if there is limb penetration, how come slugs dont always one hit from straight ahead? ive checked my footage frame for frame, all seem to be upper torso, yet no kill. is perhaps the netcode weird such that it registers it as arm hits because of delay? i know a lot of people are complaining about this kind of delay (see, shotgun trading), so maybe thats it?
@Cornf Жыл бұрын
@@theuselessteammate2097 I would imagine you're either slightly outside of the one shot kill range, hit the lower torso, or you barely missed the torso. I've done a video on slugs that shows the ranges a bit more and proves that limb penetration exists if you'd like to watch that one as well. As for netcode, I don't often see shots that I feel should've hit that don't hit, and I think that comes down to hunt resolving all gunfights clientside first. This is the reason that you don't see no-reg shots too often, but also the reason you'll get killed by someone with 300 ping half a second after you've killed them.
@dhufishhunter6455 Жыл бұрын
I got a collateral double kill with a freshly revived hunter running behind the player rezzing on the weekend using a shotbolt. Fairly sure the revived hunter didn't have resilience so it was probably a low damage number kill but I was pretty happy anyway.

An interesting addition to this video would be a discussion about shotbolt for the crossbow. Shotbolt is one of the most intriguing ammo types in the game. It is essentially a teleporting shotgun that has infinite kill range as long as it lands on the chest or head, and it can pen wood, including trees (but not metal). You just have to learn the drop.
@clownworld4655 Жыл бұрын
It’s surprising how many people don’t know that shot bolt is the only ammo in the game with infinite one shot kill range. I’ve gotten a couple very long kill shots with it
@osterhai10 ай бұрын
The shotbolt is more or less a nitro with bullet drop and cant shoot through bricks and trees but it can oneshot at any range (well the round drops to the ground at around 150m at a 45° angle making the maximum range limited)
@takubear88 Жыл бұрын
The way they explained it is that each layer of object basically just applies a negative mod to your weapon range, so weapons no longer dealing damage through walls is directly related to how much effective range is lost. FMJ lowers the effect these objects have. As for Shredder, its almost doubled one shot range to the chest over the regular Nitro, probably means that the one metal sheet "lowered the range", but it essentially still is within the 76m one tap range, whereas regular Nitro loses that potential around the 40m mark. I'm guessing metal subtracts roughly 30 meters from the range.
@Cornf Жыл бұрын
I theorized something similar to what you said. Shredder is supposed to just increase the one shot range, but they could've done that by increasing the base damage, which is why it one shots thru metal. The damage multiplier could be 25% thru metal but if it's doing 600 base damage it'll still one shot.

But boy did you prove me wrong! So interesting to see what penetration you have on what type of ammo. Now it makes sense why some of my shots didn't kill when they were already tagged and ran behind cover. Like I always thought that you deal the full dmg when penetrating smth until you just can't penetrate anymore. But no it has a dmg drop off. I also asked RachtaZ about the penetration with high velocity and he said that it has less penetration but you proved him wrong. Keep on with that good work dude. 10/10 video would recommend!

Your videos answer every single question I’ve ever had but been unable to answer about Hunt. You’re an absolute godsend I disagree with the sentiment that the New Army should only be used with FMJ. DumDum is almost never a bad choice, especially if you have a primary that is capable of wallbangs. Also tbh I feel bad for the folk 8:30 in. The way you tracked them without Darksight would have made me think you were sus, you’ve got some killer hearing
@funkkymonkey6924 Жыл бұрын
A big conceptual thing with FMJ and your choice of weapons; compact weapons suffer terribly from arm shots, usually turning 2 taps into 3 taps doing ~50 damage. This is compounded more during wall bangs and can frequently lead to 4 or 5 tapping someone. After exploring many of the options, medium will reliably 2 tap, as the arm shot penalty is much less. Another video idea would be a quick catalog of unpennable items. Log stacks, cargo boxes, lumber piles and stone fences have the weirdest penetration viability.

Ah, what a great video! It's great to have some desmistifcation of this subject! The only other thing I'd say is that I've penned the stairs in Nichols prison with normal long ammo before. The person dropped below the stairs and I shot straight through and killed them. It may have been a weird cause of shooting through the gaps between them, but I was almost perfectly straight down with my aim. I have a clip if you're interesting.

