If you're not sure if you can do this or not you can assemble a "home-made" pot-pie with completely pre-made ingredients as a way of getting your feet wet. It won't be nearly as good as I'm sure this is but it'll be a step away from the pre-made frozen pot pies. Bag of frozen mixed vegetables, cream of whatever soup (chicken is pretty good), pre-cooked chicken (can get a whole pre-roasted one and disassemble or just get the pre-cooked meat), store bought biscuits (think something like Pillsburry biscuits in a can). Heat the soup, throw in the shredded chicken and bag of vegetables & mix thoroughly & add salt & pepper to taste along with whatever other seasonings you like (rosemary & thyme are pretty good here). Pour this into a 9x5" baking pan and then top with the biscuits...can cut these up to get greater coverage but it's not necessary. Then just bake as per the biscuit directions (in terms of temp) until they're golden brown. Let cool for a couple of minutes & serve. This was kinda a staple around my house growing up once my dad learned how to do this...pretty sure he got the recipe off of a package of Grand's Biscuits actually. Worlds better than the pre-made frozen pot-pies though also not nearly as homemade as the Joshua's.

Still good, but next time I may dehydrate them myself. 2. I used chicken thighs (skin on) instead of a full chicken. Again, still very good. 3. I used a pie crust on top instead of a puff pastry. Josh, I made this for my parents for Mother's Day a few weeks ago (with a few modifications), and they really enjoyed it. Thanks for the recipe and for the video!

The thing that makes some of the frozen food pot pie selections better than a lot of home made recipe versions is the fact that almost all of them come with a full pan crust, as opposed to having crust just on the top. For me, once the crust is gone, the rest of it might as well go in the trash, because if I can't have a bit of crust with every bite, I'll just go to Popeye's and get some good fried chicken.

Honestly, you and Babish are the best chefs/cooks on KZbin. I’m addicted to all of both your videos. I’m really glad you’re on KZbin Joshua because it’s a nice change of pace to have a genuine calm channel that doesn’t click bait and a person that really loves his craft. Keep cooking and making vids man. This is coming from the definition of an anti chef who can barely cook a spaghetti bolognese! 😂😂 I am passionate and love food though and I love watching your videos. Thank you Joshua, you’re a real one! 👍👍

The bottomless pie does solve the soggy bottom problem but I love pastry so I think a double crust would be much better. Most would agree.

Yo so I just made this. Had to make some changes due to lack of ingredients and I'm really bad at planning. My nephew looked at me and said it was amazing. I've never been happier to cook something so good. Thanks!
