The Royal Navy is spending 31 billion pounds on four Dreadnoughts (each weighing 19,000 tons and capable of carrying up to 12 Trident ballistic missiles).
The Dreadnought-class enters service in the early 2030s, ensuring that Britain's nuclear deterrent is credible and effective for the foreseeable future.
Thanks for watching

Its not the number of ships that decides a top navy. Its the quality of the ship and its crew. Both are top notch in the UK.

@@dirkscott5410 Every ship has its teething troubles. In terms of mileage and service life the Queen Elizabeth class are still brand new and will eventually be more reliable. I still think it was a mistake for them to not use nuclear power. If the oil tanker gets hit and they are low on fuel in the middle of the ocean they are in big trouble. I also think it was a mistake not to use the new magnetic catobar system.

Im sure its cool to have submarines of this calibre, but reality is you need to be seen present to make people behave, a submarine does not have the same threat as a destroyer or carrier. Even though its payload is much more lethal.

@mac2626
@mac2626 Ай бұрын
Not carrying less as the Vanguard Class SSBN were only filling 8 of its 16 missile compartments, and the Dreadnought Class will operate with all 12 missile compartments full as Britain now has 280 ballistic missiles. That’s 60 more than in recent decades, and they can carry 8 to 12 475 kt nuclear warheads.

As for the purchase of new navy kit … may I ask why they bought not one but TWO aircraft carriers without aeroplanes … and now they want a new sub to play with ??? 😂😂😂😂😂

Yhe dreadnoughts are already short listed to become obsolete with Britian getting a new , larger sub soon, along with both the USA and Australia, the AUKUS class, which will be the most advanced most tonnage of any sub ever built, the thing is this is NOT and is taking place NOW with the infrasturcture being built to fo this in the UK, the US and Australia, Austrailia is also giving billions to both the UK and the US to assist with their infrastructure build, weird huh, bout the first time in history some one aided the US to do something.

This is another false narrative. Why a new "super-duper" submarine benefit Great Britian...of course it will add the Royal Navy's capabilities, but unless the UK builds a significant fleet of them it won't matter a twit. To be effective, a navy needs a fleet of submarines that allows for a substantial number to be on station and allow for a similar number in port for crew rests and refit...and allowing for approximately 25% to be in dry dock for repairs. The UK would need four boats on patrol, four boats in rest and refit and allow for two to be in dry dock for repairs and upgrades. So, at a minimum the UK would need ten boats in a class...and that ain't happening.

1 sub is enough to turn every city of significance to ash, why would we need more? Yes I'm aware the UK has decided it will only allow 1-3 warheads per missile in line with the proliferation treaty but the comment still stands. You are correct - 1 at sea - 1 in port for r+r - 2 being fixed by the contractor because the kettle doesn't work. Why more, we're not the USA declaring war on every poor muppet and his goat?

omg next you'll be telling us we import dodgy titanium from China, and the seat covers are from India! Not everyone understands the difference between 'built' and 'assembled', the missile compartment coming from the US is very interesting, disappointing but not surprising since the low magnetic steel is imported in advance from France since Port Talbot is likely to close and we'd hate to give "ze anglais" decent paid jobs lol.
