Good info. YT recommended your hummus, so here I am. I do prep by cooking freezing some stuff, like beans. I am cooking only for myself, so chopping stuff ahead would speed up the expiration date of my produce. I like to cook big batches of food and then freeze it, so when I don't feel like cooking, I always have food available. Ooo I need freezer hacks. My lemons always go bad eventually. You should have much more views. You are direct and pleasant to watch and listen. 🎉🎉🎉I am on mostly on WFPB so I am always open to new ideas❤🎉

Aww thank you and welcome! 🤗 When I am cooking only for myself I usually just do smaller quantities of prepped veggies and sometimes do 2 preps a week instead of one big one on Sunday. Helps with the freshness of veggies! But freezing is always a great option too. 😃

Lettuce will only grow if the roots were cut low enough. They have to be able to grow new roots and then they need soil or will rot. Green onions rot too in water. You have to change the soil every few days. It is best to put them in soil and they don't die if you keep them watered.
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 8 ай бұрын
Interesting.... I've done both and have not had success with soil at all! Only with water! 😧😧
@thegreengoddess8850

@@LetsEatPlants cut lettuce usually doesn’t grow at all because it need roots and they cut them off too high for new roots to grow so they die after a month or so. All plants grow in soil though. Not sure how you keep green onions to keep growing for long in water though. Plants need nutrients to grow.

@LetsEatPlants

@@thegreengoddess8850 Not sure! I’ve had success with lettuce in water (sometimes I buy ones with the roots still attached but I’ve done it with both kinds) but every time I transfer it to soil it wilts and dies. 😣😣 So I’ve found that with just water I’m able to at least get the inside leaves to regrow. Same with green onion! Not sure why that is as I agree they need nutrients for long-term growth.

it would be good to give up plastic bags and boxes and replace them with enameled metal, glass, wood, hemp or cotton bags
@stefanie1928
@stefanie1928 8 ай бұрын
I think we all know that. However, we can't just throw away all the plastic containers that we've used up until now. She seems to use mostly glass containers, glass jars, cotton bags etc. and then an odd plastic container or plastic bag here and there. We all do that. It's pretty expensive to replace everything at once, so most people have to do this over time. Maddie is obviously doing the best she can!
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 8 ай бұрын
Definitely! I've mentioned that in previous videos as well that we are transitioning to get rid of all plastics, but as Stefanie mentioned it's not always cost effective to do that right off the bat. I also think it's best to use something you already have to its full potential before getting rid of it. 😊😊

Hi, Maddie! I'm glad to hear from you, as I was wondering how your pregnancy was going. It's great to see that you're on top of your vitamins and nutrients. I assume you're taking B-12, as part of that, right? I thought I was getting enough B-12, since I eat some animal products (I'm Flexitarian), plus it's in my soy milk and multivitamins...but, I guess not! I was gifted a B-12 supplement, recently, and I decided to try it out. I suddenly had so much more energy and started waking up a few hours earlier than I had been! Also, I've been stalled in my weight loss, for about four years, despite working out like a beast, but I began to lose weight, again, and I think that's partly because of the B-12. I remember you saying that you were low on energy, in the last video, and suspected that it had to do with iron. So, that's good that you're being mindful of that. B-12 also factors into oxygenation and energy...which you probably know, but I just wanted to make sure ;) I love the Buddha bowl and I hear you regarding mixing the warm and cold elements, so it's more appealing, during the winter. There are so many flavor options for that, as well. Anyway, this was fun to watch and I'm sure it will be helpful to other women who are vegan and pregnant. I've never seen one like this, before, so that was a fab idea to do a video on it. Blessings! - Claire
@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants 8 ай бұрын
Aww thank you! Yes, there is B12 in the prenatal! And also in our soymilk we drink everyday. 😄 I actually supplemented with a B12 a few years ago (earlier in my vegan journey) and broke out with acne quite badly... realized I was taking way too much! My B12 levels have always been good in my bloodwork too, so I think a lot of the foods I'd been eating were fortified with it. 😅 But that's awesome that it has been helping you! I think it's so important for everyone (not just vegans!) to be checking vitamin levels with bloodwork and finding the best supplement routine. And thank you Claire! Yes, I hope it's helpful to others. I always think it's fun to watch others "what I eat in a day" to get inspiration. 😋
@JazzedatHome
@JazzedatHome 8 ай бұрын
You're welcome! That's great that you're on top of your B-12 and I hope that your energy has returned. I hear you about breaking out and the levels being too much. Too much of a good thing is still too much. I can't take curcumin or spirulina or a couple other things because they overstimulate my immune system and make me itch like mad. You're right that getting bloodwork is the only way to know, for sure, if our body has enough of something or needs more of it. Have you considered doing a video on what things you test for (and stay on top of), on a plant-based diet? I haven't seen anything like that, out there, either, and I think it would be really helpful. I'm also writing a blog post, which is a beginner's guide to the Flexitarian diet, and I would love to include that sort of thing. I do have a little snippet where I'm recommending that people see their doctor and get a baseline established, with their bloodwork and other things, before they embark on a major diet change, like that. The problem is that most doctors are not well-versed in nutrition and especially not plant-based nutrition. I even saw a dietician last week who knew jack squat about plant-based diets and it was kind of shocking. My point is that people can't necessarily count on their doctors knowing what to test for. But, if you shared what you do, they might be able to approach their doctor with that information. Blessings! - Claire@@LetsEatPlants
@LetsEatPlants

@@JazzedatHome Totally! That's a great idea for a video as I haven't shared that and I think it's something a lot of people would want to know. I've seen a few other vegans do it (showing their blood test results) to show they are getting adequate nutrition, but it would also be good to show what tests vegans should be taking. Very true about the doctors! It's so interesting to see the lack of knowledge about a plant based diet. I hope that changes in the future! 😊💛
@JazzedatHome
@JazzedatHome 7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Sorry for the delay. Am juggling many things, at the moment. I agree that a lot of people would want to know. That's good that people are showing their blood tests, but I agree that talking about what to have tested would be good, too. Yeah, unfortunately true. Ugh. Yes, hopefully things are starting to change, as plant-based diets grow in popularity and there's a greater demand for doctors and dieticians to know their stuff. I feel that Dr. Greger's work is really setting the standard for that and making the knowledge more available. Have you read his books? I just finished "How Not to Die" and "How Not to Diet". Next up is "How Not to Age", which I'm really interested in, since I'm 45, but I feel much older, since I have a spinal condition and am working to heal that. Blessings! @@LetsEatPlants 🌞😊
