A few things you missed: 1. The sheik chain can be used after any grounded move if you hold A. This might cover your opponent's whiff punish attempt after an F tilt, F smash, etc. 2. Dash attack also works as an anti air and it's hard to parry because it's multi hit. 3. Dtilt2 can be used to edge hog quickly and d tilt1 2 frames with ease. 4. His roll cancel grab is faster and has more range than dash grab. 5. His waveland is viable but his rolls are better than his wavedash if they're fresh. 6. The chain has a tipper and the up smash can hit the top plat of bf, YS, and DL. 7. The beggining of his dive kick spikes. 8. Crawl is good for micro spacing to ledge trap more effectively. 9. Cross gives you a slight air momentum. If you jump dair after being hit vertically you will float which could be used to mixup your landing. And axe can be wave bounced. 10. If you tether and wait for the game to automatically pull you up you will have more invincibility frames after 100%. 11. Up B can be angled, has a vacuum effect and can be buffered out of shield stun. 12. Holy water from a plat will travel diagonally through most of the stage. 13. Simon's down b can detonate link's bombs and snake's grenades. Richter's can kill blue pikmin. 14. If you buffer short hop fair/bair/Up air you can air dodge before landing so its harder to punish it. 15. Don't up air tether if your opponent is right on top of you because it will hit them instead of tethering to the edge. 16. Axe > tipper F smash breaks shields. To kill a shield broken opponent, reverse cross by the edge then jump slightly off stage and dair spike right after the cross hit them towards you. Best guide I've seen from the belmonts thank you! I feel like people are really sleeping on the Belmonts, they're at a weird point in the meta where they're absolute noob crushers like King K Rool, but almost entirely ignored by the competitive community. I think people are too quick to write their gameplay off as spammy and linear, when they have such a wealth of mixups and gameplans that I honestly think they have the ability to be high tier if they're developed enough. Guides like this give me hope for the future of these characters. Also Chad Simon > Virgin Richter

More information on the combos: I understand that it was done on a large heavy character, but nearly all these combos work on the whole cast, expect the percents at which they work vary. Falling up air combos may not work/be more difficult for shorter characters.

Great video! I'd like to add a couple of my stray observations as well (Simon main) Getting good at reverse Up-B out of shield is a great punish for people that apply pressure with aerials and land behind your shield. Buffering it as soon as the opponent hits your shield is a great way to get an overly aggressive opponent off you. If you get hit high enough, using Holy Water to stall recovery has saved me so many times. Like anything else, using it sparingly and with other mixups will make it most effective. I use Holy Water intentionally off stage sometimes to force people to jump. Since cross does not bounce off shields when returning (It just passes through), I'll try to incorporate that into my play when I find that people are shielding cross a lot. It's good to use when opponents have just lost a stock, so that cross will be returning across the stage when their invincibility wears off. Here is a shameless plug of my combo video I made, because we all need more Belmont content! kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4bYlnRsqsqAsNU

Also wanted to ask a few questions. What's the most optimal shield break punish? 0%? 30%? 50%? How did you get good at consistently angling your aerials? I find that one of the most difficult things to do. Do you use the A-button or C-stick? One small thing I like to do is an early holy water at the ledge then letting them neutral get up, but pressuring with an f-tilt after. They get away safely, but it conditions them to neutral get up shield after the holy water runs out. Then at later percents, I early holy water -> they wait for it to run out -> they neutral get up -> they shield (waiting for a f-tilt) -> I run and grab them for a forward throw kill. I like doing this since I find getting kills as Richter can be difficult sometimes. Just a thing I wanted to share.
@t3dom677
@t3dom677 5 жыл бұрын
The 0% punish depends on whether there are platforms around. If so, you want to get cross into holy water on a platform as I mentioned early. If not, try to get a 50-60% holy water combo. Anything over 35% on medium weight, you can just push them to the ledge and kill with tipper fsmash. I typically do a mixture of both, but I mostly use the A-button for aerials and C-stick for f-tilt.

Unfortunately, double jump is a fixed distance, unless you just start the second down air early. That's why you have to aim for the closer side of the enemy. I've learned a significant amount since this video, including the fact that if the opponent DI's down and away, the zero to death no longer works

Hey would you say it’s really worth learning all those flashy cross combos off a raw holy water confirm? I find it rare that I even land a raw hw in neutral and then by the time I think of my combo its too late haha. What is just a basic bnb for good damage when landing holy water? (At low-mid percent not f smash kill percent) falling nair into grab? Or usually I do dash attack
@t3dom677
@t3dom677 4 жыл бұрын
Though it's flashy, it's what's optimal. At low to mid percent falling nair stuff and dash attack are fine. When it comes to the axe or up b kill setups those are really important considering how difficult it can be to kill with the character. Any combo that involves throwing cross after hitting holy water, you most likely wont have enough time for those, so I'd only go for those if you get a shield break or read.
