I'm listening to this podcast to try, at 69 years, to get more serious about my health, I did start before covid because I had long been questioning my doctor's knowledge and his quick offering drugs as cures. But, as you go thru all of these points, the balance, the testing the foods that contain copper and those that work for and against it's absorbing into our bodies, I now have confirmed my long held belief as to why my mother lived so long and so well. I would say she ate 90% of the foods you recommended, loved all fish, ate sardines and oysters, clams, anchovies, mushrooms, garlic good olive oil, liver, every vegetable, dug up dandelions for salads.. fermented foods, addiction to pickles, she used them if she has acid reflux instead of tums. She could have used magnesium and vitamins here and there but she considered them drugs as well. She ate less fruit, little sweets. Meat lover as well. Walked all of her life, to work and back, 10 miles a day in her late teens for years, then when older, hours for enjoyment . No dementia, no shaking, would bake herself in the sun, no sunscreen, refused most medications most of her life, stopped taking vaccines for any reason, thought we were fools to trust big pharma, politics and masks. And died at home, with me when she had decided she'd had enough of the world at nearly 104 years

Everyone who has copper deficiency should look into Colloidal Copper. Copper supplements take forever and accumulate in our system to toxic levels. Colloidal Copper is processed immediately and what the body doesn't need, you urinate out. Unlike Ionic Copper, it has a negative charge and doesn't attach itself to internal organs and accumulate into toxic levels. It is the best way to process Copper.

I would like to point out a correction to an outdated comment made by you about 'malnutrition in India due to starvation ...' - this is outdated information by more than 50-60 years. There can be isolated incidences of malnutrition in India (largest population in the world) similar to many of the so called 1st world countries. India today is the 5th largest economy in the world (likely to move up to 3rd or 4th place in the near term) and malnutrition is not a way of life due to starvation etc.

Hi Dr. Osborne! My doctor put me on Zinc Carnosine 75 mg twice a day, and I’ve been taking it for 3 weeks. I’ve experienced heavy fatigue with a lack of motivation. I’m experiencing a lot of the symptoms of copper deficiency. I am anemic but before taking the supplement, my ferritin had increased from diet alone because I removed food sensitivities and started eating more meat. I had good energy and was doing very well. However, since starting this supplement, I’ve become very tired and my ferritin levels have dropped. The tingling and burning in my arms and back are more prevalent now. I also keep feeling like I’m getting sick but I don’t. I have to agree with you about testing. My doctor wants to put me on iron supplements but I don’t think that’s the problem. I believe the Zinc has depleted my Copper. So I don’t want to take anymore minerals unless I get tested. I have had premature greying since diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and I wonder if Copper deficiency has played a role. I’ve never been tested for it.

