I had hemorrhoid surgery when I was 15, that's 55 years ago. I walked into a health clinic, the nurse saw my rear end covered in blood and took me into the little office. Doc came in took a quick look, and proceeded to cut the hemorrhoid out, stitching the blood vessel to stem the bleeding. No pain killers through the procedure, just sweat running off my forehead hitting the floor below me (of course I was face down, bent over the examination table) The doc gave me some Tylenol 3's, and I walked home, 3 miles. Before leaving the nurse gave me a large white towel to wrap around my backside, and a small towel to wipe the sweat off my forehead. To this day I don't know why I didn't pass out. Ever since then, I have had two boxes of bran buds in my pantry, and eat lots of roughage. I've never had a hemorrhoid since, and don't plan on getting another one. I'm 70 now, have passed kidney stones, have had two hernia operations. No pain is worse than the hemorrhoid operation, not even hitting your finger with a hammer.

Yes, I have almost the same story. In 2005 I had a cluster of 3 externals, I had a real hag of a nurse that when she went to freeze then threw the needle in as if it was a dart board, I kicked her so hard she went right through the drywall, 3 Doctors come running over (this happened in our small town medical clinic) only to learn what caused all this calamity. Once everything settled down Dr. Myburg gently refroze the hemorrhoids, cut then open only to find severe clotting

Everyone experiences these things differently, I had a torn Achilles tendon and after waking up from the procedure I took no pain killers. I also had quad bypass surgery and somebody had told me that it was extremely painful but I took no pain killers and found it a walk in the park. The only thing I've ever had done that I thought was painful was 6 weeks after the bypass surgery they needed to stick a tube into the space beneath my left lung to drain some fluid that wasn't going away and I almost vomited as it the tube went between my ribs. Then there's surgery I've done on myself with a scalpel and some iodine to remove some infection. Pain is so personal and a very personal experience.

I sometimes wonder whether they are right about lack of roughage being the issue, I always (well since about 20, almost 70 now) had rolled oats or some other fibrous breakfast serial for breakfast, multi-grain bread for lunch and lightly steamed vegetables with about 160g of protein for dinner and yet I have developed haemorrhoids that since my 40's were swollen and have been bleeding for about 6 months, so I think there's a different number somewhere in the equation they don't know about.

Greatly informative video! In the late 90's, I had laser surgery on my rectum (the outer area only),to remove what I thought the Dr. referred to them as "skin tabs"(?), but not the typical painless skintabs on ppl's neck&arms. These started from straining or rushing things along,(if I remember correctly).B4 my surgery, it became too painful to sit down. I tried hemorrhoid products,&suppositories,spraying warm water on my bottom with a spray bottle instead of wiping with toilet paper. I even resorted to the unthinkable of "doing a poop" in a tub of warm water,bc it didnt hurt in warm water. Eventually I was referred to a specialist who performed the laser surgery,while I was awake😳.The pain afterwards was mild,&only for that day. I was scared to poop for the first time a couple days following surgery,but to my surprise; no pain at all!! & everything looked normal in the area. Since the ,Ive used wetwipes occasionally,but Ive developed 3 rectal/anal problems over ther the past 6 months or more,but I dont have insurance,so its just a part of my everyday life now. Are there any books or websites that I can read up on my current symptoms to see what might be the culprit for my 3 different issues that I struggle with on a regular basis?? Thank you for reading my long comment.😌

Hemorrhoids can be debilitating, ask me how I know. I had the gambit of treatment and the only thing that ever (at least to now) relieved my internal ones was after a colorectal surgeon cauterized them. Bands never really worked well or at all. Thank goodness a retired military colorectal surgeon was working at a close by military treatment facility who finally took that step and it worked, at least for me...about 5 years now without symptoms. The real key is to keep your stools soft with Miralax, stool softeners, fiber mixed into a liquid drink etc.Thanks docs as usual!
@DIDYOUSEETHAT1729 ай бұрын
Nope Miralax, stool softeners are poison, mess with the internals. figs do a better job loaded with nutrients. potassium, magnesium, iron, calcium, and also stabilize blood sugars. (That from a colorectal surgeon, not me). Colonoscope he looked around, told me what I was taking just by the color of the colon walls, and told me to stop taking everything you just said to take. HIs prescription, 1 to 2 tbls psyllium husk 3 times a day, before meals, mixed baby green salads spinach , kale, arugala, so on, legumes, figs, apple cider vinegar, seeds, nuts, romaine lettuce. Magnesium citrate. grind flax seed, 4 table spoons a day, 10 glasses of water each day, on top of any other 'drinks' such as coffee.

I know by my own experience that changing to a very low carb diet, even with low fibre, can also cure severe constipation and incipient hemorrhoids. For years I was eating an obsessively "healthy" Mediterranean-style diet. Low fat, high fruit, vegetables, often organic. I suffered terrible constipation, also reflux. In late 2017 I found out my blood sugar was too high and changed to a low carb diet. Gradually, both constipation and reflux have completely healed, regardless of how much fibre I ingest. Other people eating low carb say the same. Now I just need to throw out all those unused suppositories and indigestion pills. You probably don't believe me, but try it and you may be surprised.
@annbolen60517 ай бұрын
Thank you! I was wondering if anyone could comment on healthy low carb diet as a treatment for this problem. I’m doubtful that the fiber suggested will help as much as just softening the stool with fats in diet.

I’ve got lots of issues with my guts, internal hemorrhoids being one of them. Bleeding, leakage, itching…all the things. Since I got a bidet, all that has completely resolved. Also, unsedated sigmoidoscopy? No thanks! Been there, done that. It hurts.

