I love this new cannon but it's the vibration stories I don't like..as long as the troops who use it are happy then it will be worth it..they must be honest and transparent to get us a good vehicle for the future..

Re T31, as the original May 2023 announcement was phrased, it seemed to indicate the Strike length Mk 41 VLS fit would be installed by the start of the ships service lives. The phrase "will be back-fit" used anent the ships currently already building is thus rather suspicious. Of the five ships ordered, by the date this vid was released the first two were already under construction. Will Mk41 still be installed before they enter service or is "will be back fit" really just a quiet euphemism for our establishment vermin's still favourite cheese-paring lie anent all new RN vessels, ie; "FFBNW"?

It seems the RN has an obsession with cutting crew numbers (and therefor costs) to the bone, and in this case into the bone! it's insane to ditch the CIWS! I'm willing to bet that in the case of hostilities they will very rapidly start mounting a whole array of extra weaponry. It looks like they got caught out for not doing their homework properly!

We saw how important NGFS was during the Falklands but since Labour have just scrapped the last two assault ships the RN had I presume the only thing they have left is a large supply of white flags!

Regardless of what kind of cannon r being used the bottom line is the Royal Navy should start building more naval ships to counter china or russia n regain their status as a dominant naval fleet in partnership with the US Navy n other allies for World peace.

The simple truth is that Phalanx isn't effective against high speed missiles. 40 mm air burst ammunition is a better bet. It's disappointing that the RN has stuck with Phalanx & DS30 for the Type 26, but this probably reflects its earlier order date.

Just like the UK Destroyers went from 14 ships to 6. Now the mining vessels will go from 11 to 5, it doesn't matter how more advanced it is when only 5 ships can be in 5 places at once, not including upgrades, repairs, training etc.

It's the recent OZ weapons orders that can deter China in the Indian/Southern South China Sea, what's been ordered are 200 x Tomahawk block V 1000 mile ranged cruise missiles with anti ship capability for Virginia nukes subs and Hunters destroyers etc. 200 x LRASM stealth anti ship/attack missiles for the super hornets, Growlers and P-8. PRiSM Cap 2 1000km anti ship/surface hypersonic missiles for the Army stand off anti ship/attack capability. The recent deal as the world's' only 2nd factory to manufacture the NSM II and JSM anti ship/attack missiles for our 70 odd stealth F-35A multirole 5th gen fighters and are currently being upgraded to TR3/Block4 and NSM II fitted RAN frigates with Tomahawks. Thus hundred of swarms of intelligent, AI, stealth, EO long range anti ship missiles. OZ does have an advantage it that it has an air, sea gap for the enemy to cross and with the E-7 AWACs and JORN over the horizon radar that can on a good day peer deep into China and the south China Sea the Australian armed force are one of the most modern up to date highly trained networked centric forces on the planet. We should see them coming. It also helps having alliances with some of the most democratic and powerful countries in the world. We have a history of NOT sitting on the fence but getting involved and helping our allies. The Army might be small but the Air force /Navy will have the modern equipment and 1000s of some of the best anti ship anti aircraft weapons systems to bring down on the enemy. The enemy have to negate (the air sea gap) far from their sphere of influence just to get near here, and the plan is.... get them on the sea or in the air well before they can land and far from the potensial enemy's infrastructure and support.

Reload time for Phalanx and the cumbersome process is the issue in swarm warfare bbrrrrrrttttt goes through a lot of ammo fast but the drum isn't all that big The RN (and the Belgian Navy on their minesweepers) hope that the 3P ammo will compensate for lower rate of fire

The Aussie multiband L band anti stealth with, S band and X band six sided AESA CEA FAR 2 radar suite with AEGIS with its six sided panel CEAMOUNT fire control radars with each panels capable of locking on up to 10 individual targets, (10 x 6 =60) that's 60 locked on targets at once (that's not tracking thats lock on capability!) is superior to the SPY-6 and is a generation ahead is being seriously considered. The Australian Type 26 Hunter class version will be fitted with this radar suite and the US AEGIS combat system.
