​​@@augustbradley I think all of these calendars will be pointless just if notion developers listen to us and add the daily view to the calendar view in notion. You have an audible voice inside Notion. Why don't you ask them to add this feature? It's not something that takes years to work on, and they won't have to make any changes to their future plans, or so I think 🤷

@@user-mp6fs7yn I'm not exactly sure what you're describing, but I do agree that I wish they would just do a Google Calendar sync integration first before going on to these fancy independent apps. However, these independent apps will take things much further than Google sync or an internal app integration ever can. For high-use functions like Calendar, I think an independent app is valuable because it creates a more polished, enjoyable, and effective interface - beyond what the Notion Lego blocks can do. So ideally, I think both are needed: better internal integration and independent interfaces. I think we're largely on the same page.

@@augustbradley I'm trying to say that if there was a daily calendar view in Nottion, you could apply time blocking to it, it would solve all the problems. You will be able to modify everything in the database with complete freedom and you will be able to take a quick look at what your day looks like Now all we have is a calendar with a monthly view

This is powerful! Thanks August for this breakdown. Notion Cal certainly has a lot of work to do, and quite frankly should have thought of these integrations. Hopefully they will take note and roll out some improvements in the coming months, but I'm going to give Morgen a shot 👍🏾

I am using this and loving it. Thanks so much for sharing. However, I cant seem to figure out how to create a recurring task which would be easier than copying/pasting. Suggestions?

That's awesome to hear, Matthew. I'm really glad it was helpful. I agree. I'm loving it too. You can do recurring tasks or recurring events. Just right under the date scheduler is the repeating setting. Here's a screenshot: cln.sh/tfXw7PJC

Interesting to hear your thoughts on the due date feature. I find it extreamly useful to see the deadline and compare that with my planned schedule time. The update prompt is also helpful to push the deadline, or tell me I need to reconsider my schedule.

@@JosefKarthauser Yes, I've spoken to them and they have confirmed they're working on addressing this fairly quickly. So it sounds like they're on it! I've mentioned similar things in the past and they've fixed them with surprising quickness. So I am confident this will be a good feature soon.

@@augustbradleythe more I learn of it, the more I think “this is what Notion Calendar should be”. Also, Morgen has an iPad-app, while you can’t use Notion Calendar on iPad at all. There’s no app, and you can’t use the web calendar either. I don’t understand how unaffiliated third party can create a better Notion Calendar than what Notion can.

@@Zereniti77 Yes, agreed, it is surprising. But number one, it's great that we have Morgen to fill the gap. And number two, I suspect Notion will be working hard on this - as will Morgen. So... We have the tools we need, and they'll keep getting better!

I'm surprised Notion Calendar does not have more extensive integration with Notion, though I'm sure it's coming. It's just a question of how long it will take - at this point, it's been two years since the acquisition of the Cron calendar app. It is great that other calendar apps such as Morgen are investing in great Notion integrations at the same time. It's good for the market and for us users to have choices. Morgen is doing a great job at innovating use cases.

Have you submitted a bug/feature report to Morgan yet about the time issue? (If not, I’ll submit one). I’m going to add a feature request for handling allowing a ‘due date’ vs ‘do date’ regarding the “milestone” functionality they added.

@@augustbradleyalso, it doesn’t look like you can filter tasks coming into Morgen. I’m seeing all my future tasks. Have you found a way to import just the Active ones? They are importing all tasks, even those without a Do date on them)

@@JosefKarthauser Future tasks - as in, tasks that are part of a project and scheduled for future dates - shouldn't have a due date. They shouldn't appear in your Today or Tomorrow list. But future active tasks beyond tomorrow will certainly appear in the toggle for upcoming tasks in Morgen, which is what you want. In the setup process where you connect the database, it asks you what to use for the date property, and then it will only bring in those listed for that date property. In the case of PPV, you would use the Do Date property.

I tried Morgen the other day and I have to admit I wasn’t that impressed. Notion Calendar - whilst not perfect by any means - is (in my opinion) way better than Morgen. One thing I love about Notion calendar is that you can have multiple databases assigned to the calendar. So I have my tasks, but I also have my Notion notes and goals and milestones too. I think Notion knows what they’re doing and will likely end up making their calendar more functional than morgen, and it’ll be free!

Yes, certainly there will be people who prefer one and other people who prefer the other. Both are excellent and both have opportunities to improve in different ways. My previous video covered Notion calendar in more depth and definitely highlighted some of these unique strengths that Notion calendar has. There's no one single right answer. Both are good and both are for sure - as you pointed out - going to get better and better. So, good times ahead!
