season 4 was sooo bad and was just soooo wrong😭😭 i loved luther and diego this season cause i had a blast with them and of course klaus is always fun even allison was good this season (much better than s3) and viktor had one of the only good arcs of all the characters. five and lila were the low low low points of the season which is so weird for this show cause especially five has usually been the best character every season…. the best season was definitely season 2 though!

It was great the see them all again, and I LOVED the last episode, bitter sweet. Hollywood can't write anything good at the moment. Woke, politics, inserting yourself in the movies, representation, writers wanting to be lead writers NOW, all workers infected with DEI and ESG (cameraman, directors, stunts, actors, ALL TRADES have been infected and competency rooted out of production to follow DEI rules and mark checkboxes) I particularly hated how men where naked and VERY DUMB. Hargave = dumb as whole, moon monkey = naked and dumb, knife man = hyper dumb and cocked, teleport boy = naïve and dumb, while women where intelligent, strong, solid, and better then men. Even if it was a BAD season, it's the best hollywood can give at the moment and it was bitter sweet to see them one last time. God I love the first two seasons when men AND women where equal.

I hate how the writers ruined Five's character. I personally think it would be better if what split the timeline instead of the whole family, just be Five's initial jump to 2019. This results in Five having to be the one to die to stop the loops of apocalypses allowing the others to live and Five to truly have peace and have a heroic sacrifice.

If the whole shtick is that the UA is wiping themselves from existence and making it so that it was like they were never born to begin with - what *possible*" rationale could there be for Claire and Diego and Lila's kids to be alive? Their parents never existed now, so their existence is an anomaly WAY outside the scope of anything the UA itself ever achieved (which, ironically, is more of a justification for The Cleansing than anything else we get in S4). I literally grew up with TUA and was so excited for this season. It was a letdown, I was so ready to see the siblings be hunted down for being in a timeline they weren't supposed to be. Because that's what the trailers made it look like. The relationship between Lila and Five always seemed like a frienemies, the love relationship felt like seeing 2 siblings kiss. The whole subway train that travels through timelines didn’t have a lot to add to the story, other than making Lila and Five fall in love, which was obviously one of the worst decisions made in this season and very unnecesary. The only other time when this was useful, was when Five went to the café where all the other Fives explained to him what was the actual conflict. That was it.

They could've explained The Clense better since at the end it's kinda just thrown out there that Reggies wife is correcting the timeline since she shouldn't have been brought back or was correcting his biggest error which was creating the super powered kids to do the whole new universe thing.

my biggest gripe, aside from the obvious, is the fact their powers simply do not make sense or follow previously established (or even new) rules, and what powers do have set rules are vastly underutilised - I thought it was so so obvious that Five was gonna use his new interdimensional train to stick Ben and Jessica in different universes without the other particle thingy so that they couldn't come into contact. like... bruh. theres no way their powers were used effectively here. Also. What's up with Allison's powers? She can control minds but also she has telekinesis now becuase... why not? also Lila's laser eyes made no sense and were not used at all. Also who gets the same powers who doesn't? Klaus does... what exactly? not even just with his powers but what's the relevance of his plot pointsin the overall grand scheme? I'm also mad that there's this sort of implicit message in the end where it's all like "so. you know these kids who were neglected and abused? yeah turns out this was all their fault for existing and the only way for things to be right is for them to kill themselves" which is a bit... icky. there's so many ways they could have handled it to have the same outcome in the end but man. this was not it. I did love stripper luther , luther and diego's brolationship and the diner scene with five, but that's about it.

Diego and Luther hanging out, just being bros, was honestly one of the few highlights for me as well. Especially seeing the growth from Diego feeling jealous of Luther being leader. Though the show seems to forget this and instead portray Diego as eager to follow even as a teen. When I seemed to recall him being competitive and more so would’ve been volunteering to get everyone ready and hurt when shot down that that isn’t his position. Idk it’s a highlight but as I typed they kind of ruined it.

