Huge test to see which robot can get the job done! Long video but lots of good info if you are deciding on which one to get.

Yes, Once again this is an extreme test! People have been asking for this. If one can get it done then the other should be able to as well. (If it is a good robot) Some people comment saying its a stupid useless test. Well a few of my robots can complete this test. Please like and subscribe!

I agree that the shark iq should, but comparing the roomba i7+ which is twice as expensive as the shark iq is an unfair comparison and its unreasonable to expect the same level of performance imo. Its like comparing a 500 dollar phone to a 1000 dollar phone, two different ball games imo.

I get your argument. It should have a bin sensor to help it in situations like this. However... almost no one will let a robot clean up a mess like this. These robots are meant to maintain your floors on a day to day basis. If the Shark empties its bin every time it docks and keeps your floor neat and tidy, what’s the issue?
@xPaulRulesTheWorldx

Agreed. When I got my roomba 960 it filled the bin twice the first few cleaning cycles, after that it would last 3-4 days (daily cleaning because of cat and dog). For home use it should be just fine :)

So far so good with this vacuum. kzbin.infoUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.

Went from a roomba 980 to this shark. The Shark works way better, empties the bin when full and carries on cleaning, sometimes 2 or 3 times per daily cleaning. It must have a sensor? I have several large birds that scatter food and pieces of wood around the cages and this has been less problematic than the roomba and kept things noticeably cleaner. Hair used to destroy the brush rollers on the 980, shark doesn't collect hair. I've owned roombas since the early series ( owned 5 of them in the last 7 years ) and the shark is the best robot yet. Also no bags to buy, and a quarter of the price.

We have a 980 the only issues we really have with it were inadvertently caused by us. The short version is we killed its wifi so the app doesn't work and it doesn't navigate as well. We're getting the i7 but we're going to let the 980 run out in the garage on demand until it dies.

@@TheHailstorm77 In his other video it tried to self empty but not until it was so full it errored out on the way. Other reviewers have stated that the i7 and s9 are the only robots with full bin sensors. The other robots either use a timer or an algorithm. Does that matter in day-to-day cleaning? I suppose it depends on how big or dirty your house is. I'd say in most cases not much. Also, why would that setting be off by default if it comes with an emptying bin? That's kind of stupid.

@SirSteveFury
@SirSteveFury 4 жыл бұрын
Both the units could not complete the task without your intervention plus the Roomba malfunctioned several times(indicator ight malfunctions,bag problems,jammed hair wrapped rollers and debris backups). You discredit the shark because it wont do the extreme unrealistic test even though both failed. If you scatter 1/2 inch bolts around will the Roomba clean them up? If not then the Roomba is junk using your own logic. A real test would be to start each unit and see if they can complete the task without you having to tinker with them. Bottom line is they both failed.
@robovaccollector
@robovaccollector 3 жыл бұрын
You're right, but this is unrealistic test, and he mainly wanted to test the self emptying docks, not the robots. And really, Shark IQ is garbage. It can't even map the entire house after 30 cycles 🤦‍♂️ Just look at the price of it, price says everything. Also, btw, I was trying simillar test in my garage with my old Roomba 555 and it picked up all of the mess, small nails, workshop dust, leaves, long hair, some other dirt, with just 3x cleaning the bin, because it was full. AeroForce is system made especially for dust, crumbs, or some smaller cereal, old iRobot dual brush system cleaning heads picked up everything, and even some smaller LEGO bricks!
@SirSteveFury
@SirSteveFury 3 жыл бұрын
Well we've had our Shark for almost 10 months and its done very well. It had mapped the house after its second use. It picks up the normal things I'd expect it to. We have a Great Pyrenees dog. If the floor isn't vacuumed every other day then the hair clumps in clouds everywhere especially in the corners. If the bin is full then it returns to base for an empty, then continues on its task without intervention. Let me do an analogy. I could go to a vehicle dealership and buy a $140,000 2 ton truck when the only thing I'm ever going to haul is myself and a dog. The big truck can haul gravel, a 5th wheel gooseneck trailer loaded with farm products or heavy cars and other very heavy things. -But if the truck isn't ever going to be used for that utility then its a huge waste of money. Better to spend $28K on a nice 1/4 ton truck and pocket the $112,000 savings. Is the 1/4T truck really "junk"? If the heavy utility isn't needed then the a junk statement would be misleading and untrue. Since I'm not going to be cleaning up chunks of cement, nuts n bolts, bits of brick or sizeable splintered wood fragments from my household hardwood and carpeted floors then spending twice the amount for one of the most expensive model produced just doesn't make any sense. That's pretty much what these tests have confirmed.

It only errored twice to the point it stopped and one was the bag being full. Is that even really an error? He states it's unrealistic most stress tests are. He could've tried longer with the shark but as overfull as it was I don't think there was a point. I watched the other test he referred to in this video(with the pasta) where he let it try longer. In that test it did try to self empty but apparently too late and would get the same error only when he turned it over there wasn't a bunch of crap under it the bin was just full so apparently, it thought it couldn't move. I have a 980 that I don't recall ever stopping because of a full bin. I've actually wondered why it would keep going. I'm not sure if that's a good thing but we've had it a long time and it's still going soo...