Hello from Denmark
2 ай бұрын
I just found this long comment ( but absolutely valuable) in another video , what do you think? "Once and for all, let's straighten a few things out regarding copper: The majority of people are not "very high in copper". In fact, it's the opposite. What the media fail to mention, is a report by the US Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences which stated that only 25% of the US population gets enough copper daily (which is mentioned in this video). With this conflicting information, how can we know what to do? According to recent researches as many as 75% of the population just in the U.S have a severe or mild copper deficiency. Yet we should all fear this very important trace mineral? Why? Because of "toxicity"? When we are deficient? Copper deficiency is a huge problem in the world today, since the soil lacks the copper we need. Too little copper in the body can cause aneurysm (eating too much zinc without copper is a really bad idea). Copper deficiency symptoms: Fatigue, decreased function in the thyroid gland, headache, dizziness, migraine, cold hands and feet, tourettes syndrome, tics, nervousness, insomnia, unable to relax, tremors, shakiness and shaky feeling, spasm, cramp, depression, dry skin, gray hair (suddenly), cravings for chocolate and/or nuts, constipation, candidiasis, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, low HDL (good) cholesterol, high LDL (bad) cholesterol, anxiety, panic attacks, bad memory, PMS, mono... You do not always have ALL these symptoms but 3-4 or more. People are still way too afraid of copper due to utter ignorance of many doctors out there. They are simply not up to date with the latest knowledge of copper. Copper toxicity? Is it real? Copper can be a confusing little trace mineral. You can be copper deficient and have too much copper at the same time. Sounds strange, right? To talk about "copper toxicity" is nonsense. The word "toxicity" in this case is very misleading. However, it is crucial that the copper should be in an "available" form and not in a biounavailable form. Let me explain all this as clearly as I can: The really sad part is that almost nobody (not even most medical doctors) has the slightest idea how to fix this a copper dysregulation problem... Most people have a copper deficiency, which means copper is biounavailable because it does not have a protein carrier, most notably due to weak adrenals and poor liver function and missing the raw materials to make these protein carriers. Here is why: Although there are numerous reasons for the prevalence of copper "toxicity", the most important cause is adrenal gland insufficiency. Individuals with adrenal insufficiency are unable to utilize copper properly. The reason for this is that copper can only be utilized in the body if it is attached to a protein substance for transport and storage. The major protein that copper is attached to is ceruloplasmin. Ceruloplasmin is a protein which binds copper so that it can be utilized in biochemical reactions. When the adrenal glands are underactive, they are unable to send out a message to the liver to release ceruloplasmin from the liver and, therefore, copper becomes biounavailable. As a result of excessive tissue storage of biounavailable or unbound copper, a deficiency of available copper occurs, even when dietary intake of copper is more than adequate. The result may be a craving for foods high in copper, such as chocolate, avocados etc. The outer result is multiple bodily dysfunctions as a direct or indirect result of copper imbalance. Copper: As a rule of thumb, when the sodium/potassium ration is less than 2:1, copper becomes biounavailable This occurs because adequate adrenal activity is needed for the production of ceruloplasmin, a copper binding protein. Now, HERE IS THE REALLY INTERESTING PART: In these cases, it is wise to supplement with a small amount of copper (0.5 mg to 1 mg per day) for a while (weeks or a few months) even if the tissue copper level is high. But why??? Because this helps restore glandular activity, which requires bioavailable copper. It is like priming an old-fashioned water pump. You had to put in a little water in order for it to start pumping out water. In other words: even if you are really deficient in copper or if your body has too much biounavailable or unbound copper in both cases you need to supplement with copper. When biounavailable or unbound, start really SLOW. This is the secret how you heal many, many diseases. Copper is an extremely crucial mineral. Unfortunately copper has been bashed and degraded for decades, just because no one really understood how important this trace mineral is and how it works. The fear of copper is very, very unfortunate since so many illnesses and severe diseases can be healed with it when supplemented as it should be supplemented. It took me over 20 years to find this secret. A restored copper imbalance would likely heal tens of millions of sick people out there. The medical field is not interested enough though (yet). No money in it...? Big pharma is powerful... Please do not be afraid of copper! Just take it in the right amount and in the right way, with a lot of patience. Start with a low dose (see above). It may take months, you can't rush these things, but It will help you! Don't forget to add a little zinc after a few months so that you do not get an imbalance between copper and zinc (1 mg copper, 10 mg zinc. 2 mg copper, 20 mg zinc...) And please do never ever forget that if you are deficient in copper and take several grams of Vitamin C per day, it is even more important to supplement with copper since Vitamin C is an antagonist to copper. Do not stop taking Vitamin C, just supplement with enough copper as well. A few hours between copper and Vitamin C is never wrong. "

B1, thiamine, deficiency causes neuropathy. It’s overlooked since it mimics many other diseases. Copper is rarely checked also. Electrolytes are so very important and rarely checked when symptoms appears. Potassium is hard to test so now it’s a high deficiency.

Even though serum copper is not a preferred test, if you are LOW in serum copper, you STILL want to get that into the normal range, right? I have been supplementing with 2 mg copper for a year and moved from slight deficiency to low normal. I am also supplementing/measuring (plasma) zinc.

