Yup, I broke a rib the first time out on my Shifter. Then I bought a rib protector, It was ceazy painful. I definitely learned my lesson.
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
yep, its the most common injury in karting and also the most debilitating.

Having the kart set up to fit the driver also helps, correct seat fitment, and pedals and heelstops adjusted to fit the driver stops you being thrown around in the corners and brace for impacts better.
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
bloody impacts alright. especially the ribs in my opinion
@JimmyJimJimJames3 жыл бұрын
I had all that dialed in and was VERY snug in my seat. Still broke a rib without the rib protector.

great vids, love them! how do you feel about knee pads and elbow pads? seems there are mixed opinions about using either. cheers
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
Hey Manuel, I think its a good idea, especially if you are damaging those areas when you drive. use them if your knees are up and banging in the fuel tank, and your elbow is hitting the cylinder head of the engine IMO. Thanks for tuning in and sharing the videos

Good and to the point :) Always buy the best equipment you can, especially the helmet, it's vital to protect your brain, you only get one and you do need it, please don't risk it. I'm running a Arai GP6-S these days, way over what were required to have being both FIA & SNELL approved, but so worth it.
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
Yeah correct, always use an Arai (just saying)

I cannot stress how important a neck brace + rib cage protector combo is. Even in light touches the neck goes very very easily in karting.
@cal46932 жыл бұрын
I have suffered more neck injuries with one on than when I took my neck brace off, haven’t worn one in 2 years and never will again

Is the GP7 arai approved and ok for karting or do I need to use the sk-6? I only ask because I would like to dual purpose the helmet if I can.
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
yeah the GP7 is good to go. don't need the HANS post obviously, but the helmet is sweet.

This is absurdely OP for karting, but if you can afford it go ahead!!

Can you talk about budgeting next? Getting into racing is expensive and it would be helpful to get into it in a budget
@PowerRepublic2 жыл бұрын
yeah racing is expensive. its about 6oo buck per race on average here in Australia. if you only have 2 k per year, only plan to race once every 3 months and be happy with that

Is a rib protector necessary in rental karting ?
@lemonstrangler2 жыл бұрын
whats rental karting ?
@lt.winters38322 жыл бұрын
No, In Belgium you can do it without rib protection no need to buy it. If you planning to do Real Competition on a real circuit than yes it is needed.
@nonicknamenoname34502 жыл бұрын
to follow the rules of a rental karting facility - no, I doubt it's required somewhere. For your own safety - YES AND YES. As it was said in the video: first you break your ribs then you buy a rib protector.
