I can't believe we as ordinary citizens have to jump through such hoops to protect ourselves from these ubiquitous toxins. THIS is what the government should be doing. It's their job. And if something is cleaner/greener by definition they have less toxins. Unless of course they're greenwashing, which is so widespread these days.

@@AJPukyes if you're Alex Jones, this is all part of their "soft kill" strategies. 😅 So hard to know if they're evil or incompetent. Honestly learning about the biolabs in Wuhan and also apparently Ukraine and gain of function research, like how Coronavirus has segments of HIV in it and now some people have "long COVID" and just have completely shot immune systems - it kind of does feel like a malevolent entity is trying to kill/weaken citizens. 😬

@@AJPuk Nah. Intentional pushes conspiracies. These plastics are just the obvious choices to maximize profits. It seems like a conspiracy and coordinated when really it's just these companies making selfish choices for money. We have moved on from non-stick cook ware a long time ago. We have all steel but this year we got into cast iron pans and it’s been a lovely experience. Once you get the hang of it, your cast irons become so central to cocking. This morning I even managed to flip my eggs in the air! Only side effect is your forearms will get a workout!
@ilonabaier6042

Interesting experience. My tip for you is to have your iron levels checked on a regular basis, as too high levels are more dangerous than not enough iron! This happened to me when I cooked with cast iron too often. My iron levels shot through the roof and it took a while for them to come down. I cook with iron now only a couple of times per month, rather sparingly. You can google this and see for yourself. My doc has also confirmed this. Perhaps Dr Patrick will respond.

@@ilonabaier6042 indeed these are also health risks but in general seems like you only need to avoid cooking acidic foods and make sure the pan is always properly seasoned. After that I believe the next risk would be dropping it on your foot. I’ll check my iron levels though!

@@DrewPeabawls Cooking acidic foods does extract more iron from the pan but I never cooked or heated up for example apple sauce. Sometimes I would cook recipes with tomatoes and tomato sauce. I have been vegan for 20 years and my iron intake from my diet alone is adequate but not extreme. My high iron reading was from the pan. But as they say every body and everybody reacts differently and this is why having regular blood work done is a good idea. I enjoyed cooking with my iron pan because it was fun and the food tasted better. Proper seasoning is essential. Many youtube vids recommend flaxseed oil so I have used this. Bon appétit.

I think she’s completely on point. I really like how she admits that it’s hard to eliminate all plastics that you’re going to ingest or plastics coming off of your clothing. I’ve been making this transition myself over the last couple of years. The one thing I do have to give up are the to go paper coffee cups that I get from convenience stores. I’ve been putting off buying a yeti, but maybe it’s time to splurge for that. Often I just take my own Ceramic mug to get coffee, but they don’t all fit easily into my cupholder in the car. I think her advice is excellent and it’s definitely not too extreme. I’d love to get a reverse osmosis system , but they are pretty pricey.

Great, informative video. Thank you for sharing this! One other huge contributor is scented products which often have phthalates. Anything with fragrance (parfum) [Diethyl phthalate] is problematic. This includes makeup products, perfumes, cleaning products, hair products, etc. It's a pretty brutal one unfortunately and I've struggled to cut it out completely. The scary thing too is that these phthalates can bind to dust and hair particles (like dog hair), so you constantly inhale them as they recirculate unless you are cleaning constantly.

Silicone - what about Diva cups? Basically it’s plastic and it sits inside your body for a week/month. Also, we just built a house and the plumbing lines are PEX… plastic! We got a Purewell water filtration system for Christmas. We followed the instructions on cleaning/priming the filters and ever since my wife has not been well and her symptoms worsen directly after drinking the water. We stopped using it and returning it. Going back to drinking alkaline water, it only comes in plastic bottles but we pour it into mason jars to drink it.

What about the content of PFAS in animal liver? PFAS is concentrated in the liver. In some states the government has issued warnings not to consume the liver of wild game since the contamination levels can be extreme. I've also seen studies on domestic animals suggesting high levels, but I don't think it has been broadly studied.

Dr. Patrick, I appreciate all the information that you’ve provided. I would be keen to see an updated video addressing the micro plastics related to your skin care routine if you have the time and constitution to do that. As women we put a lot of poisons on our skin and I just listened to your face care Q&A video. Sounds like a lot of potential micro plastics and toxins to me, but I would defer to your scientific opinion.

The stainless steel tanks for reverse osmosis is great, but they often use a petroleum based bladder inside of them. Also you may want to test your stainless steel for lead. Almost all stainless steel is made in China, and they lie on the composition quite a bit. Test kits show lead in the steel sometimes.

@@enchanted222 it’s hard to provide links. I have gotten this information from several sources and emails with reverse osmosis system companies. There are test kits for lead available at hardware stores (sometimes), and Amazon. It’s usually a liquid and cotton ball/q-tip you swab on to a surface and watch for a color change, indicating the presence of lead. There is a video by Max Guitar on KZbin kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5-aiatjapiYhtksi=_QTyIguhCEMs94kx showing how some guitar frets, from Chinese made guitars, have lead in them. As for the reverse osmosis tanks, I have emailed several companies. All that answered use a “rubber” bladder in the tank. Most if not all use Butyl rubber, if the company knew the material. There are tankless systems, they are just slower, and “waste” more water, but are likely safer. The only issue is that most systems are made in China as well, so you have to be cautious about the materials they use, metal fittings, filter media, etc. There are some U.S. made systems, one of which is completely made in the U.S., but it uses a tank. uswatersystems.com I keep emailing them hoping they will make a tankless version. Some systems use European parts or Taiwanese parts, which should be fine, but the only way to know if Chinese parts are used is to email them. Unfortunately some just don’t know. I haven’t found a great tankless option yet. Just better compromises. www.ro-system.org/ is a good resource. I hope U.S. Systems makes a tankless option, or I can find a tankless reverse osmosis system made with parts anywhere but China. Not for any bigoted reasons. Simply because they have been found to lie about material composition, allowing toxic materials where they are supposed to be banned, because the PRC does not regulate the companies, and does not allow other international organizations to do so. So if profits would benefit by the use of toxic materials, some companies will use them, and just lie about it.

Your whole home versus osmosis unit is great. Most houses in America built since the late 90s though have all PVC… meaning plastic… Plumbing throughout the house. Are you re-plumbing your entire house? I certainly think micro plastics are not good for us, and I think the vast majority of our micro plastic exposure is in the “last mile”… Meaning the plumbing in our house, the things we cook our food in and around, etc.