A sensor would add unnecessary cost and complexity. The thing is designed to clean your house everyday so your floors will never be dirty enough to fill the tray. Why build something that's able to suck up an ocean when you only need a glass. Events that happen maybe once every couple of years like spilling an entire box of cereal should be cleaned up immediately by a human. The robot handles the monotony of day to day cleaning without any human intervention and as an owner im greatly satisfied.

Heck, unless mine is on full blast, it misses little pieces of kitty litter. Other then the full tank sensor, their mapping app is a waste of screen space. I don't think it's an unfair test at all. I agree with you. The Shark IQ IMO w/o the empty bin should be selling for under $200 at Big Lots. And negative ghostrider, those updates didn't do poo. Last one, in 2022, didn't help or do anything. And even after 20+ runs, it still doesn't have the right map layout of my home. As far as the iRobot, I have a scooba Gen2. Not a fan of it's non-mapping ability but it cleans the hardwood floor well enough. THe ONLY issue I see with the iRobot is, the side brushes spin TOO fast. Throws more then it picks up.

WTH with the magnet strips? I like the no go zone with iRobot. The only concern I have with no go zones is a few areas that I am afraid the robots will knock over something. *11-30 practice runs???! I guess that's no big deal. I can do the runs while I am not home. Advice? *I have one area that has longer carpet - not 70s shag long but longer than not....Will it work? *Is suffering through mapping and lost wifi worth it?

When I run my IQ+ robot as a pollen, dust, pet hair cleaner on a daily basis, most I get is a baseball card wad of hair & debris inside the base's dust bin. You ask too much from this budget robot, I like mine with the Oct 2019 firmware, but the latest 2.3.4 (1063) dropped battery % display, which was useful. As a big job cleanup device, this robot isn't it, correct. But seriously, all these robots take so long to clean I would never give a large cleanup task to robot. The $499 price was right in the market, even with i7+ down to $799. Mine used to appear to empty at 50% battery charge, around 30 minutes of cleaning.

I think only the top line Roomba models have a sensor that detects if the bin is full or not. For the money I think most won't miss that feature seeing as it's unlikely that the vacuum would fill itself prior to completing a cleaning run, so I disagree with you, unless of coarse the fore mentioned feature could be implemented without increasing the cost at all. My problem with the shark is that the docking bin doesn't use bags which means exposing yourself to the dust that was vacuumed every time you empty the bin. Deebot T8+ get my vote because it's arguably better at finding it's way around a house than the i7 and while it lacks the bin sensor, it's dock does use bags so no dust issue. Those are twice as much as the shark but navigate better are still less than half the price of the i7.

RailgunCat Puff So I had a similar problem with the Shark IQ and large messes like this. The Shark does not have a dirt detection or dirt bin full sensor so the robot does not know when to return to the dock and empty itself. There is a feature in the app called Evacuate and Resume which is a timer based function, so basically the robot will go out for about 30 minutes than return to the dock to empty it self and resume where it left off. During my testing I noticed the robot only did this once covering my 2,800 sq-ft main level.

Not really. The ONLY real reason the i7 can do this job is because of the built in dirt sensor. Shark wanted to cut cost and not have that and that's why it failed.

What is the point of spending $1000+ for a robo vac that might (will?) require your attention?? But an even a simpler question.... how long it would have taken you to clean this room with a hand held vacuum like a Dyson???

since buying it I've only needed to touch the thing twice. Both times was because it sucked up something large like a sock. It keeps my floors pristine and the thing feels like I have my own personal cleaning maid. I noticed it misses a couple of particulates on each run, but because it cleans everyday it is always able to pick up everything eventually.

I tried this vac just recently and threw all kinds of crap at it and it would empty itself when it was full. Only on occasion did I have to tend to it. It fails in the feature catagory. When u choose a suction mode it doesn’t remember it for its next cleaning cycle it resets to normal power thus defeating the point of me not having to chase after it. The features it does have that the roombas have are just not as polished. I really wanted to love this because it saved $ ob being bagless oh well of to design a bin for my Roomba self empty that I can reuse

I think that you should have given the Shark a fair chance because there was a lot more pasta on the floor and I would have liked to have seen if the Roomba i7 could have picked up that much pasta without getting jammed.. because it did also jam in the beginning without even picking up as much pasta as the Shark iQ did.

It was an extreme test, he even said so himself. People want to see how these things handle a lot of debris. While normally no you would never use it for this much, and got for a shop vac or a broom , its good to see what is and isn't good in the end. You now know Shark doesn't have a sensor in its dust bin. The one thing I do however like about Shark's has the slow edge cleaning brushes, and that it has 2 edge cleaners over Roomba's 1 and fast spinning. Roomba flicks things around often where the slow brushes have less chance to toss things around. In the end the test proves that you pay more for Roomba, but you do get quality.

It is not an extreme test, it is an idiot of a test, using a product to attempt something it was not designed for, then crying about its performance. Good for rumba, it did better, and cost how much more? My Shark IQ works fine and does a great job after completing the mapping process, ......... but I use mine for its intended purpose. This silly “Extreme Testing” is a huge misrepresentation!

I watched this video and looked at it as over kill of this robot, even with the commentary. I have purchased this product and am awaiting delivery. I don't see this being an issue for me in that I live in a 850 square food condo, not in a construction site. My space is two bed rooms, kitchen, living room and dinning room. a complete cleaning won't fill the the internal storage and when it docks after cleaning will void the contents of this cleaning. It looks like Roomba i7 had similar issues. This video was not a decision maker for me.
