Hey Andertons, a little suggestion for a video, what about a consistency showdown? Let's compare 2 or 3 same models of guitar from different manufacturers to see if there are differences and inconsistencies between them. For example two 50's les pauls, two 57 strats, 2 d35 martin etc. And let's see if you have the guarantee that when you order a certain guitar it sounds as good as any other one from the same batch

Watched this video a few times. I noticed this time Pete said concerning the Dirty Little Secret that all pedals should start at 12 o'clock. Wrong again! Howard from Catalinbread set up the eq just like a real Marshall Super Lead and Super Bass. You need to turn up the treble and mids and turn down the bass which Lee never did. Just ask Robin Trower. He dimes the treble and mids and turns the bass all the way off. Pete also said it doesn't sound like a Plexi. Wrong once again. I'm 65 years old and have been playing Marshalls and Fenders all my life since I was a child. The DLS is the most realistic Plexi on this board. You need to dial it in and also adjust the presence inside the pedal. I will say the Glove is awesome for the price. I love Lee and Pete's videos. They are a lot of fun and very entertaining and informative. I think they just should have done some research on these pedals first. They also missed the mark with the JHS Charlie Brown. It's not meant to be as high gain as the rest. It's based an an early 1960's JTM 45 which is much lower gain.

Pete got used to that tint high end sound and when he got to the two best pedal's... IMO... he was well past the sound to find. The Catalinbread, and the JHS are my favorites... and Pete didn't want anything to do with them. Interesting how that turned out. The mid control on the JHS and Cat was the wrench in the gear. Mid's were taking the tone away that was expected and fattening it past the desire.

Enjoyable video none the less though :)
@sercastamere9853 Жыл бұрын
The pedals will get a different amp closish to the plexi sound and will give you a good sound on their own, so live it will do just fine. But as far as getting close to the original? Not even. The original sound is also a 4x12 cab with certain speakers in it and the volume, then put thru mics and attenuated in a sense on the final track balanced with all the other elements of a song. However, if you have a Marsall or similar amp already with these pedals they will perform much better.

@@WyattBrown377 Sure. I have three different sized boards so, two v2 Duellist, Friedman Dirty Shirley, Small Box, OCD v1.4, Bogner Red, two Archer (Jeff mods) and Tumnus mini. Use the klones to boost solos.

If you're in a budget, you can't go wrong with EHX! Great pedals overall!

One takeaway from this is that the Strymon is ridiculously overpriced.

I got an OD Glove for Christmas so I’m delighted to hear Pete’s tones through it :)

On youtube you can clearly hear the differences in the last swapping, except that when Lee switches from SL drive to Riverside the sound actually didn't change at all. That was mind blowing.

Ramble Fx Marvel V3 is what has made it to my main board. I have played all of these and currently still have 4 of these on this list, none of them compare to my Marvel V3.

When I heard the od glove sound like the strymon, I was glad I bought the EHX product for a fraction of the price!

Lol that face Lee made when he said "I'm reducing gain to 9pm." hahaha

I have the DLS. It has a super lead and superbass switch inside the unit that can be toggled. I suspect the Superbass is toggled on this unit. I set mine on super lead and the sound is not muffled on either my Strat or LP.. Strat-wise, it's totally Richie Blackmore tone. I've played my P90 equipped 330 with this unit and it's Machine Head all the way. I didn't hear any reference to the internal dip switch settings. Just saying....

And turning all of the knobs to 12 doesn't do the DLS justice.

Guitar pedals are like craft beer. There are thousands of boutique companies with lots of weird takes on styles, crazy artwork, whale-chasing and extortionate prices...and so much of the best stuff is still just a couple of the big original names that put out constant quality, do everything well and hold up against even the most creative and sought-after specialty names. What I'm saying is that EHX is like Anchor Steam Brewing.
No Keeley El Dorado, JHS Angry Charly, Victory VX Scheriff or Bogner La Grange ?! Best plexi in a pedal IMO 😉
@davidburke21323 жыл бұрын
They did pick the wrong JHS. The Charlie Brown is aimed at JTM45 Marshall style tones (so no wonder it was lower gain in this company). However the Angry Charlie is usually considered to be more a JCM800 type Marshall sound... so the other side of Plexi in gain terms. I suspect it would have been closer though in this company.

Great shootout! And love the fact the Glove won as it sounds great for such a cheap price that’s why I’ve had one on my board for few years, admittedly you have more control functionally on the Strymon but it’s a huge price difference for a very minimal sound difference. Well done Pete.

You should ask « how much would you pay for or what is the price » after the first try. You will have easily your ranking. It will be funny and easier for the blindfold person to make the rank,

OD market is a scam. All pedals market is a scam. Buy a Boss BD2 and an Ibanez tube screamer and you have them all. You can achieve any OD sound. All we buy is overpriced colored boxes. That’s it.
