I loved A Novel Love Story BUT i totally see why people don’t like it. I didn’t care for the romance, i thought it was weak, way too fast, and the 3rd act breakup and resolution was dumb. I loved the concept of her going to that town and meeting all her favorite characters from her favorite book series. It reminded me SO much of stardew valley (favorite video game) and if I ended up in the world of Pelican Town and met all my favorite characters. It felt like a love story to people who fall in love with a fictional town and characters. The way she knew the shop hours and the characters backstories made me so happy cuz that’s how i am with the town and characters of my favorite video game. I wish she left out the romance aspect completely.

I'm definitely in the minority in that I actually enjoyed A Novel Love Story, but I totally get why so many people don't like it. I do highly recommend you read Poston's debut, "The Dead Romantics," if you haven't yet. It's my favorite of her three books, and may give you some more faith back. I'm definitely going to read ANLS again in spring, though, to re-check my thoughts on it.

Loved this video! Your comment about lit fic and the new year makes complete sense to me-I feel like that can be such a quiet and reflective time of the year, which is often reflected in the tone of those kind of books. I really enjoyed hyunam-dong bookshop!

Welcome to the Hyunam Dong Bookshop is such a healing but casual read!! It's actually a translated Korean literary fiction, but it incorporates these though provoking ideas while following the workers and regular customers of the bookshop. It was my favorite read of the year so far!💕 I plan to go through and annotate it for the new year because even the translation was beautifully written without being unnecessarily wordy.

I had a whole Lucy Score era back in 2017-2018ish. My absolute fave by her is The Worst Best Man. There’s tons of KU books out now with this title, but they all came after this one - it was the original. I remember laughing to the point of tears reading this book, so I highly recommend it if you ever feel like giving the romcom a shot. It didn’t used to be on KU, but it is now 🥰

I've been thinking of having an at-home library either at my parents house or when I get my own house (or if I rent a house or apartment) with my own book shelves even if they shelves themselves are from floor to ceiling (with about a foot or so short of the ceiling).

I've attempted to read Just For the Summer after finishing Pen Pal and decided that I just could not be bothered for that type of story so I DNF'd it with plans to eventually come back to it. I've now finished 2 of the Broken Bonds books, and I think Im about to download the third. Hopefully I'll be able get through Once Youre Mine and My Little Stranger towards the end of the month.

What reading journal do you have? If your really unsure about a book you could try the kindle sample. I dont use them kften cos i have no shelf controk but theybare super handy when you want to see if a booos your jam

I finished A Novel Love Story, but it was not my favorite for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. I wanted out of the MC's head and wanted to follow the book characters instead.

🏕️🚙 I've read all of India Holton's books and ornithologists field guide to love is her best one so far. 5⭐ for me. I kept imagining every character as a bird 😂 which heads up there's a lot of bird talk. It's also bk1 in a new series, each novel is a standalone and I'm soo ready for bk2 coming out next year. I read novel love story when my brain didn't wanna brain 😂 I think that's the only reason I made it through.