Hello doctors, could you please make a video about tea sweeteners? there have been some talking about having tea sweeteners in any food or drink in the UK, saying that tea sweeteners cause more harm than good if you are diabetic, they even say it could cause cancer, that would be appreciated, all the best.

Some times when I have bleeding I find that eating a lot of nuts (like peanuts) will rip the hemroid apart and tear it off, (pain freeas it's only a blown out blood vessel). This makes it bleed like grazy but when it heals it's all good.

If you have a hemorrhoidectomy; your best friends will be fiber, laxative, sitz bath, and pain meds. The pain isn't worse than a kidney stone, but the location elevates the pain+anxiety.

FIBER, FIBER, FIBER! Eat it. And, keep eating it! Also very important is MAGNESIUM CITRATE (400mg). It pulls water into the stool. And, your muscles love it.

A friend of Benjamin Franklin named Colinson popularized the use of a root now referred to as Collinsonia root which worked very well for me. Apologies for not making a yacht payment to these surgeons who studiously avoid any knowledge of traditional non invasive remedies. I rarely use it after losing all of my excess body fat by implementing Dr Bergs keto diet. This condition is not a natural part of aging but the result of following a modern lifestyle with poor diet.

I don't want to get to personal but I am in a very bad spot. My gallbladder stopped working in 1998, it was 2016 before it was found out that it was my gallbladder, and it was removed. I have developed hemorrhoids so severe I can not go to the rest room and much take laxative to be able to pass stools. I am so scared to go to the doctor, I'm talking sheer fear, because I don't want a surgery. TBH I don't feel like I will survive it. Any advice from anyone? Thanks you so much.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone! I am convinced having my gallbladder removed is what destroyed my gut and caused severe hemorrhoids as well. I have surgery scheduled in 2 weeks. I’m terrified of the recovery process as well, but I cannot go on like this anymore so I have to have it done. I’ve been dealing with bleeding painful grade 3 hemorrhoids and anal fissure for 10-12 years now. Quality of life has diminished significantly and surgery is my only hope. So here I am watching all the videos and reading people’s comments so that I can be mentally prepared. I wish you the best in your journey and want to encourage you to just have the surgery if you need it. Everyone survives, and most say that it was worth it in the end to get their lives back.

@@1901italianviolin Thank you so much for the comment. I hope and pray your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery. I know you will have a lot on your plate but if you could, in the future, please comment how you are doing. God Bless you.

Hey! I’m 12 days post op now and doing great! Honestly it’s been so much better than I expected. I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner. The first 4 days were pretty painful but it was completely manageable with pain meds. Day 5 and on has been great for the most part. Still healing of course, but just wanted to check back in and let you know it was as horrible as I thought it would be. 😆

Hello Doctors, My aunt is going to have surgery done about hemorrhoids to be removed. I have just sent her Collinsonia, Stone roots chopped her to make a Tea out of it. Her problem is that her stomach also is in pain, even water is hurting her stomach and she can not eat greens or vegetables. Even little acidity in food is causing excruciating pain in her stomach and as we know without hydrochloric acid we can not digest food. So pain in stomach and pain caused by hemorrhoids made her life unbearable. My guess is that low hydrochloric acid also caused mucus liner to wear out. Anyway, I have no idea how to restore her stomach problem as without proper digestion and constipations hemorrhoids even after surgery can reoccur again. In 10 days she will get Collinsonia roots, but any idea how to restore her stomach which can not take even blended greens with apple and even water which also hurts her stomach? Thank you so much for amazing video!

This topic does need to be normalized, so much thanks for this video. While some great tips were mentioned in this vid: More fiber, fruits/veggies & liquid/water intake, don't strain etc..., there's one item that either wasn't mentioned or I missed. Given our current societal dependence on tech... when you go do your business, LEAVE YOUR PHONE BEHIND! (no pun intended), aka don't read. Try to limit your 'session' to 10 mins, preferably less. It may feel you're not completely 'empty' when the time's up but that could be the internal/enlarged hemorrhoids at play. Even if you do need to go again a little later, the trick is to limit the time. This has helped me and I've noticed much improvement with these 'pain in the butt' (sorry, couldn't resist) issues. It may not be a cure-all (and I'm def not a doctor), but try this tip along with the others presented in this vid and see if that helps some - it has for me.

You shared and talked about many issues. It’s kinda of difficult to decide whether one should proceed with the stapling surgery or just live with haemorrhoids! Seems there are more cons than pros going for whichever procedure!

I did the banding .. I can’t believe that was the easiest option.. every time I had to go was like horrific… ended up in the ER twice cuz I was freaking out.. so here I am AGAIN 🙄 .. not looking forward to this situation.. if the hemorrhoid removal is worse I don’t think I’m going to make it..😢.. I am soooooooo careful with diet and bathroom habits after the last time … I guess it’s the weightlifting .. I just don’t want to have to give that up..

I haven’t had surgery yet but I am having bleeding. I am 59 and for about the past 4-5 bowl moments I’ve encountered blood outside the poop as it comes out. I even see blood squirt out anus as I feel the urge to poop more but realize I’m finished. I’ve been drinking protein shakes as well as biweekly Miralax in my drink of milk thinking it’s going to take 2-3 days for the tissue lining to repair before the next poop. I insert suppositories daily to help clean and ease the poop flow. I’m really afraid to eat much as I wait for the tissue to repair because every Holiday I seem to eat too much and set off the symptoms again

I just had a hemorrhoidectomy two days ago and I still haven’t gone to the bathroom. I have been laying on my side since the surgery two days ago. What do I do???should I just give my body some time to heal 🤷🏼♀️ I was thinking it I don’t go by tomorrow night I’m going to get some milk of magnesium to help me. That always seems to help. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong
