I've always thought the ceramic bezel was too sporty looking on the Daytona. It goes much better with the more aggressive angular case of the Zenith. So I feel Zenith kind of trolled them once more by saying "oh let us show you how to do that right". Kind of reminds me of the scene in Men in Black when Will Smith gets his issued black suit, and say "the difference between you and me, is I make this look good". The Zenith quite literally out Daytonas the Daytona, and that's before you even get the the brilliance of the movement.

I do prefer the look of the older Daytonas with the steel bezel over the newer ones, but the 2nd hand values of those are nuts. New or 2nd hand Zenith are kicking out some excellent chronographs & the el primero movements with exhibition window are the icing on the cake.

@@TheRausing1 You must not be very educated about watches, but very opinionated none the less. The Zenith El Primero pre-dates the Daytona by decades. The case, dial, and overall design is virtually identical to the old 60s models. The only thing in common with the Daytona is the use of ceramic in the bezel. On top of that, the Daytona actually used the Zenith El Primero movement up until the 2000s. So if anyone in this circle of design is "ripping off" anyone, Rolex is much more guilty of trading on Zenith's IP than the other way around.

@@tomw485 there's a reason "ripping off" is in quotes. I'm fully aware of all the ins and out of IP, OEM, Patents, etc... I'm an engineer for an OEM manufacturer, and swim in these waters daily. I'm using "ripping off" here in the aesthetic design language sense, not as in "there's some legal encroachment taking place". I would further strongly disagree with your latter point that the Zenith case looks anything like the Daytona. The case is perhaps the most striking difference, being much more angular and aggressive of a design than the Daytona. Stripped to bare midcases, no bezels, bracelets, etc... and sitting side by side, they would be clearly very different cases. The only similarity appears when looking head on in a two dimensional photo, because one can't get a true appreciation on the differences in covers,angle, and planes from such a sterile shot.

The zenith is so beautiful in so many aspects. From its 1mm larger sIze than daytona that makes it a better fit for bigger wrists, date feature that is helpful, 10 sec rotation that's more accurate, and beautiful open back case. I especially like the white dial with its contrasting black and blue subdial. Colorful without being busy. Add to all these the mid pricing makes the zenith the clear, indisputable winner for me

As a Breitling fan boy, I have the Chronomat, amongst many others. The brand that put a chronograph into a wristwatch after all. I would love the Zenith, the movement is stunning and I love the design. I would, and have in the past (before the price hype) turned down the Daytona. Not because it's a bad watch, but more because of the sort of attention it attracts and the sort of folk that value it for the price rather than the watch itself.

That's becoming the problem with Rolex--it's the one watch says volumes about the person wearing it, and it's saying some pretty bad things today. Daytona price hype has caused normal enthusiasts to recoil from it, and made it a magnet for the most superficial people you would ever meet, who prize conspicuous consumption over real value.

The reason I like Breitling is the fact they are well made and stand up to day to day use and the after-sales service was, and still is, first class. The in-house B01 is just the icing on the cake.

Hi Jenni, I'm wearing my Rolex Daytona 116500LN white dial as I write this. I love how this watch wears. It disappears on the wrist because it is so comfortable, and when I do look down to check the time, I find myself looking at it again and again to admire it. I do sometimes wish that the pushers were not screw down so I could time something NOW, rather than 5 seconds from now. I also sometimes wish there was a date, but NOT in the 4:30 position (I hate all watches with the date at that spot). 6:00 in the running seconds sub-dial would be good, or maybe replace all that unneeded text below the ROLEX at 12:00 with the date. I paid retail for the Daytona when it came out, and I am dumbfounded by the prices people are asking for it now. If I were in the market for a chronograph today, I would seriously consider the Zenith, because this Rolex supply/demand mismatch is getting out of hand.

Between them, I think I would choose the Daytona. Though I often don’t mind “chunkiness”, I find that sleeker, streamlined watches just feel better on my wrist. Though I do appreciate that the Breitling case looks reinforced around the crown and pushers, places where chrono cases tend to wear-out and leak. Unfortunately, my Jenni size wrists won’t hold the Chronomat well. Things that I look for in a chronograph: 1. Durable movement- I think the 7750 has spoiled me, but this movement just keeps working and stays accurate. 2. Dial legibility- Especially when using the chronograph function, I find I appreciate the details applied in order to achieve this, especially since I prefer smaller, slimmer watch cases. I think legibility is a reason the Omega Speedmaster has such a timeless design. Unfortunately for me, it achieves this legibility with a very large dial, with a consequent wide case that doesn’t fit my wrists.

Great breakdown of 3 beautiful watches. For the Breitling, while the Chronomat name was introduced in the 1940's, the aesthetic of this watch is more inspired by the revival of the Chronomat in 1982. The rouleaux braclet that the 2020 piece reinterprets was introduced with the 1980's model.

I'm not usually a fan of dual tone watches but that Breitling in dual tone looks fantastic. The gold really pops on the bullet bracelet. I'm a big Breitling fan boy but that Zenith is just a stunning watch and would be my choice. Daytona comes third for me but I'd bite the hand off a dealer if I could get one so I could sell it and buy the other two.

I have had the Chronomaster Sport for a few weeks now. I agree, the clasp is definitely not up to Rolex or Omega standards, but frankly, the bracelet is off the watch in the box. I'm wearing it on a sailcloth strap, which suits it very well. When I was wearing it on a bracelet, while I own the right tool, I found a wooden toothpick works wonders for the micro adjustment and is less likely to scratch the polished sides on the claps if I am a bit shaky.

Fortunate enough to touch try and and wear all of these 3 exact time pieces, but here is my opinion on these wrist instruments ... Rolex amazing watch but you are most definitely paying for the brand, Zenith is outstanding heritage and getting precision THE first auto chrono instrument movement, but BREITLING beats them all amongst the 3 shown for best value for dollar checking all the boxes in brand heritage, in house B01 movement, and pure beauty of the watch panda chrono, oh and that bracelet! I may be partial as I’ve just added this silver dial panda to my ever growing watch collection!

Jenni - love your videos. How many chronos can you own? I've recently added to my collection (of 6 watches) a Breitling Navitimer Chrono with the B01 movement, and a Zenith Defy El Primero 21 on the blue alligator band. Both rotate on my wrist with a vintage Submariner. Can't see spending the money on a Daytona. But I'm super impressed with the Zenith technology. Therefore the purchase of the Defy. An analog watch with a 1/100th second timer? Nobody needs it, but it shows off the technology they're creating. Bravo.

Great video, really enjoyed this. I’m in the market for a new piece and have been considering the Zenith. I’m completely new to Zenith. The Zenith (to me in my inferior knowledge) seems to offer the most sophisticated movement and is very well made. The Rolex is first and foremost (lets face it) an indicator of wealth. Undoubtedly a great watch but I’m pretty sure most people buy it because its a Rolex Daytona rather than for the mechanical quality of it. The Breitling is a great watch with enough brand prestige to satisfy most people. I have a Navitimer and with the exception that it removes a layer of skin from my fingers when I wind it (!!) its a great watch.

Wonderful video. Love all 3, but I'd choose the Zenith. I also really like the blue Defy Skyline Skeleton. Love to find them on the secondary market since you'd think Zenith preowned would drop more in price than a Rolex, Omega.
