Awesome tutorial! If you're stuck on replacing the rubber gimbal gasket/damper, save yourself some time and READ THIS FIRST!!!! It's fairly easy to pull the tiny holes in the rubber gasket over the plastic anchor points on the gimbal, but I was stuck on putting the rubber tabs on the outside of the gasket into the the tiny slots in the drone's frame. I struggled for close to an hour, using a variety of tools and tweezers and chewing up the rubber a bit. I guess during initial assembly, these rubber discs have long tapered tabs that are easily pulled through the slots. Once the rubber tabs are firmly seated in the slot (there is a shallow groove that retains it), the excess length is clipped off. This leaves only a small, spongy nub that is nearly impossible to pull through the plastic slot in the airframe with tweezers or push through the slot without tearing it. I finally thought to put a tiny drop of dish soap on the plastic slots to lubricate them and then I was able to stuff the the rubber "tabs" back though (from inside) with a small flathead screwdriver on the first try. Probably going to clean up the residual soap with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol, so it doesn't slip back out.

Little tip to add to this video, As some may have seen and experienced, the rubbers are a pain to put back in place, I was able to leave the rubber on the gimble and only replace the gimble, it was easier to put the rubber back on the gimble and leaving them on the drone. It also prevent from damaging any of them by fighting to put it on the gimble.

I have a single clip of one of the rubber holders that is broken. I mean those plastic caps that go on the gimbal motor that have 3 clips on which the rubber holders are placed. With one clip missing, I cant mount the rubber. Do I need to replace the whole gimbal housing or can I somehow replace only the gimbal motor/the its plastic cap? Other than that I need the two rubber holders, of course.

My brother broke the gimbal arm on the side with the wires, I’ve taken the gimbal out and repaired it with araldite, but I’ve noticed the rotation side that broke doesn’t rotate smoothly it’s very stiff whereas the other side that has the copper rotates very smoothly, my question is that how they should feel or has the crash damaged some sort of bearing on one side

I have sourced 8 pairs of grommets after having issues getting the original rubber grommet back in place. Actually when I purchased these I bought several pairs expecting to ruin them trying to install them.. turns out from factory these are left long, pulled through and then cut off afterward. Anyone looking for a replacement set please message me as I can’t return them! 😅 Install is super easy!

YES, wish I had the comments before taking on this project because everything was simple except for the rubber shock absorbers. Mine are completely ruined and will now have to order more and figure out a way to put them in without destroying them. 100% read the comments is my lesson and I am highly disappointed in this tutorial for not warning or even mentioning the issues associated with the these shock absorbers. Looking back, even the guy in this video all but destroys them. Not impressed by "how-fixit" because of this one major oversight on their part. I'm a novice and this was my first attempt to repair a drone like this. Considering they're acting as professionals, they should 100% update this video and address the challenge with the shock absorbers.

Great Tutorial! BUT there's still something I can't figure out... I've replaced the cable without issue and the gimbal/camera is working again, however, after multiple attempts I can't seat the rubber properly... what I mean is, I put the rubber through the mounting holes, gimbal facing forward, but EVERY time, the gimbal is not in the right position to have full rotation up and down. It won't look straight down, and has to far of a movement range upward. Any suggestions? I've tried rotating and marking the rotation of the gimbal before placing, but I just can't get it.

I watched this to see if there was an easy way to push/pull the rubber tips through, they get all messed up doing it this way , its difficult. I prefer to push them through with no gimbal installed, then using tweezers spread open each hole and pull it around each tab, starting with the one with the notch. I'll make a video

@@vandantandel7289 I bought about fifty of the rubber things, new ones come with long tabs that easily push through, these gimbal are easy to rebuild, sections. arms, motors, have had many just a bad cable (no up and down moving) .

My mini 3 pro in active track clipped a branch and dropped about 8ft the gimbal is cracked at the bottom and the plastic casing around the frame popped out a bit. I clipped the plastic frame back together and miraculously from what I can see it seems to still function. I need to test it when weather is ok. The gimbal seems to have full movement what do I need to be looking at when testing it? Do I need recalibrate anything ?

what a great video! thank you! but I have a few questions. I flew mine up into a tree and of coarse wrecked, after that the gimble sometimes works. Other times it say's gimble stuck or gimble overloaded. i don't see any damage and don't want to drop $300 if i don't need to. thank you for you advice everyone.

DJI wouldn't send the rubber holders to me to fix mine myself. They made me send them my drone through DJI Refresh for $65 and replaced the drone instead of dropping a few in the mail. They said the rubber holders weren't "an available part for purchase".

Same here. I crashes my drone and the left side of the gimbal was dettached from the rubber holder. I managed however to put it back on by using twizers but only I was only able to connect 2 holes. There are a total pf 3 holes. I calibrated the gimbal and somehow it was successful. I was able to shoot today. But i will still send iy for repair since the gimbal on the left and right is not level due to the dettachment from the rubber holder

I had to go a little further and replace the gimble bracket because mine broke. After going through this the hardest part was the rubber retainers. After messing with them for 2 hours It became obvious that they did not want us to fix these things ourselves. I even tried tying a string around the rubber tab to pull it through and it cut through part of it. They've made it very difficult to re-use the old rubber retainers because there was a thin tab you would feed through and trim off later. Unless you have those you cant feed them through without damaging them. My solution is to drill a 7/64ths or 2.7mm hole through each slot to pull the rubber through. This way you dont damage them and its enough to hold them in place

An adhesive that connects the rubber tabs to a longer string/strip could also work. After you have the string connected to the tabs, pull the tab through by the string, and then clip off the excess string? I have not tried it, but I think I would prefer it over loosening the holes themselves. I would be scared the tab would slip through again with minor stress.

I replaced my DJI Mini 3 Pro broken Gimbal Yaw Motor. After replacement, though the Gimbal is getting calibrated successfully, it keeps pointing to one side always. Apart from giving Gimbal Motor Overload error (1D010003) occasionally, which goes away automatically in few seconds, it is not showing an other gimbal error. Could someone please guide how we can get this gimbal centred now? It keeps pointing to either extreme left or right always even after successful Gimbal, IMU & Compass Calibrations. Please guide.

@dredlew I ended up doing it a while back and it worked great. Make sure u align both sides and put the rubbers in slots but not all the way and turn on drone so it aligns gimble scroll Camara up and down and if it goes good without binding it should be good.

my rubber holding the gimbal was torn, which shows the message that the gimbal is stuck. there are three slots the rubber holds onto the frame. if u crashed ur drone, most likely one of them 3 are broken. change the rubber. aliexpress has them

15 mins later, I was about to give up but just happened to order a sowing kit. I used the non sharp side of the sowing needles to put the end in and then leave it, then another one to keep pushing them in. Taking them out was pulling the whole thing back so I just left them in instead. Much easier now. 1 down, 2 to go.

Please, don’t follow this tutorial! You end up spending money for nothing. Since the ‘new’ gimbal does have another serialnumber, there is NO WAY to calibrate the gimbal. You will end up having a gimbal hanging in a corner, not responding to your input. Not only the gimbal and camera, even the front sensors can’t be renewed. Same problem, another serialnumber. DJI becomes another Apple, anything to prevent that you repair your drone yourself 😖