Something no one seems to mention is the fact that Luther shouldn’t have got back his ape body back. I think the writers completely forgot that his original body was human and he still had super strength but his body got damaged on a mission so he has his body swapped with a space alien ape thing. A complete seperate thing that has nothing to do with his powers. 😂

There are all the other kids with marigold, and Reginald still existed then so it's weird that them getting absorbed somehow erased all marigold that should still exist before they were born, and if they can't exist then their kids should have the same effect as them still being alive. It doesn't make sense for that not to break time too, and come to think of it, isn't that kind of what happened with the Kugelblitz in season 3, like the paradox of their moms dying caused that apocalypse but here it's just fine. Too much of this season was like that, like if you think about it your brain hurts trying to make it make sense.

One thing that really pissed me off was Allison in episode 3 saying that 'she was tired of being the villain in this family' and none of the family telling her that what she did was fucked up. After all the awful shit Allison did in season 3 like killing Harlan, assaulting/SA'ing Luther and just how awfull she was being in general, it pisses me off so much that Allison acts like she's being treated as a villain for no reason. There was not even an one on one scene with Luther and Allison where she apologises for what she did or even one scene where Allison feels bad for her actions from season 3. She just acts entitled and arrogant still. Like Allison got everything she ever wanted (both Ray and Claire), while her siblings lost a lot (Viktor lost Harlan twice, Luther lost Sloanne, Ben lost the entire Sparrow family, Diego and Lila lost Stan). The only thing we got was Viktor telling Allison they're not friends, but even that went nowhere. I feel like the timeskip fucked any character development and scenes that could have happened as a result of Alison's decisions. It's like the whole family just forgave her off screen or something. I also feel like the Ben and Jennifer incident was also a plothole maybe. We know that Klaus used to talk with the original Ben after he passed. Did Ben never talk about the fact that their own dad killed him? Like I get that the other characters had their memories messed with, but Ben should have still been able to tell klaus what happened to him. Even if Ben didn't know that it was their dad that shot him, he should still remember he suddenly died after saving Jennifer right? I can believe Klaus forgetting, but still.

He was one of the characters who despite his issues, was actually usually caring towards his family. Why they couldn’t just create a new timeline like they did last season is beyond me, especially if Reggie was capable of controlling them. They couldn’t just…delete other ones or find a way to end those ones and create a timeline where everyone got what they deserved? Klaus got Dave, the sparrows and other kids born from marigold got their own happy lives, Diego and Lila got their family including Stan, past characters got their happy ending, Five got a real Delores, umbrella Ben was back (because let’s be real, sparrow Ben SUCKED), and Allison could’ve sacrificed herself for this as a character arc for all the terrible crap she’d done…

Five needs to be driving the plot forward. When he is sidelined, season 3 and 4, everything unravels. I did like that the technology was current once the timeline was cleansed, no longer stuck in the 80's. My remaining questions..What happened to the other kids that were born that day? Why did Ben not tell Klaus his dad shot him when he was a ghost? Why did the timeline reset and Reginald have no memories where the others did? Why was the girl in a squid? Why didn't the wife give Jennifer the Marigold, instead of having the others ingest it again? What did happen to Sloane?

I think in this timeline there was no other marigold beyond what the group found and was presumably a relic from another timeline that Ben then spiked them with so there wouldn't have been others that needed to destroyed along with the main ground, they didn't exist in this timeline. But then this creates a plothole of where the hell Lailas parents came from and why didn't any of others have parents?

Overall I liked the season. I would have changed the ending though. Instead of them non-existing, have them be born at different times without the marigold and have them eventually find each other. Like Luther and Allison are now married and have a daughter named Claire. Have 5 meet a girl named Delores, who happens to be the daughter of the Handler and sister to Lila, who marries Diego. Let Viktor be a star violinist like he always wanted who's best friends with Ben and Jennifer.

I liked season 3 apart from some pacing issues, but the first 2 were definitely better. It wasn’t as great but I still thought season 3 was good, and worth my time. I wasn’t necessarily unsatisfied but I wasn’t touched like I was in the first two seasons. As for season 4…I was unsatisfied, disappointed, and upset for reasons show creators wouldn’t want their viewers to be upset with.

