Very helpfull guide. New player here. If I am lvl 60 is 200 str and 200 con is good enogh? Gs 600 btw

I’d personally push to 300 CON if possible, will really help you to do more basic attacks and less blocking, Grit is really useful

I didn't understand fully why healers can't heal before the group takes damage. Also, what does AOE stand for exactly?

AoE means Area of Effect If healers pre-heal - enemies will run to the healer because healing generates a lot of threat and it's especially bad if the Tank hasn't had time to hit them with an attack or taunt. There is no incentive to pre-heal because you only need to heal people that have lost health so it's better to wait a few seconds until someone needs to be healed and it prevents enemies running off straight to the healer.

I've been taking Tanking seriously for the past 3 days, first time on an MMO and actually trying to understand the mechanics, and after watching this video and doing a couple of dungeons, its super unfortunate how most people don't really care about playing as a team and will just sort of rush out and do whatever... Still haven't figured out what the best way to find an actual team was, a faction? A house? Guild? Company? Writing this before checking if you already have a video on that, but if you have one you'd recommend, would love to hear it. @@boranis I actually have the same issue to be honest, I want to try to run more content with a more organised group because random grouping is so chaotic, even if you know what to do it can be hard to perform well because other players can impact how good you can Tank in New World

Hi, new player here. I'm aiming at tanking and currently im running warhammer/greataxe with spear for bosses, and i'm wondering why greataxe is not a good tanking weapon (because no one uses it in the videos im seeing) I'm even planning on going Sword and shield with greataxe because i really like pulling everyone together before my combos. Toughts on that please

S/S has nothing to do with being a beginner and everything to do with ultimate tankiness. If your sole premise is to be a tank go S/S with a tower shield with the secondary being interchangeable.

Hard pass. Only needed the first 46 seconds to come to that conclusion. Tanking shouldn't be this arduous. I have yet to see an action MMO whose tanking isn't complete garbage, including ESO.

Action combat is not for everyone and that’s ok. I personally quite like it with the full control I have over my character without needing a specific skill to block, a skill to dodge, a skill to interrupt, a skill I need to time specifically for damage mitigation on a mechanic I might not yet know, it’s just individual preference

Tanking actually feels intuitive in action combat imo. WoW is just "spam the aoe and occasionally taunt to tank swap"

@@BasedChadman do not compare this to tanking in wow 😂. Although I have nothing against tanking in new world, it doesn’t hold a candle to tanking high keys in wow. Only 6 skills to press, compared to wows 12-15 skills/cds to keep in mind. Not a single cast/ability to interrupt/stun. Tanking m10s in new world is cake walk compared to tanking a 20+ key in wow.

The downside of tanking in New World is the movement. The movement is very janky some times and the animation sucks to.