Alright, I have returned as promised. Found this informative and helpful. I also chortled your goofy bits later in the video. You might consider a followup video covering atypical penetration scenarios and materials. For example, how do things like windows, boxes, hay, and other objects affect penetration damage? Is glass considered thin wall? Does each side of the box count as a wall? What else is impenetrable? This info might be interesting to folks and warrant another video. Similarly, a video covering compounds with interesting penetration interactions. Thanks again for the great vid, best wishes!

You're brilliant, dude. BTW, I have 3500 hours and I didn't know that long ammo loses metal sheet penetration past 50m. Would explain why I didn't get long range kills at some metal-covered catwalks. Wow, this is great. Would you please do an analysis on the various dum-dum ammos? More particularly, I am interested in the time to kill with different combinations of limb hits. That would be useful to know in some situations, whether my opponent has only one second to fight back, or five, or some such, depending on the weapon used, and range etc. Of course an exhaustive spreadsheet of it would be too much to ask for, but I bet some useful things could be found.
@ColeBlueford Жыл бұрын
That would be a nice analysis video, I agree. My vote for best gun to use with dum-dum is the Springfield. You can take half a measure of dum-dum and half a measure of regular ammo in order to retain the ability to wallbang or shoot mobs with more easily restocked ammo if you need to, and it's the strongest gun which can use dum-dum (not counting Nitro w/ Shredders). Half a measure of regular ammo also doubles the available ammo stock for a Pax or Scottfield, and a Scottifield Spitfire is an excellent pistol overall and pairs nicely as a backup to a strong single shot weapon. They also just buffed the bleed medium ammo dum-dum causes, so it's more severe if they don't have Bloodless. _Technically_ the award for best gun to use dum-dums on *should* be the Drilling, but they were scared that it would be too good so it comes with a severe velocity penalty which deflates that a lot. Also, a Drilling is quite expensive, especially with custom ammo(s), while a Springfield is in the dirt cheap category of guns you can pay for with a single clue. That doesn't matter for some, but for others cheap is a factor, so just saying. About a tenth the price is a pretty big deal, no?

personally I like to play a little bit for fun silent Winfield fmj simply because it makes it so you can actually 2 tap at good range like 50 / 60 meters away anyway😉 this is another fantastic showcase why thanks to the new shooting range we are finally able to more easily experiment and test stats and statistics of weapons and their function in the game I for example find out even if I hit a the upper torso of a hunter at 150 meters with a Martin Henry it will still take 4 compact ammo hits to kill with for example a officer and you might ask "that is not that important?" but it is if you play officer high velocity and try to finish off someone and might ask why don't they die I hit them with long ammo I also tested how much damage decrease you do with certainly weapons on certain body parts for example the new hammar can kill with 1 hit if you hit the leg or arm with a heavy attack

Pro tip on the audio: For KZbin, ideally, you want your audio to be around -17 LUFS if you have a way to measure that in your video editing software. If you go beyond -14 then YT will begin to force the volume down, though it'll still be unpleasantly high. A good way to check if the levels are good on a video you've uploaded(or to check other people's videos for reference) is to right-click on the video and select 'Stats for nerds', then check the line where it says Volume / Normalized. 0dB is that absolute limit I mentioned(I know it's confusing, but 0dB on YT basically means the same as -14 LUFS), so you want to aim for about 3dB or so below that limit. In the case of this video, it reads that the audio is at -7.6dB. That's not bad, but it is a little quiet and I had to turn my own volume up while watching. So whatever levels you had for this one, I'd recommend increasing it by about 4dB in the future. If all this LUFS stuff is too complicated and you don't want to go down the rabbit hole of figuring out what the hell that shit means, I'd recommend that you aim to have your audio in a typical audio meter reaching about -6dB or so when you're talking, with no peaks beyond -2dB.

Last I personally checked (before this event), Silencers affected pen. Ex- Silent Sparks couldn't pen metal w/o fmj. Is this still true? Personally I was always bothered by the pen reduction. I also would argue fmj on the Martini isn't terrible- you have the ammo capacity to feel good running half reg/half fmj, and with it you can pen much easier in compounds and thru roofs.
