Awesome video!!! Few videos go into as much detail as you did. I think CGQ is the only one remotely close in detail and history. I hope you are enjoying exploring the pc engine and turbo histories. They are in my top 3 of retro systems. There are many reasons why it never took off here. Its rather ironic though that it would crawl out of its grave several years later and capture the retro gaming communities attention. So much so that it is very pricey to collect for nowadays. Thankfully I bought most of my stuff in the 90's were they almost gave turbo stuff away.lol not like that any more!!! I look forward to your next part!!! Can't wait!!!

Great video. It was interesting to hear about the history of NEC and Hudson. I didn't know that the brothers almost opened a coffee shop instead of creating Hudson.

I love this! Thank you for the good work. I made a video similar to this a year ago, but I didn’t really explore Hudson or NECs history so much.

This was great video Tyler. It was really cool to watch this video. Way better than the early access video from a couple months ago. See you later. :)

I like how Hudson was named after a locomotive that used to pass by where they lived or worked, and later they went on to buy that exact locomotive. Pretty cool story.

13:52 This model has just *one* controller port. What were NEC thinking?
@akunbuangan29923 жыл бұрын
Probably to make small console and also they think most of games that Japanese player love to play are single player.

The one controller port shocked me when I bought a TG-16 when I was a teen. I have a PC Engine now, and now I understand

I've been looking forward to this series since I found this channel. I watched the whole 8 bit war, which was fantastic, and I've also watched the Genesis, CD, and 32X trifecta, which was also fantastic, but this is the one that I know the least about. I've only gotten into the Turbo about 5 years ago, as it was one of the last consoles I acquired when it comes to buying up every console out there. I only have 14 titles for it, but I've been really impressed with the system. I also have absolutely zero nostalgia about it, and never even played it as a kid. I only even knew about it because a neighbor of my best friend had one, and he talked about it all the time, but we never went to his house, so we really had no idea what we were missing out on, so this will be the first video series I've watched on this channel that I really don't have much knowledge or a background in, other than they were beating Nintendo at one point in Japan, and they have very high quality and a lot amount of shmups. So definitely looking forward to this, as well as whenever you get around to the SNES and comparing them all!! Plus whatever you are going to do with handhelds, as I'm eagerly awaiting that as well. Keep it up man! This is awesome and you really do a great job with your research, presentation and passion for everything. Also, a big thank you for putting videos about cleaning consoles. Today alone I took apart both of my NES systems, both of my SNES systems, and my four N64s, and cleaned the boards as well as the plastic. Definitely a great resource and now my consoles look like brand new!

Fantastic video off to a great start the info on NEC and Hudson soft history very informative an important to the background of the system and I'm definitely glad that you emphasized that this was the first system to go with CD media the show the video game industry the way to go as far as leaving cartridges behind really don't think that's talked about enough got to love the Hu Cards though looking forward 2 part 2 see you in the Stream

I love it...okay, we're either going to open a coffee shop or radio store. That's a very normal pivot that most people generally come to. I bet Starbucks was going for either coffee shops or selling chainsaws. ;) I wanted to address something you said in this video. You asked "Why am I talking about the PC Engine?" There is two great answers for this. The first is, without the PC Engine, the TG-16 wouldn't exist. The second reason is the PC Engine is the stuff dreams are made of. Take it from me a diehard Sega Genesis fan for life, the PC Engine is a worthy machine that has some truly great games. If you're interested in this generation but do not have a ton of money to spend snag a TG-16/PC Engine/Core Grafx Mini and play some of these games you will not be sorry. This was an absolutely fantastic video. One thing, I'm subscribed but I'm not getting notifications and I don't understand what's going on here. This is the second time I have clicked the bell icon so...I don't know.

In the end of 80s this system are neat with awesome games. It's in Europe less known than NES and Master System. I think there is no problem to catch it for reasonable price. Great video 👍 I'll be waiting for next part.

I found a PC Engine with a CD-ROM and briefcase! $165 shipped! It is coming today. I'll have to print the gear for the CD, but otherwise it works. I've been looking for one of these for close to 10 years, and it just showed up on Facebook Marketplace. It couldn't have been listed that long before I found it. Unless I want to eat ramen this month, I'm going to have to sell my TurboGrafx.

Hey Tyler is this NEC the same ones that made the faulty NEC Token capacitors responsible for the yellow light issue on the phat model PS3?. Also this is a great upload. I love it when people delve into the history of the console itself. Most on YT are strictly game based.

Walter Sobchak That very well could be, I’ll have to do more research on that. 😁 Appreciate the kind words

The PC Engine was so much a better design aesthetically than the TG-16. Same with the Super Famicom vs the SNES. Only Sega got it right that generation with the Mega Drive/Genesis looking killer in all regions. Great video.

The PC Engine succeeded because of its strong brand recognition, cool console design, and good third-party support? That sounds a lot like what Sony would later do with the original PlayStation.

What would you say is the best machine for cd games without the need for system card and all that?
@PlayerOneStart3 жыл бұрын
One of the PC-Engine Duo consoles would probably be best/most economical. The TuroboDuo has been my goto since adding it to my collection.

@@PlayerOneStart Do you know what the difference is between the duo and turbo duo? I just got into the tg16 after repairing a briefcase model and am learning about the system cards. I can play 2.0 cds with my old ever drive but not the 3.0. So many accessories so much to learn

@Alfie’s Games, the Turbo Duo is the US model. The Pc Engine Duo is the Japanese region model.
