There are a few problems with the 70 series. The low hanging leaf spring hangers get caught up in mud bogs. The little suspension flex you get out of it means wheels will lift all the time. So without diff locks front and rear you're going to be spinning out. Also the alternator is low down so it gets flooded in water crossings. Other than that tho they are great.
@issimonete4 жыл бұрын
Agreed, also the rear wheel track is 100mm narrower than the front wheel track. Pure laziness. Would prefer front mount intercooler over top mount but thats a personal preference. The snorkel should also be a single piece instead of the heap that it comes with. For the money it’s way overpriced but is currently the toughest solid axle 4wd you can buy. I like how basic it is but it should be cheaper and fix the major design flaws. People keep buying them so Toyota don’t care.

@@anugrahcahya5964 Sorry mate I don’t know too much about the Prado.
@abdulmuhaimin2321 Жыл бұрын
@@anugrahcahya5964 the 90 is an absolutely wonderfull vehicle. I dont know of you have the kzj 90 or the vzj90 but both are great. If you have the kzj take care of that electronic diesel pump and change it out for a mechanical one if it ever gets faulty. Also put an intercooler on if there isnt one and improve the exhaust piping and make it less restrictive. If its a petrol you dont need to do anything maybe just have a look at the fuel pumps pressire should be around 55 psi. Do look at the ball joints as they are prone to failure. Put a snorkel on then if they dont have one. If big animals are not an issue then dont put a bullbar as it does increase the weight of the front end. All prados have rear lsd but sonetimes they get swapped out for open diffs, do check if yours has the lsd as those diffs do make a huge difference in handling especially over curvy mountain roads at speed. Greating from the other home of the land cruiser, Pakistan.

Best option is to get service companies in the US (Mining, heavy duty, Agriculture) to special order fleets of these. The only reason we get these great vehicles in Aus is due to industry demand. Is very nice to see your review and having so much fun but I have to tell you and your audience. In Japan this model (2014/2015 only) is the 30th anniversary of the 70 series and it does not have the diesel V8 engine. It does come with a V6 4000cc that only runs on premium gasoline and unfortunately gives you about 4-5km per liter so it does sucks for fuel consumption but when it comes to speed I can’t actually exactly tell you about the specific timing to 100km/h but I’m positive that it won’t take more than 10 secs. I’ll double check on that and I’ll will edit my comment later ;) any ways they do last for ever and yes indeed there is a very strong reason about why this LC70’s are the most sold vehicles in the countries with the most rough off road scenarios. Best regards and thank you for your video

Its entry price is quite high considering the built-in technology and overall platform are 40+ years old but if you see it from the point of view that you will only have to buy one in a lifetime then is not expensive at all. I just bought a Nissan patrol, which has a new recon engine. Still seriously thinking about buying a used 76 series - 360,000km same engine not sure if it's worth it. Please help
@RossReviewsau3 жыл бұрын
all comes down to price and condition man.. these 76 series tho are near on bullet proof not uncommon to see 300,000km on them..

you need to love it before you buy it, otherwise you might be disappointed. I love it.

Love the 76's but those v8 turbo diesels are not as reliable as the 1HD FTE. 100 series diesel's have kept their value. They look and sound tough as nails though!!

fair call we dont get the 6 here in aus.. gotta love that V8 sound tho

@RossReviewsau I'm sure you feel more connected to it when driving it rather than the electronics doing almost all the work for you🔥

Buying one of these from new, expect to pay at least an extra 15 to 20% on modifications to get it “up to scratch”.

Name any car that drives out of the lot up to scratch?
@Phil_McAvity4 жыл бұрын
Charlie Aydin I was more referring to the rear wheel track, handbrake, cup holders, wobbly windows.... etc, not tyres & lift etc .
@charlieaydin13774 жыл бұрын
@@Phil_McAvity that seems fair. Most are fixed fairly easily. Offset rims corrects the track issue Nobody buys a 70 series for the creature comforts...
@RobertKoflerWien3 жыл бұрын
very well done! you just feel it how much fun this car will make!

Honestly favorite video would of been the bagged VX clubby review. Nothing sexier than a bagged VX. Also the cruiser review was extremely interesting even though i'm not that into cruisers.

thanks man! yes i really loved that VX! the cruiser was good too.. felt like a nice change in pace
