Hey guys , apologies in advance if this is a really easy fix. I'm really new to AE (2 weeks in) and I'm struggling a little bit with this effect and could do with a bit of advice. Which layer do i use to map out the saber lines over the windows, wheels etc? When I put the mask on the solid layer, the mask just lights up over the areas I've masked and the moving saber line doesn't change and still goes over the windows? I know I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure out what

You are way too fast and bad at explaining stuff, I couldn't do the hue and saturation on just the car so I roto scoped a duplicate layer then added the effect, what about people who are just beginners?

Sorry about that but this effect is quite advanced as you need to have some prior knowledge of AE

That's a problem lots of people like me think after effects is all about these cool glowing stuff so they watch and try to make something similar, if I was a total beginner and somehow I could make the same thing after watching this video I would subscribe and watch more. @@austeregaming3085 well if you are a total beginner like you never used: Photoshop,illustrator or even premiere pro everything i say might not makes sense and you might curse me for that 😂 its gonna be a loong reply... its mostly about keyframing the mask to hide and add stuff your way, create 2 layers of the same video first and leave the bottom layer as is, next you gotta work with the second layer or everything you do will be covered under the second layer, make sure you learn "how to rotoscope" rotoscope the car from second layer or (the layer above everything) so when you add the tint effect to change the color of the rotoscoped car the background wont be effected, after that it'll take time to animate the mask but you'll get there, make sure you add mask to the second layer not the first

Tricky one but I think it can still work, you may need to use lumetri colour and the colour wheels to add tint to the shadows highlights and mid tones until you get the right colour
