Frankly this series is one of those perfect examples of how anime used to be so great and so unique. You've got a fairly dark setting. The story telling swings wildly between comedic and dramatic with a fair bit of action in between. And every now and then something completely out there happens, but it still works for the story and setting. Everything fits. Even the puma twins fan service is very very much in the correct places and fits the characters. I miss discovering new anime stuff like this.

It's kind of hard when you have a giant tank that can't maneuver well when going in formation down a crowded street. Also the Tank Police are generally incompetent, much like how Robocop is a satire about the inept greed of corporations, Tank Police is a satire over the incompetence of a police state and its police force.

whats weird is that these early 90s english language dubs really smashed it with the casting, the re-writing of the script with all the gags, they really put the effort in and the soundrack for the english version of DTP was amazing too.
