After loading the game I used to open the cd rom and remove it without shutting down. Then I’d insert my stone temple pilots cd and play that while playing Ys book 1 & 2. The system would let you know when to insert the disc to load up the next part of the game.

I was one of those rare people that mail ordered the Super CD card back in the day. Also had a mom and pop videogame store that had a few notable PC Engine games like SF2 CE and Dracula X where I got them. PC Engine Hucard converters are hard to find these days too, but I also have one.

Nice! That would have been very cool to have back in the day.

Just found this channel and ecstatic to go through the hours of content. I'm one of the few eventually preferred the PC Engine/TurboGrafx16 over the competition and naturally purchased a TurboDuo that I ended up recapping and modded w/ RGB. Beautiful console and great looking games. Keep up the great work, loved this video!

I got my Duo in 1992. They sent me the five games plus Blazing Lasers, Splash Lake, and Final Lap Twin. I remember the"coupons" were pretty much useless, since no stores would honor them. Still a good buy! Thanks for the great video!

Very cool! Interesting about the coupons.

Good content as always ! The TurboGrafx16 TurboDuo was one of my dream gaming consoles as a kid. That and the Neo-Geo were God tier consoles that only rich kids had. Me and my friends could only look at gaming magazines and store kiosks and dream of having one of these awesome machines to play at home.

I love the Turbo Duo, it just needed a few mainstream games to help gain some attention.

I've want to buy one for a few years. My hesitation cost me, as they're pretty expensive today. I hear the Analog is making a Duo for around $200. Take my money! I never knew that there was an interface to make use of the Duo's CD drive for DOS! I think I bought my first PC CD-ROM around that time frame. I wish I knew then what I know now. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Thanks @Jet Screamer! Yeah, that was shocking to find out for me as well. I didn't get a PC-CD until around 1996. Then again, that was when my family got their first computer. Didn't get the internet until 1999...ah...how did I ever live like that. 😂

I purchased my turbo duo in the box complete with all the bonus games at a yard sale two years ago. I paid 500.00 for it. I thought that was a good deal because in the box Turbo Duo consoles have sold for 1200.00 or more on eBay.

Another great video. I love all things Turbo though I didn't get mine at launch. I got my t16 in 91? 92? When they were clearing out stock for the upcoming duo. I paid 59.99 for my t16 new in box! Since I have aquired the cd player for it along with the arcade card. I never bought a duo as there was no need. I did eventually aquire a Super Grafx and Turbo Express though. The idea of the duo is sound but as you said, some bonehead decisions were made while doing it. The controller incompatibly being one. Cheap capacitors being another.lol unfortunately it was outclassed by the Sega cd as it came out. I had that back in the day as I was a Sega fan first at the time. But the duo could still provide good gaming and experiences and had one hell of a package deal when released. Sad it didn't do better but I guess it's kinda getting the final laugh as all things Turbo are sky high in price as gamers are drawn in.

Thank you for sharing! Wow, if only I paid anywhere close to that for mine. 🤪 🤑

I purchased a Turbo Duo back in 2003 Online. The package came with the original Turbo Duo box, the game console, a TurboPad with the orange and yellow TG16 face, AV cables for the TV, and a Radio Shack power adapter (I doubt the TurboPad and power adapter were original equipment). The system looked brand new, like it was never used. I bought it online back then, just to be able to play my newly acquired CD copy of Dracula X. I forgot who the online vendor was, that sold me the system tho. Does anyone have a clue as to who was selling these "new old stock" consoles in the early 2000s????

I just took my turbo duo out to play it and it looks like my eject button on the CD side is stuck. Any suggestions on repair?
