he grew up, and as an Indian. Not as someone who understands other cultures. Because he grew up in eastern culture, where pacifism is normalized, he thought that everyone would be on board with it. In reality, the real world doesn't work like that. Terrorists are still bad people, and will do bad things. Dictators are still bad guys and will commit horrible atrocities, no matter how much you bend the knee. This is not seen as resistance, but weakness. There is a time and place for Ghandi's theory of non-aggressive resistance. During a time of war, is not one of them. And no, killing 5 million or 6 million Jews is the biggest crime of the century. Mao Zedong killed 60 MILLION of his own people, and no one in the West talks about it.

I am in my 80th year of life and I agree with you, Mr. Boyd. I’m not only Gandhi but mother Theresa they are as equally reprehensible and in any sane place or time should have been rebuked for who and what they openly were. Living 80 years with my eyes wide open Has been very difficult but also very freeing. There are others in history that have been canonized as almost or in mother Theresa‘s case was made a saint yet I don’t understand how she could’ve been a saint if she performed no miracles. Which I believe in the Catholic religion is one of the dictates. What she did with children was beyond despicable. I’ll leave it at that. And if anyone wants to come at me for that, go for it because you don’t matter and your opinion, doesn’t change my 80 years of, understanding that when you walk like a duck you like a duck, you act like a duck you look like a duck you’re a duck.

You can put Nelson Mandela on the top of a list of bad people who did a few good things. The man put tires on peoples necks put them to the flame. Hundreds of people lost their life before Mandela was arrested and put in prison. And these were not the Afrakaans they were his own people he was "fighting" for.

Fuck no, American presidents, Ghandi, Hitler, Epstein, shoot even Diddy, R Kelly, or Bill Cosby would be up waaaaaaaaassy before Mandela tf. Idk that comment gives that you don’t understand oppression & what people had to do to get the liberties and freedoms we have now. After I heard about this a couple of years ago, I could no longer look at him as a hero of the people. The caste system helped shape his racist and classist beliefs, but he saw his own Brahmin caste as equal to the white British colonists. His exploitation of his niece and other young women, and cold, harsh treatment of his wife make him not worthy of MY respect.
@lawlietriver8869Ай бұрын
Here is the thing, a person can be evil yet be a net positive. It is not a pleasant thought, but it is a true thought. Ghandi is an example of that. I do believe the world is better for having him, but I would never want to hang with this man. To me, because I live in that better world, he is vile. EDIT: The better that makes me think of him as vile is not precisely based on his works. It is more so that other imperfect and sometimes evil people made it happen. Better is better, and that is objective fact. I can appreciate and condemn at the same time.

The video obviously wanted to change the mind of those who idolized him after cursory knowledge.Don't be obtuse it makes you seem unintelligent.
@ettchaАй бұрын
Terrible stuff. What I know of him comes from memes from some game and the image of Ben Kingsley playing him. That said, I think dismissing the 'product of his time' thing is disingenuous, no matter how much people think his intelligence should have precluded him from such beliefs. Part of the caste system is deeply rooted in colourism. Being darker is still often associated with being lower caste. A person raised in that would more likely take a dim view of black Africans. Acknowledging that doesn't absolve or excuse him, but it does help us see how a person can come to that way of thinking. Him only changing his view a few years before his death is actually quite a rare thing. To this day with all the 'enlightenment' we have in spades, we still have people going to their graves with a death grip on their racist beliefs.