Given the fact that the one-armed Five at the end of season 3 is clearly the Five that founded the commission, I think that we can say that the original Umbrellas died in Hotel Oblivion (apart from Five that somehow jumped away) and this is just a weird spinoff about different characters created with the same memories. Thank you! It felt like the writers were torturing him, it was actually very frustrating to watch. He loses his wife (which is never resolved), he’s a stripper that performs in a costume of what he used to be, he’s squatting in the condemned ruins of his childhood home which is a manifestation of his wasted potential and inability to move on, hes forced back into the body he hated himself for despite it making no sense for him to get the gorilla body back from the marigold, he’s treated as the butt of the joke and a fuckup the entire season, and when he tries to have a heartfelt moment with his family before he dies they just shit all over him. It wasn’t fun to watch, it was painful and just made me feel terrible for the guy. Not once is he given a chance to prove himself as the leader he could’ve been and one of the only scenes we see of him being competent in happens in an elevator off screen lol

So they had to have Luther pick Ben up from jail which clearly should have been Klaus to anyone who watched the first 3 seasons. And then to cover for it, they had to make up some junk about how "Klaus always relies on Allison and Allison loves it because she gets to feel like a hero for being there at his rock bottom." But that never really happened. Other than a bit in season 2, they really didn't even interact much. I think they swapped Klaus and Luther really late in the writing process and couldn't quite write it to make sense.

I think people and reviewers are failing to understand that although with this season’s many plot holes and lack of character development it ultimately due to Netflix not allowing the show runners to not have their usual 10 episodes and only giving us 6. Im grateful Netflix didn’t just cancel the series and gave us some kind of ending/resolution at least but I think it was a huge miss on their part not allowing them to flesh out this season like the previous 3 😢

What we learn this season is the characters of umbrella academy wasn’t dysfunctional. It was truly the writers…. I feel like pushing the season timeline six years into the future was a scapegoat. For the writers not to address important, storylines as a whole. And it makes me feel like they don’t take characters like Diego or Luther seriously as characters. Lila and Allison became almost a crutch from the the ending episodes of season 3 to the entirety of season four for me.

WHY DID THEY END LAST SEASON SHOWING A SECOND BEN ON A TRAIN IN KOREA, AS IF ALL OF THE NON-BRELLIES WERE ALIVE W THEIR REGULAR FAMILIES IN THE RESET (after s3) UNIVERSE? What was the reason?! Also, did all the magic nonbrellies get erased too? Cause there were like 20 more affected by marigold. Seems insane to decide as a group of 8 to permanently erase 20-some people from the life canon lol. Ugh. The thing about season three is that that was the Covid season. So when you consider that they had to stay basically on one small set and make a whole show… It’s kind of impressive that they were able to make it interesting and still pretty good. This year they had no excuse and no reason why it couldn’t be as good as season one and two. The thing about five that annoys me is that it’s like they simply realized he was 65 and never had a love interest and wanted to give him one. Meanwhile, all those years he was working for the commission… They could’ve added in a real person he dated but never mentioned. I don’t get why they didn’t. It’s funny because it didn’t even annoy me that it was with Lila because it’s not unbelievable that if you thought you were never going to see anyone else again you might convince yourself you were romantically interested just to get through the day like she said survival… but it didn’t affect the plot and it was only for two episodes… So it very much felt like they were trying to get us to not care about people in a mostly happy relationship dying (Diego and Lila). Funny thing is I don’t think that’s what they were doing… I think they literally just wanted him to have a love interest. And I don’t get why if that was the only goal they didn’t just write in a character for a couple of episodes that he has a little quick relationship with. They could’ve even had it affect the plot somewhere like maybe she turns on them or something and Five realizes he’s never been in a relationship because it makes you not think clearly or something like that… That would be very five like. Just so annoying to have something that major that literally could be plucked from the plot and wouldn’t change a single thing in the main overall story. You destroyed fives character and broke up a good couple for what? A few kissing scenes? I really don’t get it