Hi Peter, thank you for an interesting lecture about copper. I have a question for you I hope you'll be able to answer. I recently did 2 hair sample lab tests. One for trace minerals and one for food and metal sensitivities. The trace mineral test tells me copper toxicity and the sensitivity test tells me that I'm sensitive to Zinc and should avoid exposure to it. This is very confusing. I can also add that since I had a problem with tinnitus last summer I started consuming 50mg of Zinc every day as I read a study that Zinc could be helpful. I have now stopped with the Zinc supplements and I don't know what to do. My white blood cells are also under normal. Any advice on how to move on from here? Sincerely, Peter

…take your Zinc…30 mg MWF with food…and make sure it’s in a capsule form…not tablet….a sensitivity is not and allergy…but copper is a trace element so you don’t need to supplement on a regular basis…3 mg once a weekly…but possibly, hair samples that show high concentrations of a mineral may reflect a lack of the body’s ability to eliminate the mineral…not necessarily a correlation with systemic absorption…so you should consider checking your hydrochloric acid production in your stomach..because achlorhydria will prevent absorption…and that’s possibly associated with an infection of H Pylori…and then the body try’s to store the overload..that’s a safe response…so remember allergies seldom disappear, but sensitivities come and go…

Regarding neutrophils, my last 5 blood works had shown 1,97 - 1,97 - 2,38 , 1,40 - 2,11 (× 10^9/L) and when ever I look it up the internet, I find info that it's too low and this and that...but I've had several doctors now say it's normal for the blood test sometimes to show low neutrophil count, it could also be that my blood volume was low due to dehydration when blood tests were done etc. But I feel like they just want to move on instead of looking into things? I don't know what to believe any longer because I've had weird symptoms when ever my neutrophil count was low, like breathing issues especially when I took Zinc supplements, and also issues healing my skin, weird sores in my mouth that would come and go etc. Also things like free testosterone was borderline low in my opinion, like 0,3081 nmol/L and 16,14 nmol/L on T total, and again I am having all the symptoms of low T but doctors say my T levels are within accepted value range. I had started losing more and more muscle strength, being lethargic, brain fog, really insanely bad recovery from gym workouts, normally 1-2 days recovery time on a muscle group, now it would take me up to 9 days!! I mean, if that's not worrying, I don't know how to ever get the attention of my doctors... I have been self diagnosing and self medicating last few years because doctors have seriously just left me alone to deteriorate here in Denmark, so supplementing with adaptogens, testosterone boosting herbs, increased my protein intake (like A LOT +2 grams per kilo body weight), collagen, magnesium, (can't take Zinc, it still gives me breathing issues, and B6 also made me feel like leaving my body), high dose B3 niacin has done wonders, B1 and B2, vitamin D+K2 and so many other things, I've basically become my own traditional medicine prescriber. I see you also mention Neuropathy, that's also a symptom I am still dealing with especially whenever I lay down.

Very helpful video! I started looking into Copper because I'm constantly exhausted. I've had covid three times and supplemented with zinc and vitamin C for months because of that, and now I'm probably deficient in copper. I do eat avocado, salmon, dark chocolate and beef liver regularly, so I don't know how bad it actually is. I ruled out everything else like magnesium, potassium, vitamin D, B vitamins, selenium etc., so I'm almost certain it has to be Copper. Everything related to iron has been good as well when I tested it last year.

Me too ! I started taking C in 2020 because of covid. It helped with arthritis too . I was taking at least 6 grams of C everyday. I began to have severe muscle fatigue and weakness , tremors and my hands have fine motor control problems. After all this time I can trace it back to high vitamin C .

@@biankak4994 For at least a year and a half , also C- flushes too - up to 17 grams sometimes. Severe fatigue began to get better when I stopped taking it . I'm still dealing with some tremor and muscle weakness , but I'm walking at least 3000 steps each day to regain muscle strength and coordination. I'm almost back to normal now. If your ceruloplasmin is made nonfunctional you will have a build up of unusible copper , causing nerve problems. Also too - to much antioxidents will weaken muscles because muscle repair and regrowth needs oxidation .
