Well they are technically inspired by the same real story's to some extent, both season 1 of vinland and northman are inspired by the viking story that inspired Shakespeare Hamlet. Vinland saga of course just use the themes and ideas for its over all story's. So your not wrong with the abridged idea as they both technically abridges of another story lol. Both fantastic though.

Love seeing Dororo and Zombieland Saga get high praise since they're in my top 3 MAPPA shows. And love seeing GOHS get shit on since it's my last favorite anime ever, nevermind my most hated MAPPA show. But Vinland Saga is my #1 MAPPA show... so L take and I'm literally shitting and crying now. Also Banana Fish is really damn good. More anime fans should show it more love

No mecha shows, so studio MAPPA gets a D tier animation studio. Although mad respect to them adapting old manga for a time period, but now they are making just Shonen Jump adaptations. Like Banana Fish, Dorohedoro, Dororo, and Ushio & Tora are all classic manga from at least 20 years ago. It’s kinda a shame, because I would’ve loved to see them adapt Sakigake!! Otokojuku or something.

Like, I enjoyed pretty much everything about the show except for the actual writing and plot. You know, the important bits. I feel like Yasuke is an important historical figure based purely on the incredibly unlikely circumstances he experienced, and while we don't have much detail about his life, I was really hoping for something that would sort of cement him as a real person. Instead, we got mechasamurai and magic. They somehow managed to make him feel fictional.