Season 4 truly screwed up the characters..Luke should have had a good character development by finding some resolution to Solan but he stayed being a side character through the season, Klaus had character regression, the only one who had character development/ closure was Victor. He was the only one. I hate what they did to five, Lila, the whole love triangle was pointless, seriously it ruined the 3 characters. Five was so childish despite his age and became a home wrecker.He had so much potential but the direction that they took was terrible.. The first 3 season were far better than this one. Agree. The first four episodes were normal. But in the fifth episode, everything was ruined. This is not our Fifth One, whom we have fallen in love with.... This is a completely different person...💔💔💔💔 Let's compare the Fifth of the first three seasons and the Fifth in the fourth season: 1 Season: He lived in the apocalypse for 45 years and tried to survive in order to return and save his family. 2 Season: He cut down a whole group of people, although he didn't want to, but he had to, he was almost killed himself. And it's all for the family. 3 Season: He was still doing it for the family. There he did not want to stop the apocalypse, because he from the future told him so and the Fifth had to make this decision. This season, he told Laila to stop torturing Diego, because he loves her very much. Conclusion: The fifth, simply put, risked his life for the sake of his family and never gave up, even if it was difficult. He always tried to find a solution. ❤ And what we get in season 4: In episode 5, He just didn't give a damn about the family, decided to leave them, knowing what kind of situation would happen soon. He knows that Laila is his brother's wife and the mother of his nephews kisses her. Then she gets upset that Laila loves Diego. The fact that he spent 7 years with her in another timeline is not an excuse for what he did! He shouldn't have done it at all! He had to motivate Laila by the fact that a loving husband and children were waiting for her at home. He would never allow himself to kiss Lila, thereby hurting his brother. That's what that Fifth One would have done.....💔 For me, in Episode 5, the Fifth is a completely different person from a different timeline. And the real Five was able to find a way out, he and Lila didn't have any kisses, and they saved the world with the whole family. I don't want to just believe that our beloved boy was spoiled like that.💔💔💔💔

Honestly, the fact that we now know that timelines can be erased and multipled etc. did take away some of the impact of that ending for me. Because them sacrifising themselves at the end is just what happens in one timeline. Also, this is a group of people who grew up extraordinary with training that would definetly qualify them to hunt down and stop apocalypses from happening in every timeline. All of them hated being ordinary and living ordinary lives. So why not just have them accept their fate and keep jumping timelines so that every time they set off an apocalypse their mission would, in every timeline, be to find out how to stop it?

I think it had some really good qualities, and I applaud them for going for "the bad ending" when most shows wouldn't. That doesn't mean I agree with the ending, I just think it was a gutsy move that you don't see that often in narratives, it was refreshing to see but also unsatisfying. As for the whole season, it definitely felt rushed, but it also felt slow at the same time with a lot of filler. I think they DEFINITELY needed more episodes. But the worst thing I think the ending did was make Five and Diego fight the whole last episode. You have to UNITE your cast in the final episode, not start a complex drama that you'll end in that episode, AND THAT EPISODE IS THE SERIES FINALE. Overall, I wouldn't say it was the worst possible ending for the show, but not the best, and that's just a bit of a shame. I honestly think there's a lot of thematic depth to unwrap, but that won't change the fact that it's an unsatisfying ending. If I was a bigger fan, I would be more upset. But I'm pretty casual with the show, so I'll thank it for entertaining me for four seasons but I don't know if I'll look back on this as one of my all time favorites because of the ending.

Let's accept the fact that Fifth and Lyle didn't have a "relationship" for long anyway. They weren't even supposed to happen. Laila still wanted to go back to her family deep down, and she wasn't serious about the Fifth One. I think it was because they were around or a sense of affection.I am sure that the Fifth himself understood that he had done a bad thing when he kissed his brother's wife. At the end of the final episode, the Fifth and Laila decided to just stay friends, because she loves Diego anyway, which was proved when they joined hands. And when she held hands with Five, she most likely did it so that he would not feel lonely. I am very offended that my boy, who never gave up, took dangerous risks, did everything to save his family, was turned into a man who took his brother's wife, just gave up and spat on his family..... 💔 Of course, I understand that he and Lila spent seven whole years in another timeline, but this is not a reason to give up and take his brother's wife away.... The fifth of the three previous seasons, on the contrary, would have been looking for a way out, would have motivated Laila by the fact that a loving husband and children were waiting for her at home. I also understand that he and Lila have been alone for seven whole years, but still that's not a reason. Five of Series 5 is a completely different person from another timeline, and the real Five would never steal his wife from his brother. Don't you think so too?

In the café with all the Five’s, it shouldn’t have been them searching for a way to end things and one Five exposition dumping to our main that it is hopeless. OG Five should have looked around him and see all those Five’s trying to stop their own apocalypses, just like he is doing, only then realising what the Commission Five ment with ‘Don’t save the world’. That it is an endless cycle and that the common denominator is him as an acting agent. Wasn't crazy about season 1. Then watched season 2 and enjoyed it so I went back and watched 1 again. Then three came out. I really wasn't impressed. I felt that the sparrow academy was just cannon fodder. It had some good scenes but I felt like it betrayed a few characters. Luther who was so in love with Allyson in season one and two now meets a new girl and marries her ib about a weeks time. Was he really that in love with being "in Love' and the character of Allison. She went over to the dark side. Now the fourth season was awful, disappointing and a waste of my time and effort. They had all the characters separated too much in my opinion. With only 6 episodes they should have had more whole family scenes. Then we have a 6 year time jump so we get no answers about anything. Diego and Lila now have three kids-we see one who is 7 but they only mention the twins in passing and we never see them. Ben is in prison....where did the boy from the train go? I always believed that Five respected Lila but having them have an affair? I know it was six years but are we saying a male and female cannot be together for years and just be friends. This also makes me have less respect for 5-sleeping with his brothers wife. So much for family above all else. Same for Lila. It gave me the willies. Then everyone dying at the end. Isn't there more marigold kids? Did the monster just die when the ben/jen monster ate everyone? What happens to Reginald and his wife. They just get eaten too. So bad and I have had it on my calendar for over a week. I wish I hadn't watched it or it had ended after the third season.

After watching this season yesterday, i was so confused. For example, we got to discover what the Jennifer incident was about, and some questions were answered, but the multiple timelines thing will always be hard to manage correctly. Different personalities in the body of people they used to know leading them to act as if they actually were them was a little hard to watch. I also wanted the powers modifications to be explained, but this season only being 6 episodes long, i instantly knew it was going to be rushed and bring more questions than answers. I used to love this show so much :(

No S4 didn't answer anything and added something that was unnecessary. Lila is an orphan. The handler asked five to kill the family so the handler could adopt her. Suddenly, in S4, Lila got the whole punjabis family?? I love all the characters, but in this season they were all different. This is proof that the writer doesn't even watch the previous show.

I know I'm in a small minority here, but I really liked the idea of 5 having SOME happiness and love with someone and it only makes sense to fall for the one person you've spent years with, even if it's like trauma bonding. But... Lyla??? She's just a frustrating human and maybe I would've been more okay with it if Diego became a jerk or she showed more concern for her kids. Idk 🤦🏽‍♀️ poor Diego

Five is really an old man who took his own brother's wife who is decades younger than him, abandoned his brothers because of it, tried to convince Lila to abandon her family and children, to be honest he became such a character detestable that I would be happy if he had been killed

I honestly thought they were going to pull a Bioshock Infinite and that gene and jean were the same person just different versions from different timelines.

While there was some things I liked in this season, overall I was very disappointed. I didn’t have nearly as much fun or interest in this season nothing hooked me in at all. Even though season 3 wasn’t the best it still was a fun season for me and I enjoyed it for what it was but this season wasn’t it for me. It was rushed (only 6 episode? Really?) some storylines I hated, just overall I wasn’t impressed, and this means a lot coming from someone who rarely ever doesn’t like shows/movies.

Not only was it poorly written, this was also the worst season visually. The editing and special effects were horrible. The fights had no physical weight. The flashbacks to previous scenes were lazy and pointless. All of the CGI looked out of place and made it more obvious the actors were reacting to nothing in the moment.
